Sony exclusives dropping in quality

Has the quality of sony exclusive games lately ( excluding the last of us) dropped in quality and been reviewed poorly. I remember them before 2013 averaging around 8.5-9.5/10 in review sites but lately ive seen games such as killzone shadowfall, beyond two souls, knack for examples getting 5-7.5/10

You sound like a butthurt lemming. Sony makes a lot of exclusives. Not all of them are going to be GOTY winners like The Last of Us, but at least Sony cares about gamers and makes games unlike Microsoft who is try to sell cable TV. LOL

Uncharted was a launch title and averaged about a 7 or 8 I believe.

80 on metacritic is average at best.

high 80s+ is worthy of being a great system seller exclusive game.

sadly no games released to date on next gen consoles have proven to be a great hit.

(halo forza gears) dont utter another word, out side the few 3rd party exclusives like dead rising 3 on x1 and saints row 1 , condemned 1 rares early 360 titles along w pgr 3/4 and race pro, microsoft doesnt shell out the games lol

in the last 4 years name a quality exclusive that didnt have the names forza or halo in it

I got surprising news for you, 'famous 3' was made by Sony, specifically Sony's Sucker Punch, not the Xbox manufacturer as you stated.

TC, you left out Tearaway (87/100 meta) which is an exceptional Sony made game released in late November 2013. You also left out Gran Turismo 6, Resogun, Infamous 3 (released today), Puppeteer, and The Last of Us: Left Behind (89/100). You left out more games than that (Ratchet: nexus, Soul Sacrifice, Soundshapes, Killzone Mercenaries, etc), but I'll just stop here because that's good enough to make my point. They are making a lot of games, so not all of them are going to be amazing, but the lesson here is they are making a lot of games. Nintendo just released a very lackluster Yoshi's New Island 3DS (64/100) game, when releasing a lot games, bad eggs sometimes make it out. It happens.

Besides, you are comparing launch games with polished up mid-late generation games. Traditionally launch titles are a tough period for the most part as developers struggle to get an understanding of the hardware while trying to make a competent game. The second gen titles, usually a year into the machine is where we gamers get to see some neat stuff.

tl;dr: TC is wrong and didn't do enough research.

Comparing launch titles to an established console is wrong. Everyone expects launch titles to be nothing more than tech demos and ports for the most part. There isn't enough install base to bring out the big guns, they know a year down the line when there is >10 million owners all those games will be 1/4 of the original price so they don't get much money from it.

Although it does look like Sony have at least attempted to have a go at it, people just have very high standards these days.

Sony/Playstion bashers need to make up their mind. Seriously, im willing to follow what ever rules you guy set, just as long as we all follow it and are on the same page.

People think that next gen is supposed to be this huge jump. That's why all games 80 on Metacritic. Including Forza 5.

If we'd judge em compared to past titles they'd definitely 9/10 in my book.

I actually really liked Drake's Fortune compared to many that only saw it as kinda good at best. But there is NO question Among Thieves is much better.

For a better picture of a game's quality, Metacritic is the way, as it collates many review scores in order to come up with a single score. Meaning less bias.

Yeah, Epic Games has gotten worse due to changes in the studio itself, especially with Cliff Bleszinski leaving. Gears of War 1-3 were good with a 91+ in in Metacritic for all three games, but Judgment was bad, and it only got a 79 on Metacritic.

Bungie on the other hand had nothing to do with Halo 4.

Give it time, with the new VR head set, 4k tvs, and the ps eye, it looks like sony has all angles covered for the time being.

It already has a mouse on its pad, so the mission is clear. After all is said and done, the way it looks right now, microsoft has alot more than OS to worry about. Look at it like this, if linux users and apple users, along with the new Sony OS, mixed with a little bit of android come together, all it will take is a name change, and a stock shift to get things rolling again for top dogs.

But of course, in a perfect world, if these things came together, in order to avoid monopoly, we would need a 2nd party, as well as third party support as well. Which leaves the question begged to differ.......if OS is the future, then what will happen to the past. As we all well know, history repeats itself, so there is really only one thing to do at this time, and it's to present the news. The news goes hand in hand with other media outlets such as music, movies, and other time killing sport activities.

Let's face it, we don't wnat to hear bad news, we want to hear the latest technology, what celebrities are up to, and how we can save money. Some like to hear personal related things, but in todays day in age, where we come from, it is basically forbidden. You cant't go to school learning new things unless it's in a book, which is ready ripe, and introduces alternatives if your reaching further. This is a perfect excuse, and exemplifies itself from the daily lifestyle of a child growing up.

