That's not a credible web site. Also, where does it say Sony employees are pre-ordering PS3s? I only found an article about a Toys R Us employee lying about pre-order sales.
The ps3 is going to probably sell out almost everywhere at the Euopean launch with a huge allocation at a non-holiday time. You are just going to have to put your jealousy aside for a minute and back away from your computer.

   That whole site is just complete garbage. I would be more inclined to believe a MS employee blog about PS3 sales before I'd believe anything on that site.
first of all is a anti-ps3 site (with horrible presentation the plane drawn in paint firing at a burning ps3 being just one example)Â and the author goes on to claim things with no evidence to back it up. in fact he takes the fact stores have been allocated more units and spins it to say they aren't selling their pre-orders with no evidence. The fact that the TC has lowered himself to using this site to bash the ps3 is sad.

Doesn't seem that reliable, but the site is pretty funny. If you continue to read the site they list plenty of faults with the PS3. Some of the stuff there is 100% true, however...

Did you read the piece you're referring to? If it's to be believed, Sony did nothing, the Toys R Us manager did.
And I shall add this. A lot of the retailers here (pretty much all of them) have added a bunch of freebies to the preorders. One has a blu-ray movie + subscriptions to a magazine + $20 off. Another has two blu-ray movies. A third has Call of Duty 3 + a blu-ray movie.

First off, it would be illegal for Sony to do that. Second, this is a lemming thread since you skewed the poll. You put yes as an option with no consequence, and if people pick no then they are automatically labeled as a cow. It's just a set up. Most people will pick neutral (while some of those might want to pick no) because no=cow. Realistically, yes=lemming if people are being honest because there is no way it could be yes or else Sony would be in heaps of legal trouble. I'm going to vote no since it's true. It is not true, however, that I am a cow because I am eagerly anticipating the release of Halo 3 and Mass Effect more than MGS4 (I'm mad that they pushed Halo 3 back to November).

When you ship twice as many consoles as sold.................. you know something is fishy. However, for Sony, this is the norm. It isn't anything out of the ordinary.
Though your speculations are some what founded I think that the poll is squewed. You should add some other options. A fair argument is the most convincing argument.
Sure, there are plenty of cases were fake demand was created to spur a "buzz" for a band or product-- Sony maybe doing this. Still, there are laws against faking sales numbers but not against a press meeting where the public/press is told that there are "pre-orders" which are in no way official. All financial documents must be as accurate as possible by accounting standards by law.Â
Sony had recieved some ridcule for its underminding "All I want for Christmas is a PSP" advertising campaign. A quick web search should bring about results.Â
So, unlawful--NO. Sneaky--Yes.
I'm sure all three companies do this in there own way and more so have people on here SW and GS pretending to be one of us part of the "hadcore gamer" market and post almost daily "brainwashing", undermining and lawful content in favor of a brand.
