I'm not asking you to admit defeat yet... but are you at least willing to come to terms with the fact that you've been humbled?

A couple of years back, when the PSP was supposed to dethrone Nintendo's handheld reign, when Sony was coming off back to back console war victories, the PS3 and the Cell were supposed to take over the world, when you called the 360 the Xbox 1.5, when you laughed at the Wii and Nintendo's chances (then called revolution), I'm willing to bet that you thought Sony was pretty invincible.

Now, the PSP is being crushed by the DS, 360 games are graphically on the same level as PS3 titles, and you're console is sitting dead last in sales - with media pundits tearing it to shreds and consumers not willing to bite.

How are PS3 owners being humbled? I guess if we were expecting immediate, complete dominance, sure... but to ask that of an expensive system that released a year behind its direct competitor is asking a lot. Not to mention that the PS3 is doing as well as the Xbox was at this point in time, so if the PS3 is a failure, so is the 360. It goes both ways.

Also, pundits ripped apart PS and PS2, and look where that got them. Regardless of what sells the most, I think the PSP > DS and the PS3 > Wii. The PSP does more for me. I watch movies and listen to music on my PSP, surf the net in airports, play wicked PS2 ports... PS3 offers a lot more technically than the Wii, and it has the games I want, with plenty more on the way. PSN has been fun so far, Home will make it better, eventually when I switch to HD movies, I have a BD player. These aren't important to the casual pick up n play gamer, but they're important to me. I'll eventually own a Wii and a DS, but I'll never think they're "the best" regardless of how much they sell or how hard they are to find. PS3 and 360 are always going to be the kings this gen, sales be damned.

No, I dont feel "humbled." I have only two games for the PS3. But, had I bought a 360, I would only have two games for that as well. For me, it was either buy a console, two games now, and many more later, or buy some other console, two games now, and maybe two or three later. So the decision was quite clear for me.

Oh, and, dead last in a race of how many? Oh, right, three. One being released a whole year before the PS3 and the other is a bargain priced console. So, do the math and of course the PS3 is last in sales. That doesnt bother me none however because the rate at which the PS3 is selling is on par with the 360 at this point in its life. Maybe a little behind, but price can be blamed on that.

I'm a Sony fan, and I didn't expect total dominance after a year-late release. That's a generalization about fanboys. Can you just accept that some of us like the PS brand because of its products, not because it sold the most last time around? I had PS and PS2 before they were a proven powerhouse.

Oh, and I totally disregard all comments related to Sony being a bad company or consumers being fed up with their arrogance, because MS beats them hands down in both of those categories. If you were a sheep you might have some ground to talk, but you're a Boxer, and your company is the epitome of an Evil Empire.  

Based on the responses I've heard in my thread so far,

it appears Sony fanboys display the same level of denial and arrogance as the company they support.... Sony will lie, and deny their way through this generation for as long as they possibly can, but eventually, they will inevitably be brought to their knees by their competitors and shamefully forced to acknowledge the errors of their ways if they want to reconnect with the fanbase that turned their backs on them.

Perhaps I am not the right person to respond since I wouldn't consider myself a fanboy, although I usually do only stick to one console per generation. The simple reason: time and money. I don't feel like spending money on all 3 consoles when one can already fully occupy the little free time I have left for gaming.

I know some might point out the paradox that I chose the most expensive of all three systems, but it also seems like the most promising one to me.

Aye, it ain't selling that hot right now compared to the Wii. But taking the steep price tag into account and comparing it with how well the 360 did untill this point after its release, suddenly things don't look THAT bad anymore. So the Wii is crushing everything right now and the 360 had a one year headstart. No wonder the PS3 is at the last spot as of now.
You mentioned that the graphical capabilities of the PS3 and 360 are nearly identical, and that this is a blow to the Playstation. Well, Last Gen, the PS2 had probably the worst graphics of the generation, but that didn't hinder its success. Of course all the fanboys keep talking about the graphics, and sure I do my part in commenting upon it as well, but only when I feel people are being unfair in comparisions. 

Anyways, to answer your question: The whole console war thing leaves me cold. I chose to buy a PS2 because the titles coming out for it interested me the most. I didn't own a PS1, so I didn't pick the PS2 out of brand loyalty or because it was the cool thing to do (the console was bashed to bits back then). I picked the PS3 because I think it's the best fit for me.

The Wii is outselling everything? Alright, but since I personally don't have much interest in that console it doesn't really bother me that much.

