Sony Books Huge Venue for PlayStation Meeting, Perfect Place for PS4 Reveal

With the PlayStation Meeting now one week away, excitement for the PS4s announcement is at a fever pitch. Of course, some are still reluctant to believe that the next generation is already upon us, but the size of the meetings venue certainly points to the PlayStation 4s big reveal.

In an invite to PSLS, Sony announced that the PlayStation Meeting will be held at The Hammerstein Ballroom at the Manhattan Center Studios in New York. Unlike an ordinary press event, which only has 20 or so journalists in attendance, this is going to be a huge event akin to an E3 press conference The Hammerstein Ballrooms website states that the venue can accommodate 2,800 people Reception Style or 2,200 people Theater Style.

The Hammerstein combines a magnificent, century-old former opera house with fully-integrated 21st century media and entertainment production technology. Recently restored, this elegant room features a hand-painted ceiling, ornate woodwork, and three balconies with side boxes.

Soaring 75 feet above the main floor, the ceiling holds numerous rigging points suitable for production lighting, sound, or set design. Integration with the in-house audio recording studios, television studios, video control rooms, and post-production suites makes the space an incredible venue for productions, special events, live or taped broadcasts, and webcasts or radio broadcasts.

Production possibilities in this highly flexible event space are virtually limitless. Events hosted in The Hammerstein range from international product launches and television awards programs to designer fashion shows and holiday parties.

Well be there live, trying to get our grubby mitts on the PS4 when the PS Meeting kicks off on Feb 20th at 6PM EST. That, or crying in the corner when it turns out Kaz Hirai has trolled us all and just wants to talk about the PS Move.

I can't hold all this hype ! Won't be buying a PS4 but Love seeing new tech and seeing what Sony has got cooking up for this gen, was disappointed with Nintendo.

I just want promising game announcements. I can play better looking games on my PC. More interested in games than tech.

I was sceptic about the PS4 announcement, but if they will hold their conference in such a place, they must be planning a huge show with very important announcements... 

PS4 being shown now looks like a huge possibilty rather than just a rumor...

Agreed he seems funny enough should get his own little thing or something, don't think I have ever seen him in a GT video before.

Im so hyped i dont think i'll sleep for the next week!!! Its about time after the current gen draggin on for WAY too long and then the disappointment of E3 last year where i think everyone expected atleast some mention of the ps4.

Didnt PD say that info on GT6 would be coming 'sooner than you think'? maybe this will be announced and shown and will be a launch title for the new console, if thats not an exciting thought i dont know what is.

Considering who actually started the argument,I´d say the first one to come in was a butthurt consolite,wich imediately got owned as usual in this place. You saying that the one providing ownage is the one butthurt somewhat tells that there´s butthurt coming from your general direction as well.Nanomage

Yeah,facts sure make some folks butthurt,and he wasn´t the one bringing them.
