Could someone please explain why PSN is still completely offline for countries like S.Korea and Hong Kong? Or perhaps why SONY has yet to provide any reasonable justification or indication as to when PSN will be back online in ANY capacity in these regions? This to me is not only unprofessional but also bordering unforgivable considering full functionality and services have been restored to the rest of the world. thank you for your **** business Sony. 1llionare_gonzoIt's not Sony's fault. The governments in Asia still needs to approve for PSN to be back online

It's the government's fault, not Sony's. And I find it really strange that it's not back in HK, because it is back in China...

Done that, called SCEK, they too have no idea. Is that acceptable? Maybe im just posting on this forum to vent my frustration towards a company I invested money in? If you dont care, why bother responding.
http://psndowntime.com/
you can see the complete downtime timeline there for psn.
Thanks for the link.mostly cause even though HK was returned to the chinese people and country its still pretty much controlled internally China wouldn't want to indanger the money and trade that comes into through HK so they let them pretty much govern themselves for the most part. It's the government's fault, not Sony's. And I find it really strange that it's not back in HK, because it is back in China...

Or sony could have actually used something other then apple II's to handle security functions on user details and credit card information and the developer network and all that and not had to take psn down completely.

Isn't it Sony's poor security that led to this debacle? From what im seeing, Sony must not have a strong and convincing enough solution to prevent future security breaches, hence the government not letting the network to go back online.
because the govenments of those countries know sony better than the rest of the world and know better than to just allow them to continue to do things the way they do them without question.

Or, you know, it could take a while to process the request form? I don't know about SK or HK, but if their government is similar to Seattle's it's an absolute nightmare to get anything done. It literally took me a month to file a change of address. Those losers kept losing my paperwork. Maybe it's the same in your country. Just wait a while and see what happens.

It's not like it was Sony's fault in the first place for the PSN outage. It was the hackers. And if all you're going to do is bash them, perhaps you should just sell your PS3. Why should it be Sony's fault that your government won't allow the PSN to be restored in your region? And if you feel so strongly about "a country trying to protect its consumers/people" then why are you even complaining in the first place?

From what im seeing, Sony must not have a strong and convincing enough solution to prevent future security breaches, hence the government not letting the network to go back online. Right because S. Korea and Hong Kong set the World Wide standard in internet security. Maybe it's too hard to hack now so they've decided not to allow the network back up. Point is, if you're stuck in one of those countries, you'd probably be better off dealing with the people there that can help you rather then posting a "lets bash Sony" thread on a North American gaming website.
It's largely due to bureaucratic measures. I can't speak for each area, but I know Japan wouldn't allow Sony to bring the sight back up because they were trying to manage the service as if they owned it and declared it wasn't secure enough to be put up for public use. It comes back to the old big-government vs. small-government squabble that broadcasts incessantly on Fox News.
