PS4 console sales are up, Xbone console sales are down ( who gives a shit about MAU ). Good!
Probably 2017 is a peak year for PS4. That's why Sony predicted less PS4 sales ( 18 mil. ) for FY 2018
Why do you think Xbox One sales are down? Also everyone with a bit of common sense gives a shit about MAU
these are shipped numbers not sold numbers...what is sony hiding?
/emgesp impression
Hahaha.
Still slightly ahead of the PS2 (though it should fall behind soon enough I think) which is fairly impressive on it's own:
---
On a more general "Sony news" they are, apparently, expecting their 2nd biggest profit margin ever for next year. The biggest since their "peak year", 20 years ago!
Sony forecasts operating profit to rise to 500 billion yen ($4.50 billion) from 288.7 billion yen a year prior, when earnings were roughly in line with a revised estimate announced earlier this month.
The outlook compared with the 510.58 billion yen average of 27 analyst estimates compiled by Thomson Reuters.
If achieved, it would be the highest profit since its peak, of 525.7 billion, set in the year through March 1998, on strong sales of consumer electronics and a boost from box-office hit "Man in Black" as well as the popularity of the first PlayStation.
So, some people are starting to do the math with the numbers and apparently...
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=234996061&postcount=92
So this report only seems to have gaming revenue number for whole year.
I searched Google and found previous quarter revenue numbers. Is this calculation correct?
Q1+Q2+Q3: 330.4 + 319.9 + 617.7 = 1,268 billion yen.
FY2016: 1,649.8 billion yen.
Q4: 1,649.8 - 1,268 = 381.8 billion yen revenue for the gaming and network sector in Q4 alone.
= $3.43 billion.
Compared to MS's combined gaming revenue of $1.928 billion last quarter.
Granted this is 1 person saying this, so don't take it as fact just yet. If (again IF) true, those are some very impressive numbers.
@FastRobby:
In last quarter report MS mentioned Xbone hardware sales are down, but software were up. Now they mentioned software sales are up but not a single mention of hardware sales, which also is indication for lower sales. Logic sense. Who gives a shit about MAU.
So, sold through numbers are probably PS4: ~59 million vs Xbox One ~27 million, worldwide LTD. Roughly.
@Desmonic: Should be correct, the only thing I'm wondering is that maybe he should first change the numbers to dollars for the exchange rate of that time, and then do all the calculations. Might have an influence on the numbers
Sony generated ¥715 billion from PlayStation Network sales alone in FY16.
— Daniel Ahmad (@ZhugeEX) April 28, 2017
That's more than Nintendo's total FY16 revenue (¥489 billion)
I updated the infamous chart

Really shows you just how low Nintendo's digital revenue is. Nintendo's digital rev. are lowest in the industry pic.twitter.com/TBErpLEovZ
Whelp. Switch better be a hit for Nintendo :P
Whelp. Switch better be a hit for Nintendo :P
yea just wait until nintendo butt rams all its customers with paid online like sony did.
that will bring up digital revenue.
o wait... is this just eshop game sales?
well old school cartridges old school customers... nintendo is the nostalgia company lets not forget. you dont have to install games on nintendo so there is more incentive to buy physical.
@Desmonic:
Well, MS number includes all gaming parts : XB1, W10 PC, Minecraft and so on, while Sony's gaming division is just PlayStation.
Don't be a hypocrite. Both XBO and W10 PCs are W10 based platforms.
So, some people are starting to do the math with the numbers and apparently...

Right, thanks for confirming that I'm blind! :P
So my calculation was not that far off. I got $3.3bn instead of $3.42bn.
Edit: Wait no, I got it exactly right: 381.8bn yen as stated in the report.
Sony grouped "games and network services" together.

That's exactly why they'll start charging for online. That alone will give them a steady flow of money every single quarter. Then, of course, if you get people to "invest" in the network in the first place they'll also be more likely to buy stuff (games, apps, whatever) from it too. On that front Nintendo needs to NOT drop the ball. Part of the reason Sony and MS do so much money from their storefronts are the constant deals. While launch prices (for games) are piss poor, if you wait a few months the games will go on sale, and no, they're usually not as good as the ones on Steam or Galaxy or even Origin sometimes, but they're sales/deals nonetheless.
In fact, the EU PSN seems to have been in constant sales since January this year. Seriously, every month they've had some games on sales. Sure most of the times it's not stuff that interests me in particular, but I'm sure said sales help getting the money flowing a lot more easily.
@ronvalencia:
Sony's network is PSN. And as i said : MS number includes all gaming parts : XB1 ( XBL ), W10 PC, Minecraft and so on. Got a problem with that?
Cheers!
Sony has Vita, PS3, PS4, PS Now and PSN.

