Sony broadcast reveals Phantasy Star Online 2, Discovery Project for PS Vita

Sony released a series of videos today as part of its "PlayStation Vita Game Heaven" broadcast, with details of upcoming PS Vita games, including the fact that Phantasy Star Online 2 is set for a Vita launch.

The "PlayStation Vita Game Heaven" event, set to feature presentations from various PS Vita game developers, was presented as a series of videos available to watch via Sony's website.

Among the announcements made, Sega revealed that its upcoming PC title Phantasy Star Online 2is also due to see a release on PS Vita in 2013. Both versions of the game will use the same servers, and you'll be able to play the same character in both versions, reports Andriasang.

Mega Mancreator Keiji Inafune also confirmed that he is working on a title for the PS Vita, although no details regarding the game were provided.

Another mystery was Sony's "Discovery Project" announcement. A collaboration with Japanese publisher Kadokawa Games, Discovery Project has not yet been fully explained, although a teaser website for the initiative suggests that user-generated content is involved.

The teaser website also notes that animation houses Robot and Ufotable are involved.

Since it's online, I'd rather have it on a console but good for Vita owners I guess.

phantasy star portable 2 never required p2p and it hasn't been announced for pso2 yet either. It also happens to be that PSO2 still hasn't been confirmed for the US (or anywhere outside of Japan) at all.

Keep it that way. By the end of 2012 that line's going be used by SONY themselves.

True enough but the definitive version is Blue Burst, which still has a small active community even today(myself included). I think XBOX version is the only one that can't be played anymore actually.

I'd rather a new Phantasy Star RPG for the Vita.

Id gladly Pay&Play for PSO2 but I have very few other reasons to get a Vita at this point. Ill wait for the holiday and see if a pricecut/remodel and more games down my aisle are incoming. TGS usually has great announcements.

I wouldn't want to pay a subscription for PSO as the only people I'd play it with are all poor it seems.

The video on pso world makes it look like the graphics are significantly worse on vita but there is also mention that they are working on that. IMO touch screen hand helds are perfect for MMOs and for games like PSO and personally I would have been thrilled if they put PSO BB on vita(maybe even moreso than with pso2).

Absolutely this. I will buy any system it comes out on if it's a proper Phantasy Star and not the junk we've been getting since IV.

Anyway,looks interesting but I´ll stick with the PC version of PSO2,can´t see myself playing that kind of game on a handheld.

Phantasy Star Online 2 is coming to Vita? Nice, even through the PC version is going to be better, but I hope it holds up well on the Vita.

PSO2 is something I'd rather play on my PC. Just waiting on an english release date now. Is the game even out of alpha testing yet?

Hopefully it has none. Day 1 if it is! If not I can't be bothered to be held down by a monthly fee on a game. Do it a la Guild Wars 2
