Could someone please explain why PSN is still completely offline for countries like S.Korea and Hong Kong? Or perhaps why SONY has yet to provide any reasonable justification or indication as to when PSN will be back online in ANY capacity in these regions? This to me is not only unprofessional but also bordering unforgivable considering full functionality and services have been restored to the rest of the world. thank you for your **** business Sony.

It's not Sony's fault. The governments in Asia still needs to approve for PSN to be back online

Wouldn't you be better off giving Sony a call rather than asking people here who couldn't care less?

It's the government's fault, not Sony's. And I find it really strange that it's not back in HK, because it is back in China...

Done that, called SCEK, they too have no idea. Is that acceptable? Maybe im just posting on this forum to vent my frustration towards a company I invested money in? If you dont care, why bother responding.

mostly cause even though HK was returned to the chinese people and country its still pretty much controlled internally China wouldn't want to indanger the money and trade that comes into through HK so they let them pretty much govern themselves for the most part.

Shouldn't you venting your anger towards your country's government, who won't approve PSN to be restored?

Or sony could have actually used something other then apple II's to handle security functions on user details and credit card information and the developer network and all that and not had to take psn down completely.

Why should i be angry towards a country that is trying to protect its consumers/people? Isn't it Sony's poor security that led to this debacle? From what im seeing, Sony must not have a strong and convincing enough solution to prevent future security breaches, hence the government not letting the network to go back online.

because the govenments of those countries know sony better than the rest of the world and know better than to just allow them to continue to do things the way they do them without question.

Or, you know, it could take a while to process the request form? I don't know about SK or HK, but if their government is similar to Seattle's it's an absolute nightmare to get anything done. It literally took me a month to file a change of address. Those losers kept losing my paperwork. Maybe it's the same in your country. Just wait a while and see what happens.

It's not like it was Sony's fault in the first place for the PSN outage. It was the hackers. And if all you're going to do is bash them, perhaps you should just sell your PS3. Why should it be Sony's fault that your government won't allow the PSN to be restored in your region? And if you feel so strongly about "a country trying to protect its consumers/people" then why are you even complaining in the first place?

Right because S. Korea and Hong Kong set the World Wide standard in internet security. Maybe it's too hard to hack now so they've decided not to allow the network back up. Point is, if you're stuck in one of those countries, you'd probably be better off dealing with the people there that can help you rather then posting a "lets bash Sony" thread on a North American gaming website.

It's largely due to bureaucratic measures. I can't speak for each area, but I know Japan wouldn't allow Sony to bring the sight back up because they were trying to manage the service as if they owned it and declared it wasn't secure enough to be put up for public use. It comes back to the old big-government vs. small-government squabble that broadcasts incessantly on Fox News.

Plagiarize much? J/K. Despite the fact that you took my exact post from another website and posted it here verbatim as your own, all is forgiven considering our shared dejected predicament. Moreover, I'll just chalk it up to being the sincerest form of flattery. As for those who are implicitly making accusations of "belly-aching" against the current have-nots who at most are asking for some empathy are levying such accusations from glass houses. The irony, in this case doesn't need to be spelled out. The criticism against SONY is completely fair and just in that SONY has at the very least an ethical responsibility to keep its customer base informed regarding the progress being made to restore service in the regions in which even basic service is still down. Granted there has been some transparency in regards to the delay of PSN Japan's full restoration. However, it is important to note that Japan still has online capability despite not having access to the PSN store. On the other hand, there has been nothing but silence when it comes to why countries such as S.Korea and Hong Kong have been completely neglected. If in fact, there is an issue with the respective gov'ts and SONY as to why this delay persists, then so be it. PS3 owners in these affected areas deserve to be informed and given some estimated timeline/goal.
