Senior Sony executives are according to one senior insider acting like "Stunned Mullets" today following the decision by key Blu ray partner JB HiFi to drop their exclusive support for Blu ray and start selling the Toshiba backed HD DVD.

According to the Federal Government web site on Australian colloquialism to act like a stunned mullet is described as being "Dazed and confused, someone who will wander 'like a stunned mullet'; in a furious rage, they will be 'mad as a cut snake' and in a state of undeniable anger".

The change of mind by JB Hi Fi has not only stunned Sony but the whole CE industry after Scott Browning the Marketing Director decided earlier this year to only go with...

Sorry to take your thread off the rails but... Your avatar. Is there a link you've put as your avatar that has your Halo 3 rank constantly updating? if there is I think I'd like to do it.

My mullet is stunned as well.

One can only wonder what caused this exchange of hats to take place. A movie studio is one thing, but a retailer is quite another. I suspect a bribe had something to do with it.

I don't think just putting Bungies website in my avatar section will work but... Whatever, I'll find it myself.

Thanks anyway

Im not surprised ....

I've been seeing HD DVD ads EVERYWHERE lately and yet only i only know of 2 - 3 stores who sell HD DVD players, and none that sell the movies ...

but yea this isn't that bad -> it just means that JB HiFi will be selling HD DVD players + movies and Blu-ray players + Movies ...

all that is doing it prolonging the format war, Although all retailers and blockbuster are pretty much still blu-ray only, Hd dvd doesnt do well at all in Aus so it's a werid decision as you think people would want the format war to be over as soon as possible

I live in New Zealand and nobody buys HD-DVD...it's either Blu-Ray or DVD. I've never even seen an HD-DVD player here, just movies.

Stacks of JB Hifis here in Victoria.

Too many. That isnt exactly a bad thing though.

But they are hardly comparable to a super store, mega chain like best buy.

with the poor showing from bluray so far, it's safe to say many are starting to rethink their partnering with bluray.

just because someone is "bluray exclusive" doesn't mean they will have to stay that way.

a fact the cows never could grasp....

wait...it gets worse...;)

Its going to lose because retailers are having a sale? Perhaps they are selling em buy one get one free cuz they can't sell their stock? :) lol.

This is pretty big for Sony here in Australia, JB Hifi are a popular chain and the PS3 was pretty much being advertised as a $1000 Blu-Ray player all year long. Oops!