Sony exclusives aren't dropping in quality. It is nintendo exclusives which are dropping in quality it seems.

I actually find Delson to be a lot more interesting than Cole. Yeah, he's kind of a whiny brat, but at least he's not a hollow shell like most video game characters. I actually find him to be one of the more dynamic main characters in recent video games, and I hope this new generation continues this pattern. Video game stories and characters suck. I hope they get more interesting, and like him or hate him, Delson is certainly a lot more interesting than most game characters.

I agree, I didn't care much for Cole. He was the typical "I'm so badass" character that just makes it unbelievable. Delsin actually acts like a person. And Second Son is awesome.

I disagree. I for one am looking forward to playing kzsf and infamous ss has me feverishly looking for a ps4. KZ mercenary is one of my favorite games on my vita. They always deliver. That's why I always buy both Xbox and PlayStation. I like the games from them.

Delson's exactly the kind of character video games need. People who want to see game stories reach the quality of film and television need these kind of characters. Quality stories don't have main characters that are perfect and untarnished, they're flawed -- they have problems, they suck at things, they're annoying in certain ways because everybody's annoying in certain ways -- and they are the conduit (sorry, I couldn't help it) to creating stronger narratives in games.

At least Sony brings new IPs every gen in massive amounts as exclusives on very different genres. What you looking you name it. You want platformers ? You want Racing games? You want action games? You want FPS games ? Maybe hack and slash adventures ? Story driven ? Puzzle ? Action/Adventures ? What exactly is your favorite genre , youll find something awesome on Sony's systems as exclusive for sure.

On other consoles you playing mainly the same IPs again and again and again. Gears/Halo/Forza and repeat and repeat again ..... On Nintendo , Mario/mario/mario , Zelda and then more mario spin off games. Exactly the same games since SNES/N64 more or less.

So if some of those exclusives fail to deliver or fail to be AAAE is irrelevant. New IPs are new IPs. They can fail but you know what ?! At least they trying something new that might be a success. Look at Uncharted and The last of us for example , Journey and Little big planet and more ... They trying !! Others playing safe ! Personally , ill go with more quantity/quality and thats Sony systems. They prove it 3 generation now i dont think theyll fail with this one.

Everything is dropping in quality. Its gaming in general. You look at Killzone 2 and it was so awesome, 91 metacritic, praised by the hardcore community... and then we have Shadow Fall... more casual.. ADS... DLC for everything...no features... gamers are ruining gaming by buying all these casual games.. COD, TitanFail, and all the DLC junk released for it. Why didnt more people buy the hardcore vanquish instead of the high selling noob games? :( now there is no Vanquish 2, but instead we will have Ass Creed 7 8 9 and 10. Good graphics, bad games. I think hermits should complain more since quake, thief, wolfenstein are no longer good, even crysis went from nothing special to horrible. At least on PS4 there are some good games coming...

Reviews will always be reviews. Opinions will always be opinions. Personally I'd rather read about if the game actually RUNS fine rather than what some games journalist thinks of the story & gameplay. If I look at a game and I think it looks fun(like watching youtube videos) then I'm probably gonna enjoy it despite 'bad scores'. Not to mention there are so many weird ambiguities like "last gen gameplay", or "it plays like a last gen game" and other new buzz words now that seem to knock a game down. Yet most of the multiplats that are highly rated all contain this 'last gen gameplay' but seem to have survived fine. Seems absolutely ridiculous in my mind.

Doesn't matter, the public is buying the PS4 on the promise of greatness. Not the delivery... as of yet.

@KillzoneSnake: Killzone 2 was awesome. It had a smart AI and there this feel of weight that differentiates it from other standard FPS games. And the gameplay mechanics just felt right. Too bad it had a shitty ass story and, crappy and forgettable characters.

Nobody said it was bad, it's just that it is apparent from review scores that the games are not getting as much praise as before. Using review scores as a gauge, then it is true that the games are actually decreasing in quality, especially if you use Metacritic. For example: jumps from a Metacritic score of 90+ to 70+ does denote a huge decrease in quality.

Likewise, if you look at recent releases, there has been a gradual decrease in scores compared to predecessor games, except for Naughty Dog's The Last of Us.
