sony burns the bridges HALVES its official ps4 developer list for europe

sony had a big ol list of companies developing for european releases on ps4; 53 in total. sony has now halved that list some names taken off:

criterion

mojang

rovio

mediatonic

Vlambeer

17-Bit

and a host of other developers are now off the list

it isnt all bad new some names got added to the list. its now more like 28

Well less developers can't mean good things, but at least the ones added are way more exciting than the ones removed.

one cannot continue relying on AAA or AAAA budget capable developers to produce chart toppers and goty games. thank you and bless you for making them and putting them on my platform but one needs to look to the future to the develoeprs of tomorrow if one wants to continue to have success.

to say that criterion or high moon or sledgehammer will be around in the future and doing AAAA goty's across all genre's like they have/are now is foolish. one needs to thank them for their time and continue to support the new guys. if you dont you risk not being here somewhere down the line.

prob some of them want to wait to e3 surprise. this is a starting list anyways. just like Wii gamecube, 360, ps2, dreamcast start lists.

It's possible Criterion is working on a 720 game. I don't know for sure, but pretty sure they are not "owned" by EA in any way, so they could be working on a game for anybody (PGR for Microsoft?). Other than that - never really heard of the studios that were deleted, but CD Project RED, Bohemia Interactive, and Starbreeze easily outweigh anything taken off. Most likely the original list was just cobbled together by a PR guy who had no knowledge of actual signed contracts. While the "revised" list might be studios that actually have PS4 dev kits and games already in progress (or at least immediate plans to do so) - but even if a studio was taken off doesn't mean they wont' be working on PS4 games either very soon or eventually - it just might not be "official" yet. 2Chalupas

Wait. Sounds like there is some confusion here, becuase this doesn't even make sense. How could "NONE" of the studios announced originally be on the revised list - even EXTREMELY obvious ones that are making PS4 games.

I think Sony Europe just added to the confusion. I mean Capcom is not even on the "revised" list, so the names removed don't really mean anything as obviously they should not have been removed. 

Sony's original list was obviously not very accurate (some would say "embellished, yet it was missing 2K games and CD Project"... so who knows.) Although regardless if they jumped the gun on a few of those smaller studios doing PS4 games (i.e. Mojang), I think most of the 70 or whatever studios on both lists will end up doing PS4 games.

The update supports the idea that Sony Europe's list is fubar (because 505 definitely plans to make games, yet Sony Europe "took them off" the list along with everyone else. Maybe Sony Europe's contribution were just supposed to be "additions" to the original list, not replacing the original list. I mean how else to explain that no studios appear on BOTH lists? Isn't that obvious?

Either way, it was obviously totally incorrect to report that Sony has "halved" it's list of developers. However it's Sony's fault for creating the confusion, and probably also embelishing with a few studios that don't yet have confirmed plans for PS4 games. But at the end of the day, the actual number of studios working on games is probably going UP, not down. 

After all that, Sony still has more devs than Nintendo and MS. All this means is less flops. Thank you Sony.

Wonder what Bohemia is working on. Arma3 on Console's could be nice but I would imagine control restraint's.

this is a bad sign for the ps4. :(

CD Project Red was ADDED, not taken off. Also, a lot of trash was sorted out like Rovio.
Better to have 28 core studios than 58 padded with iOS developers and such. 28 studios from EUROPE btw, not 28 in total.
The 720 could not even get 28 studios in total to cooporate with them. Misleading thread and misleading title. IonusX for butthurt lemming confirmed. :cool:
