sony dropping the price of PS3 soon & more than 100$

well you all know sony is loosing around 200$ per PS3 being sold so most people here would say that it is impossble to lower the price of ps3 because of that.

well PS3 production cost is not $800+ like it was when it was launch, Blu-ray Prices are dropping to $499 thats $500 drop in blu-ray and the cell processor is easy'er to make and cheaper to make as well, so the 2 things that caused PS3 to have such a high price will reduce the production cost.

also sony is loosing 200$ for each console being sold but it's loosing $800+ for each console NOT being sold. so if they wanna make the loss lower they would defentily lower the price of PS3 soon. also MS is releasing most halo 3 which is a big game for some people. so for sony to compete it has to lower ps3 price soon and if it lower it's price too late Wii will steal all PS3 shares so it has to compete with others and developer would start loosing interest in ps3 so sony has no choice but to drop the price.

Sorry. Microsft's Market cap: 291 Biliion. Sony's: 54.64 Billion. Microsoft's more than five times the size of sony.

First of all; Sony can afford to loose money is B.S. Sony loss 2 billion dollarslast quater. Second, think about it;if Sony lowers its price after one year What makes you think Microsoft would't lower their price after two years.

Still, Sony does have more Assets than Microsoft does, which I guess would be a metric a cow would enjoy using... then again, this is like spitting on Sony's eye, since more assets AND less profit AND less market capitalization basically means you're not only the slow kid in the room, you're also the fat one.

And on a more interesting note, Sony's market value is smaller than it's net assets... noticeably. That's hardly a pretty sight.

Umm, i think she means in terms of what they have in the market, not money value. Meaning all microsoft has is a pos os, and a ok console.

While sony has heavens for console, good tvs, laptops, other things that i cant think of but w/e.

Sony is definitely not losing $200 on production anymore. That was right at launch. Blu-ray diodes alone have gone down from $150 to $8. Cell processor die shrink, blu-ray cheaper, PS2 emulation, among other factors.... PS3 is probably down to $500 or so for ones made right now. They could be dropping it to $450 easily I think if they just take the loss of all the units they built when it still cost a lot more.

And Sony is a huge company with higher revenue than MS. MS just takes a lot more profit because they have a monopoly with Windows..... which is a bad thing if they were to ever take over the game industry and try to make back the billions they fed into Xbox. And Sony essintially spent 2 billion to launch PS3. I'm pretty sure there wasn't even a net loss for the company just the game division.

I will buy a PS3 before I get a 360 if they announce a price drop of $100+ before I purchase my next console. So, I must say I was very excited when I read the thread title, but my excitement was crushed as soon as I opened it. No links, no proof, just speculation. Hell, it wasn't even good speculation as you presented no solid facts to back it up.
