Wow, fastest selling console ever IN THE UK. Also, correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't the PS3 selling approximately 80,000 consoles per month?MCGSMB
Im from england, If you read the post i never said worldwide or anything of the sort, but from where i sit on the globe the ps3 is a hugh success.
also thats somthing i dont understand a look of people moaned about the gamecude, but arebuying a novilty game gube in form of the wii. if playstation developes that new remote and gets alot of developrers onboard the PS2 will get shut if the wii.
every time jack opens his mouth he is caught in a lie. killzone 2 is in realtime and is real gameplay. 1st lie, if you could find a ps3 sitting on shelve i will give you $1200.2nd lie. now we don't pay for exclusives we earn them. here is your 3rd lie. http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3160759

Why do I hear this kind of response every time a CEO of Sony says something stupid?
Because other posts like this:
So, in other words, "we don't try to get games. Games try to get us."
Hmm, maybe that's why the PS3 is failing.
prompt responses like that.
I'd say being outsold 6 to 1 by the Wii, and nearly being outsold by the 360 in Japan isn't a good sign at all. But still, even hardcore cows should feel dirty after hearing such a dumb comment.
"We don't offer developers anythign in return and we don't fund development, we simply remind them about how we're Sony!"
It is to my understanding that the ps3 is the fastest selling playstation of all time.
so if its selling better then the ps one, did at launch and is also selling faster then the Ps2 there is no justification to say this console has failed.
i dont think selling 165,000 systems in to days means it has failed.

Launch sales aside, the Wii is still hammering the PS3 into the ground. Also, the PS3 hasn't had any extreme shortages (like it's predecessors and the other next-gen systems), and it's salesdropped by about 85% after it's first week on the market. It doesn't matter if it sold mroe than the Wii and 360 at launch, if it's being outsold 6 to 1 by the Wii, it's hardly mathmaticly possible that it's selling faster.

Yeah PS3 is doing fine, its just not doing as expected which is why I guess people are on sony's case all the time.
Yeah that good ole racing horse Miss Bestie, with one broke leg and a twisted ankle is doing just fine in this here Kentucky Derby...She was last years champion so if you give her some time she will show em all whose boss!!!! Just because them other steeds ran out the gate in a flash and is about to lap Miss Bestie doesnt mean we dont have the faith in our champion, she can pull through for the win.
Sad to see so many gamers in denial regarding the status of Sony and the PS3...If MS or Ninty were in Sony's position this gen (lack of sales hardware/software), the Sony clan would have unanimously called their consoles a bust.. But as we all know its a Sony, so its OK!
Game On....
The thing is the horse has a broken leg and cant be fixed but the PS3 isn't broken, it was just slow out of the gate but that doesn't mean it cant catch up. Will it catch up? Who knows, but one thing is for sure is that your analogy is complete trash. Your the only one thats in denial thinking that its impossible for any company to shoot ahead, there are so many factors that you just cant automatically assume one thing or the other. (ie. Games, Price, Online, ect.)

Sorry my friend, but my analogy is dead on...Sony's broken leg is its price and its twisted ankle is the lack of AAA exclusive software. Regardless of how much Sony drops its price over the years, it will remain the most expensive console of the bunch. Its true that a company can make a drastic turnaround given the ideal conditions. Unfortunately Sony doesnt have the luxury of facing one competitor that may make a vital mistake to turn the tides in their favor, its facing two very strong competitors. So to have the blind faith of somehow, someway, Sony will pull through this gen is complete denial of reality...

Dont you put a horse down if it has a broken leg? lol idk much about horses even though I live in Texas but I believe thats what happens.
If so that means your saying that the price has broken its leg and made it where they are going to have to put the PS3 down which is totally unrealistic. Anyway Im not having blind faith, and tbh I could care less if the PS3 fails. I dont want it to fail but it wouldnt bother me at all as long as I still get to play the games I want to. What Im saying to you though is that you cant compair a hurt horse to a console because there are many more factors in this subject than what you noted and its a definate answer for a horse if yes or no but not for a console.

Taking an analogy a little too literal I see... But in all honesty, Sony was the one who put its own horse down, its the fanboys that still hold onto the notion of a victorious comeback....the Ali of the console war!!! Just because a console is not the leading sku of its generation doesnt mean its completely worthless, its just means its not the system of preference from the industry. Im sure there will be a few gems in the PS3 catalog, but nothing that will cause a mass exodus from the 360 or Wii. Hell I enjoyed my Dreamcast till the cows came home, but it was not the leading sku of its time (same can be said about the N64)....
The point of my post is for everyone to enjoy their games and have a good time, but tune into reality and understand that the PS3 is underperforming in all markets (badly). If that facts doesnt bother you, thats fine, but the fanboyism (not pointing at you) needs to stop with the PS3 will prevail in the end type statements...

OMG, where is your proof?
Do you have proof? No, you don't.
An analyst from Wedbush Morgan Securities is predicting that the Playstation 2 will sell more than any of the new next generation consoles. Sony will ship in the coming months 11 million PS2 and only 6 million PS3 until March of 2007, and according to a rating agency Sony will continue to ship the same numbers until March 2008, which is a bit ironic if you consider that the Playstation 2 had a relatively weak launch, and since then it has beaten all sales records.
So don't trash your Playstation 2 just yet, because it seems that the next generation is the budget one, and instead of choosing one of the fancy top-end consoles (the PS3 and the XBox 360) a lot of consumers are choosing cheaper consoles like the Nintendo Wii and the PS2.
http://forevergeek.com/news/playstation_2_to_outsell_all_next_gen_consoles_in_2007.php
The winning formula? Convincing parallels between the PS2 and PS3.
No console maker has ever dominated three consecutive platform generations. Atari squandered its head start in the 80s, Nintendo lost its near monopolistic stranglehold in the 90s, and now it's Sony's turn to pass the baton. Or is it? The PS3 may have seen its share of negative press lately, but Sony seems to be lining up a perfect repeat success of the PS2. The outlook for PS3 is actually not all that different as it was for the PS2 when it was first introduced in 2000. Don't believe us? Check out these examples of history repeating itself.

