According to Sony fanboys, even the "stripped down" 20GB has more than the 360 premium.

Around80% of the PS3's in retail stores were the 60GB model.How could the 20GB model sell well if its hard to find it ?

The 20gb sold horribly, much like the Core 360 sells horribly, despite the cheaper price tag.

Also, who has said this will make the ps3 sell like hotcakes? It'll help, sure, but it won't start selling really well until it drops to $400 and the games start coming, and who knows if it'll ever start selling like hotcakes. Maybe when it hits sub-$200?

It's my opinion that even a $200 wont increase sales SUBSTANTIALLY for the PS3. With the Wii business model looking like a success, Joe 'casual' consumer still wont but it. If you look at the 360's sales and undeniable larger game library, the $400 price point isn't making that demographic buy it. The 360 is going to be surpassed by the Wii in short order, which to me, shows that even $400 is considered too high. With the PS3 being $400 and a smaller library what is going to convince the average John and Mary to buy it? By the way, I'm getting the PS3 with or without the price drop because of the games. How many other people think like that? Heil68

Oh yes it would. If the PS3 was 200$ cheaper it would sell like hotcakes. Quote me on it.

A price drop is always nice but the pot would be sweeter if the PS3 package included the following:

sixaxis rumble

blue tooth headset

hdmi cable

and they really need to make a point system, I do not want to use credit cards to purchase video game content.

The PS3 has no games and no content on their Playstation Store right now, so these things might make up for it. But hey at least now the PS3 is as cheap as the cheapest Blu Ray movie player. I still just want to play games though. So till then, I am just fine with the Xbox 360 Elite, Nintendo Wii, and the PC.

Needless to say that wasn't the reason Sony gave for discontinuing the 20GB, but Sony fanboys drunk the kool-aid with the reason they did give.
