Sony has achieved success again!!!!

Another week has passed and the PS3 has once again topped the 360 in sales. I am sure that this will continue through out the lifespan of the 60gig model. I do also hope that they immediately drop the price of the 80gig, because sales would see a tremendous jump if so. I really have a good feeling about the PS3s success now, but i dont think it will catch up until next year. If this is a sign of hoe many people have awaited a cheaper model, the PS3 may have 10 million sales by the end of the year. AND MGS4 ISN'T OUT YET!!!!!! :o :D ;)snorlaxmaster

Just give it some time and Sony will catch up. Although, I am disappointed by their recent actions regarding the introduction of the 80GB. They used the 60GB pricecut as leverage. haha Genius but cruel.

Are cows really so desperate that the PS3 outselling the 360 two weeks in a row (I'm still waiting on NPD numbers since vgcharts is anywhere from 7-22% off) is worth this kind of celebration? Why is this a test? The 80gb model will be 499$... do you really think Sony will ONLY offer a bundled model? What they are doing is obvious, I don't understand why people don't get it. OK...What's more likely...

A.) Sony drops the bundled 80gb bundle, introduces a new non-bundle for 499.

B.) Sony jacks the price up 100$, essentially killing sales considering people have been able to get the PS3 for 500$. And then only offering a bundle model, or, even dropping the bundle model and still charge 599$.

Sure they won't admit it, and why would they..

The sales will start to slow once all the 60 gig models are gone and the price goes back to $599.99

I think FF13 will be the PS3's console pusher, if it's released within the next 20 years. Little Big Planet will help a lot too.

Maybe this would have been wiser:

Sony reveals the 60 GB price drop and keeps the 80 GB model quiet for at least a little while, thereby avoiding bad press. Then once some time goes by and 60 GB models are starting to run out, then they announce a $499 80 GB model. Assuming that you are correct, they are probably only doing this so that they can announce two price drops (the current one and the future 80 GB price drop).

Ultimately, I don't know what they are going to do. My faith in them being logical or honest faded long ago. What I do know is that I hate playing the "what if" game, which is what you are doing. Even if it is built around logic, I still hate it. As of right now, the PS3 will cost $599 once the 60 GB version runs out. Until I hear differently, that is what the future holds, regardless of your hypothesizing.

Man... do I have to get scared out of System Wars every time I try and give it another chance? This is ticking me off, a bunch of fanboys (mostly; not to offend the few who are actually smart here), arguing, no one ever getting convinced.

Personally, I see the Wii definately coming out on top, with the 360 following, and the PS3 in the rear. The sooner the PS3 looses it's exclusives, the better. Means that there's not those few games that actually make me consider a PS3; as compared to the loads of 360 games.

Until they DO IT, it isn't obvious. And considering Sony's past with the PS3, option B is actually pretty likely, stating with a straight face, "Well... with the blu ray player and added value, we believe this is a fair and competetive rate." Until it's announced one way or the other, it's just conjecture. After the past two years of watching Sony's marketing division bungle things up, I don't trust them to DO the rational or logical thing, to be frank. Believe me, I'm EAGER to be proven wrong!

PS3 has some good games but it doesn't have council pushers like Smash, Galaxy, Gears or Halo.

i agree somewhat, but i think its reasonale to say the ps3 is on pace for 7.0 million by end of the year....but see how there are so much solid games coming to the ps3 between september and december, i see the ps3 reaching 8.5 million...then by the start of next year, the ps3 will start selling like hotcakes worldwide because of games like MGS4 and Killzone 2..

this is getting really annoying ever sindce e3 cows have been making these stupid threads about how ps3 is god. There all like OMG TEH PRICE DROP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. The price drop only means two things

1) The ps3 can't possibly be profitable if it is $499

2)By august the hype about the drop will fade and sales will go down

NO i don't agree cuz those games will only appeal to ppl who all ready own a ps3. these games are not console pushers cuz they don't appeal to a wide enough market to make them console seller's

1st Killzone flopped so I do not see why cows think the next is going to be a system seller. Wait to see how it scores as of right now people will not rush to buy a game that flopped first time.

I also think 7 million may even be a stretch. PS3 has not even sold 4 million in 9 months with worldwide launches and you think they will sell 3 + million in 5 months?