You do realise how many analysists have said many different things? One say the PS3 will succeed, the other says it won't. It's all a monkey sh*t fight to be quite honest. And if you're going to talk about 'History repeating itself', what about Nintendo loosing a large part of their market share on their 3rd console? What about consoles that go for all out power never succeeding as well as intended? What about all consoles over $600 being catastrophes?
[EDIT] As for people buying PS2s, if anything's obvious at the moment, it's that casuals are going to buy a Wii.
You need to read it like this: "We don't buy exclusives, we would like to, but we are bleeding money, and out stock holders would rip us a new one"Arsuz
So true, hopefully for sony the PS3 it doesn't bleed to death.. If sony doesn't take corrective action soon they will cut off the PS3. They need to excize the bluray player to do so however. Nintendo is killing the PS3, litterally in Japan like a samari soldier. Ever month the multiplier goes up last month 6:1, if it goes to 7:1 this month and next month 8:1 the PS3 will be dead. Remeber for a japanese console to be sucessful it has to have good homegrown support. In my silly opinion if the PS3 fails in japan it will eventually fail all regions, due to lack of exclusive software.

X-bots ? Thats cute... you should be in the same catergory as Tretton. Hey if your gonna say stupid things, be prepared to own up to them when people call you out. It's happened before and it will happen again.

Yeah I hate Jack Tretton. Heck if Paris Hilton says something people will listen.
Interestingly, I post a valid point, and I don't get one valid responce. Why is Tretton an idiot? Is it because he is poorly educated or because he says something some poeple don't agree with. Further, can someone present an decent point, use logic, make an educated statement about the topic or are we all limited to hate and blindness that provides no reasonable base for any educated opinion.
Yea things break, but they should break through wear and tear, use, not in six months due to a poorly designed structure or massive manufacturing flaws, that is the insult to intelligence. If they had said, "yea there's a problem and we need to find it and fix it." That would have at least addressed the problem. Tretton is addressing a problem, yea he's using marketing ploys and BS to make him and his company sound good, but how is this any different from the CEO of M$ shouting developers for five minutes at the beginning of a presentation. It's all cr#$, but it is up to us to disect the words that come out of these peoples mouths and see them for what they are.
[QUOTE="Insane00"][QUOTE="TrueReligion_"]Jack Tretton is such an idiot. Godslay
Bet he makes a lot more than you do, is much better respected, and in general, well people listen to what he says? What was the last thing you said that was listened to as well as the topic quote?
I find it amusing that X-Bots would make fun of such a remark that at least attemps to bring some honor to Sony and ps3 users (whether or not its true) when M$ has the audacity to insult the intelligence of 360 users by saying about their DEFECTIVE design by saying "Things break" It must be an interesting feeling to be so swayed by propoganda.
X-bots ? Thats cute... you should be in the same catergory as Tretton. Hey if your gonna say stupid things, be prepared to own up to them when people call you out. Also, things do break... it's a common sense statement. If you want to get into a pissing match about things breaking take into account the failure rate of ipods. Horrible, or PS2's. It's happened before and it will happen again.
Can't believe you haven't seen x-bots before, I learned it from GS.
I ain't getting into no pissing match, I'm talking about what companies say to their customer and about their own company. IF you read my post I'm talking about the quote, to explain defective equipment away by saying "sh*& happens" is not taking care of the problem or addressing those with an issue. Who cares that stuff breaks, I and anyone else that pays 400 bucks for a video game system wants solutions to the problem.

Who said Jack Trenton was the only idiot CEO? Peter Moore's had a good few idiotic moments. It just so happens that Jack Treton and many other Sony CEOs top that level of stupidity. Somehow I feel "The PS3 will incite dicipline into our children" and "We don't bribe for 3rd party support, we earn it" somewhat more idiotic than "Things break, ya' know". And as Turgore said, Paris Hilton is rich and famous, as are people like Anne Coulter and Bill O'Reilly. It doesn't stop them from being total ass clowns.

what about the ps1Yeah I hate Jack Tretton. Heck if Paris Hilton says something people will listen.

Hate is such an ugly word. It signifys the exact opposite of love, and expresses a desire to utterly destroy, cause unyeilding pain, and treat as inhuman. I hope you don't really hate anyone, and if you do, you should probably be behind bars or are part of the reason the world is such a screwed up place.
The only people that listen to Paris are dumb valley girls that have no real self esteem, everyone else just laughs at her. Just like the only people that listen to Tretton are involved in the gaming industry or play video games. My point though is that he is probably a whole lot more educated than 75% of the kids on this site so to call him an idiot is logically invalid. Perhaps his statement was idiodic, but that is different.

Ok, I feel it is more insulting and stupid to pander off one's mistakes with the console, and you think it is more rediculous (stupid if you wish, I'm trying to be fluid in my writing) to blow off mistakes with third party developers. I guess it's a matter of opinion. I just felt the quote didn't demand all the hate mongering any more than it deserves praise. It's just something some CEO said about the company he runs, big deal.