I'd say we come back in two years again to talk about how well each console is selling. The Wii might continue to dominate or end up as a short-lived fad, the PS3 might drop in price and actually have some great games to offer and the 360 could pick up even more steam in the future. 

Right now, the Wii is leading the race, but it's not finished yet. ;)

You seem to forget that Xbox isn't all they're involved in. Their OS monopoly and the lengths they've gone to maintain it by any means necessary is nothing short of unbelievable. If you're going to attack the PS3, go for it. If you're going to try and pin it on Sony and say Xbox is a company that actually cares about you, I'm going to laugh and disregard your entire post. How does owning any system make you humbled? the sheer ignorance and stupidity in your post makes my head want to explode.

If a person wants the ps3 as their media and entertainment hub then they buy it. No one is forced into buying a system. People already know what they are getting themselves into when they buy the ps3. They know that the games aren't great right now compared to the 360 but soon enough it will not only outlast its competition but will provide better entertainment (opinion based).

However, if a person does not feel assured and feel that they need the best of gaming right now.. RIGHT THIS SECOND... then they probably will buy the 360 (of course breaking out on them 3 months later.. lol i kid)

I think the only kids in here are the people who lack any knowledge of the industry and tend to think early failure is fatal. The TC made a topic on why Sony fans should be humbled. Why? Because they are dumb enough not to realise PS3 would struggle during it's first few years? If PS3 is struggling in 2 years time then yeah ring the alarm bells. You would have to be incredibly stupid to think PS3 at $599 would sell well during it's  first year. PSP is different and sucked from the beginning, Sony had no clue about the Handheld Market yet still manage to sell 20 Million+ Units.

Or possibly it's because Resistance flopped, Motorstorm is a racing game without offline multiplayer, and pretty sub-standard online multiplayer, many multiplatform games are inferior, and a large portion of new games to ps3 already being released on the 360 months ago?  Makes more sense to me.  And having a ps2 ni possession doesn't justify the ps3 not living up to the hype.

Or is it just cheaper, more convenient, with the most efficient way of distributing its product? If being the best console is all about sales, as you seem to imply, then you're missing the boat. If GC was the king last gen, to you, then great. It was more powerful than PS2, RE4 for GC was a top 5 game last gen... you have your basis for making that statement, just as I have my basis for stating that I prefer the other consoles over Nintendo's, regardless of how fast they're flying off the shelves.

I'll say it again, sales don't mean **** to me when it comes to crowning something the best. Another example is Windows. Windows is more of a POS than an OS when compared to OSX or any of the many forms of Linux, but it sells the best, so its the king? If thats how you crown a king, sure, but I won't.

I think the only kids in here are the people who lack any knowledge of the industry and tend to think early failure is fatal. The TC made a topic on why Sony fans should be humbled. Why? Because they are dumb enough not to realise PS3 would struggle during it's first few years? If PS3 is struggling in 2 years time then yeah ring the alarm bells. You would have to be incredibly stupid to think PS3 at $599 would sell well during it's first year. PSP is different and sucked from the beginning, Sony had no clue about the Handheld Market yet still manage to sell 20 Million+ Units.

Based on the responses I've heard in my thread so far,

it appears Sony fanboys display the same level of denial and arrogance as the company they support.... Sony will lie, and deny their way through this generation for as long as they possibly can, but eventually, they will inevitably be brought to their knees by their competitors and shamefully forced to acknowledge the errors of their ways if they want to reconnect with the fanbase that turned their backs on them.

Or possibly it's because Resistance flopped, Motorstorm is a racing game without offline multiplayer, and pretty sub-standard online multiplayer, many multiplatform games are inferior, and a large portion of new games to ps3 already being released on the 360 months ago? Makes more sense to me. And having a ps2 ni possession doesn't justify the ps3 not living up to the hype.

actually get your facts straight buddy. Resistance did NOT flop both in sales and reviews. It has already sold +1million and its still selling. Motorstorm also is a moderate success selling 200,000 in america and topping European charts as well.

Resistance flopped? It sold over a million copies to a userbase of 3 million people. Not even Halo for Xbox 1 was purchased by 1/3rd of the user base. A launch title "flopping" :lol:, you fanboys just like the sound of the word flop, you literally have no factual basis for any of the statements you're making.  

Next, how is Motorstorms online sub-standard? Compared to what? Which 360 game offers anything like it?
