Sony fans, 6 months later, did you expect the PS3 to be in dead last place?

PS3 was outsold by the Wii 5:1 in NA and Japan in the last recorded sales month... 

Before this console war started... 

Did you expect the PS3 to be doing so poorly in sales? is this all part of Sony's master plan?

Ever since the 600 dollar Price point.

Also, as a XBOX fan as well, Im really surprised that 360 was able to break the 10 million mark. I figured the PS3 would do that first.

I still laugh at KeyWii's the PS3 will outsell the 360 in Feb/March/April/May.

Well, I'm not a Cow, but a Sony fan. I expected the PS3 to sell about what it has with the price it's at. Comparable to 360's first 6 months on the market (without next-gen competition) the two systems have sold about the same. As for the Wii, it's an entirely different beast :o in a niche market...

Imagine when more AAA's and killer-apps come (many of which release this year :D ) and an inevitable price drop hits. Also, I predict PS3 sales to significantly catch-up in sales with the 360 next year due to titles like MGS4 and FFXIII hitting in the same year :o.

Every branch of sony has been in abit of trouble. Music, TV's, basicly most of the company has been having probs with the other companies who do afew things well such as apple.

 But the one part of the company that was golden shinning hope of sony was the PS brand name.

Every other branch wanted to have their piece in it. So other defunct parts of the company basicly infected the PS3 brand to help their own divisions . Bluray, music, tvs (1080p) , and hell even Vaio got in on it.

Sony is way to big vs the amount of profit they take in each year. To many employes and to many bosses. I know all the firings and forced early retirements angered alot of people , but if they had not done something to cut their over head we could have been looking at sony pushing the PS3 back or not releaseing it the way it is now. Hell I would go as far to say if they had not done these things shareholders would be revolting, with outside sources trying hostle takeovers. And small chance we would not be seeing a PS3 with all the chaos for a bit. 

Honestly, I thought the Cows of the industry (Devs, media, etc) would have just gladly accepted a fresh cow pie in the face regardless of the missteps and fumbles of Sony. I thought I was the last of a rare breed of gamer that actually wants a system that primarily plays games. Until launch all you read on boards around the world is how Blu-ray, Cell and the RSX will be the shinning light to gaming....completely ignoring the fact that HD gaming has been going on for years on dvd without a hiccup.

Although its sad to see Sony gaming division crashing and burning, it is nice to see the gaming returning to its roots....FUN!!!!

If the PS3 was a runaway success this gen, just think of what the PS4 would have cost being powerpacked full of BS!?!?!? Its good that the industry has backed off the pursuit of more features fed by Sony and are now trying to do what is right for the industry. to realize that a console is simply a toy, not a major appliance or the foundation of your living rooms.

I initially thought Ninty was out of thier mind with the Wii (name included), and the race would be between PS3 and 360, with the PS3 taking the lead based on hype and industry inability to accept change....

why cant sony fans answer the topic? its a simple yes or no answer, yet most of the responses are, "just wait" or "when the games come out and price drops...". hmm ok. that may or may not be the case, but the question remains, as of now being six months into the life span, did you think the ps3 would be dead last?

I'd like to hear your explanation as to how Sony's gonna go out of business for having a rough start with their new console in their gaming division? What about every other division of the company? Sony's more than just games bro, they won't go out of business because of a bad start. 

Once the wii's block busters of 07 are out...more hardcore gamers and multiplat owners will begin buying into the wii.  By the time games like Brawl, Metroid3, Finaly Fantasy CB and maybe No More Heroes/Day of Crisiis are our..the wii will not only appeal to casuals and non-gamers, but to hardcore gamers as well. 

I think Nintendo took a huge huge risk in the wii..if people hadn't bought into motion sensing...well who knows what would have happend to the godly N.  But they definately made a good move with a bit of luck, and is just walking all over the 360 and PS3.

But hey, things can change.  No one was expecting the wii to own so much...and not everyone expected the PS3 to have such a rocky start.  I think the next gen race will be set in stone by Q1, 2008.
