Sony fans who think the PS3 is going to make a comeback one day are dreaming

REALITY CHECK: this thing is selling worse than the Gamecube did. It will always be more expensive than the competition and have very few exclusive games for it. Even Square and Konami went on record making comments about not keeping their big games exclusive on the PS3.

Can you blame them? Who would want to break the bank on a game for a console as lacking in sales as the PS3? It's millions of units behind the 360 and Wii in sales, it's sales in japan and NA are woeful, and devs are jumping ship to the other platforms faster than you can say flop.

Sony being the first to give us a real gaming community (Home).

Sony being the first to let us download (or buy on blu ray disc) full next gen games (warhawk, SOCOM, wipeout, littlebigplanet).

Playstation appeases everywhere (In America, in Europe, and in Japan).

PS3 has a very well balanced lineup, in genres.

Not all multiplatform games, if any at all, will look better on the 360 than on the PS3 starting this fall. Developers finally have a hang on the system. DLC andextras could be different though.

Judging from E3, and the newest news that came recently, PS3 easily has a fighting chance, and with the right moves, Sony can do a console threepeat.

It's sort of a phyrric victory considering the PC version of UT3 will offer more mods more acessibly.

Actually, it kinda is historically. The PS2 took an early lead that was never taken away.

The N64 failed to knock the wind out of the PS1's sales once it was released in 1996.

When the SNES was released it knocked the Mega Drive out of the North American and Japanese markets right away.

The patterns that emerged when all consoles came on the market continued in those generations. Of course, these things aren't iron rules, anything can happen.

But I disagree with you that "through the entire gen it will be that way." I do not think the PS3, Wii, and 360 positions relative to one another will stay the same over the next 5 years.

Once some of the great PSN titles like Warhawk, Socom and UT3 which console wise, the PS3 version looks to be the definitive version of the game. I really think PS3 is going to be a haven for online games with games like the 3 mentioned above and others such as LittleBigPlanet and Killzone 2. And we've also just heard about MGS Online...

I'm a huge Sony fan, but I knew there was going to be a pricedrop, as do millions of others - now that the PS3 is coming down into the range where people will buy them, we're going to see sales spike like we're already seeing. Once the holdays come around and PS3 has all it's big guns on the market, as does the Xbox... I really think that will be a good sign of which console has more momentum. We'll see come winter 07 - I've got my bets on PS3.

A thread that had zero backing - watch the interview with Mark Rein, he discusses MS's closed system. Will MS make a special exception for Epic? I'm not sure. What I am sure of - UT3 for PS3 is on par with the PC visually, it's locked at 60FPS, it'll have full mod support and it'll freakin rock. When is the 360 version even coming out, according to Mark Rein is was "sometime in 2008".

Like it was mentioned before - not even really a HDD issue, it's MS network that's getting in Epics way. Hopefully they find a way around, for me however... it doesn't matter. Come November I'll be playing one of the best Multiplayer FPS's we'll see for a long time.

Fact is, there's a precedent on the 360 for requiring a HDD to play a game, and I can't see why UT3 can't be part of this.
