Sony fans desperately want a Halo killer

It looks like someone has started a petition to turn Free Radical and Ubisoft's Haze into a PlayStation 3 exclusive. As of this article's writing, only 5 people have signed the petition and the chances of this petition picking up doesn't look to be too good.

Now, the reasons for his request for exclusivity seem a bit weak. He cites that it has to be an exclusive if it is to become a Halo 3 killer. Additional reasons that he points to are Blu-Ray, which holds 50GB of data, and the PS3's processing power. He's afraid that it might be dumbed down due to the 10GB constraints of the Xbox 360 and PC.

I don't think people understand that Free Radical's games have NEVER been AAA or "halo killers." Don't get me wrong, I loved Time Splitters as much as the next guy but would never take it over Halo. Haze looks fun, but better than Halo 3? A new IP? I don't understand these fanboys sometimes...

Thats actually more than incorrect. MGS4 on 360 would be good but not as big as something comparable to Halo 3 on the PS3. The argument can be made (and possibly won) that MGS4 is a better game than Halo 3 (or will be) but the impact Halo 3 will have on the console battle is far beyond anything MGS4 could ever do.

As for Haze. I liked Free Radical better when they were Rare... and I liked Rare better when they were Free Radical.

Thats because Halo 3 will never come to the PS3 as its a Microsoft owned property, but MGS4 is not restricted to any platform as its rights are owned by a 3rd party. Huge difference. 

Halo killer? Killzone was named for that task but failed, and now it's Killzone 2. Really the only Halo killer here is Halo 3 since it will sell like mad, and Halo and Halo 2 will lost in the void. Or you could let it run it's course. Hermitkermit

Hardcore cows (and i call them hardcore because even though i support sony these things are stupid) would look to gets this exclusive to probably spite earlier exclusives loses, it doesnt look much ike a halo killer. and persides, we don't seem to be to interest in halo anymore, it seems to have burnt out from the beta....

Plus, i think halo has aleady been slain, by gears.

Unless Sony plans on paying out royalties. People tend to forget that fact. If not, you won't see MGS4 till a year later on the 360. By then, no one will care about it.

The game got a 9.2 for Xbox....but, according to Jeff, does not compete against PC games, which have higher standards. That spells suck to me. Halo 3 appears to have nothing going for it. As far as I'm concerned, Killzone has a fairly good chance to supercede Halo this generation (and just as good a chance to self-destruct itself). I don't care about Haze. I'm playing it (if it gets good reviews) whether its an exclusive or not. Asking developers to take a game off the market for 2 platforms is just asking for executive priviledge that does not exist.

The game will be on both platforms, it won't be the best game ever, and I don't care. We're getting Resistance Rise of Man, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, and Killzone 2. If one of those aren't Halo Killers, I'll get over it and settle for variety's sake.

Hotdaisy: A version on the 360 a year down the road with improvements will matter to a lot of people. You don't see Nintendo fans pointing out RE4 anymore (unless to say they had better graphics) because it came out later for the PS2. It effectively takes away an exclusive.

Adrian_Cloud: Sure Sony can pay to keep the game exclusive. But they haven't and they probably won't pay enough to make it worth it to Konami. And the point I was making was that the reason you dont see Cows posting about Halo going to the PS3 was that it was absolutely impossible whereas thats not the case for MGS3 going to the 360. Read what I was responding to, not just what I wrote.

Its not because PS3 has a ton of more worthy games (if you think that then you should compare libraries) thats not even the point. The point I was making was in terms of system sales. Halo 3 sells systems to casual gamers. People who will buy MGS4 alreadfy have their PS3s. Its not going to move any more systems then it already has. The average guy on the street doesn't care about it. Doesn't mean its a worse game or anything. It also doesn't mean Halo is bad just because it has mass appeal. Yeah... or maybe the game was already 3 years old? And you can say it sucks all you want. Youre clearly a fanboy with that icon there anyways. Killzone is pretty but theres no real reason to blindly assume the game will be good if all you have to go on ius the fact that the previous game was mediocre at best. And none of those games will be Halo killers so you can start settling right now. Which isn't really what I'd prefer to do when it comes to videogames, I prefer to have great games, not settle for bad ones as you put it.

Halo has to big of a rabid fanbase to allow a "halo killer" to exist in my opinion. Better games then halo have come out and never got the praise halo did. Hell Gears of War could be argued as far better then halo but no one mentions it because it is a microsoft game therefore doesn't count (i think thats dumb but whatever). Killzone 2 could be a better game but the halo fans whoa re int he majority would never admit to such a thing, and it doesn't matter. Halo is in no way the shooter to beat. The story isn't all that great, but the multiplayer is fun, I'll give it that, however, I'm already bored of the Halo 3 beta ;\

I think games like Warhawk, Socom Confrontation, (this is a big maybe but.) MAYBE Killzone 2 will all be more fun than Halo 3.

That's a pretty stupid thing to say.

Ahh, and while 360 fanboys and PS3 fanboys duke it out with their "MGS 4!!!!" that and "Halo 3 pwns!!!!" this us Wii owners will simply sit back, and have fun with Super Smash Bros Brawl, and Metroid Prime 3.darth-pyschosis

I have to agree.  This next E3 could announce a Halo 3 Killer.  Heck, the visuals barely if not beat Resistance fall of man.  Which by they way was a rushed game.  Sony forced them to be a first day seller.  At least the sequal is in the works. 

Killzone 2, since being hidden will probably own Halo 3.  I bet it will look better, play better, more options, longer story etc.  I bet its review will say choppy framerate too. 

My possible Halo 3 killers

Resistance Rise of Man, Killzone 2, any secret up Sony's sleeves.  Heck, out of left field, Metal Gear 4 could have an insane online model with its sick story.  We don't know yet.