You mean like the 2.4 milion SHIPPED switch units..hahahahahahaa
What is nintendo hiding..hahahaaa
@ronvalencia: I'm sure the 12 Vitas sold in 2016 increased the profit margin by $1Billion :P
Hahahahaha is a beauty seeing him try to downplay sony..hahahaha
He make some arguments some times that you really have to read it like 3 times to believe he is being serious..
One of my favorites is when he claimed that xbox one backward compatibility counted as another xbox 360 sold, because he wanted to claim that the xbox 360 wasn't outsold by the PS3..hahaha
Don't be a hypocrite. Both XBO and W10 PCs are W10 based platforms.
MS revenues even include money make on PS4.. Hahahahahaa
Minecraft is a MS owned game and sell on PS4,so MS profits include PC,xbox and even PS4..hahahahahahaha

So what you're saying is that they're good at business and can profit even from their main competitor, gotcha.

What does that mean? Does MS charge a licence fee as part of the Xbox cost for Windows? So because MS dumped a cut down closed version of Windows 10 on the Xbox, they count them as both the same thing? Doubt it, Xbox and Windows PC are likely looked at as two distinctly different products that share functions.
Sony gave shipment numbers, clearly the PS4 tanked.
In all seriousness, that's some good news. Does that make this better than the same quarter last year?

As far as I've gathered yes:
Though I haven't checked these myself, so I can't confirm them.

MAU is important it shows how many gamers sign in to game on your network, everyday. Sony for whatever reason don't talk about this?
Is very hard to read Sony Financials they calculate in yen number's and you have to calculate the exchange rate to different currencies.
From what i can tell and what other people have said Sony made 3 billion last quarter (gaming revenue) it could be less and MS made 1.9 billion gaming revenue.
60 million consoles shipped/sold. They predicting 18 million shipments or sold for rest of the year.

Awesome news! PS sales up, Xbox sales up, Nintendo sales up. And they say console sales are dead.
Micheal Pachter new revelation (prediction) "Console software is gonna move off consoles. In the next two to three years, you're gonna have the opportunity to download to your PC and play on your TV. In the next 10 years you're gonna download to your phone and play on your TV.," he said"
Guy is an idiot how hes paid for this trash? Does he not understand, latency, data limitation, networking, you need hardware upgrades to run games/quality settings.
So what you're saying is that they're good at business and can profit even from their main competitor, gotcha.
No what i am saying is that the PS4 is such a freaking critical hit that even MS want to make money on it..hahahha
When your console is so attractive to developer that even the competition has its biggest IP on it..

Unless it gets a price drop. That will shoot it up some more. But knowing Sony, they might just keep it there.

Microsoft wants to make money, they're a business, you're making it seem like some kind of negative like they're lucky for the PlayStation 4 and gaining revenue by using it, and at the same time inferring it's something Sony is doing for them and they should be thankful, it's ridiculous.
I don't know what your boner is for Sony and why you shill for them to the degree you seem to, but the PlayStation 4 is likely one of their weaker platforms in terms of monetization for this game so don't try to manipulate perception because it's a successful device in other regards.
It's straight up weird man, take a step back.

Your own thread
and it revealed that it generated $1.928 billion in revenues from Xbox and Windows 10 gaming
“Xbox software and services revenue grew 7 percent driven by continued adoption of digital distribution and a strong game lineup,” Microsoft explained in a note to investors.

Minecraft was already on PS4 before Microsoft bought Mojang. Should they've taken the game from their catalogue? Doesn't make any sense, and would be ridiculous anti-consumer behaviour. Don't forget that Microsoft is a business, and wants to make money. There's a reason why you can find Linux on Azure.

Yup. When you have a game that even pulls solid numbers on the damn Vita (1million in Japan alone!) the last thing you ever want to do is "kill it" on said platforms. Easy money maker.
