Apple destroyed it migthy WALKMAN with the IPOD, Walkman was a huge empire for SONY, but they loose it and taht Empire doesnt exist nomore, Walkman is DEAD and SONY isnt in that field anymore, Sony is seccond in TV's field behind SAMSUNG, Sonyother empire was the telecomunications with it parthner Erricson, SONY ERRICSON are gona get smashed big time like walkman, Apple is goin after Sony, Iphone will b releae this months and Sony erricons will b gone forever like walkman.

Slow slow Apple is takin market share beside its computer field, and Sony is gettin less and less market share from all its fields

So whats left for SONY? ps3, taht its last in sells.

Open your eyes people. Sonny is gettin smashed by 3 companies, APPLE, MICROSOFT AND NINTENDO, SONY CANT HOLD IT NOMORE, AND IF THE PS3 ISNT A SUCCES, THEN WE WILL JUST SEE SONY MAKING TV'S FOREVER.

Are you seriously comparing the cassete playing walkman with the ipod? Most kids here probably have never seen one.

You dont have a clue. If sony's going to lose because they'rer second in lcd's then panasonic, philips and all those other brands must also be doomed. Would you like a world where there's no competition and every product is monopolized by one brand or something? Your phone comparison is even dumber since nokia is still market leader by far.

My god, this is one of the dumbest threads i've seen.

Wouldn't it be funny if sony and apple merged together to create the ultimate competetor with microsoft? Imagine that. In the same way Squaresoft became Square Enix, Sony becomes iSony.

He’s referring to the Sony Walkman which was like the Ipod. The commercials featured that weird little creature going to college and what-not. It was furry and blue – lol. Still, his post is horrible and would be taken more seriously if he’d even tried to spell check.

The difference? Sony Ericsson's multimedia cell phone business is a well established field where they are the leader and the iPod was a new field..something Apple traditionally does well in.

Look at the backlash from Safari for Windows, Apple doesn't do well in pre-existing markets and I doubt they will do well with the Cell phone market considering how technologically inferior and overpriced the iPhone is compared to the competition.

Somehow, I don't think there will be an iPhone nano, or an iPhone shuffle for that matter.

One of the big selling points with the iPhone is that it uses OS X technology to drive it, so it should hopefully be more robust and stable than those Windows mobile-based smartphones.

It just wouldn't make sense for Apple to bring out a mini/nano/shuffle version of the iPhone; certainly not in the near future anyway. And not a moment before the iPhone matures and proves itself to either be a success or failure.

iphone is so unnecessarily overpriced, even more so than ps3(ps3 isn't really overpriced, but since the general consensus is that it is, i will use that opinion to argue). plus it's easy to break. it will no way be as breakthrough as ipod. and NOBODY WILL BUY IT.

and if you would think about anywhere else in the world besides the US, sony's got apple OWNED in terms of mobile phones. in example, india and japan, 3/4 cell phones there are sony ericsson, while NO ONE has an iphone....

and how is sony getting smashed by microsoft and nintendo? all they're doing is selling a console that sells in the same market as playstation does.

No it's not. It lacks wireless push email support for Microsoft Exchange and IBM Lotus Domino for business users. It also fails to incorporate AT&T's high speed 3G wireless technology.

and why would the iphone be considered something for business?? with the way the working class is today, it would be more problematic to implement new touchscreen controls, because they are all computer illiterate. it won't become anything but a rich man's toy, at that price. jeez, 600 AFTER a 2 year plan... horrendous. even more horrendously priced than xbox 360.

Keep in mind, with wi-fi being so wide spread now, it's not a big deal to miss out on 3G. But, I can't say for sure. We'll have to find out!

Differing reports...Might want to stop taking Steve Jobs word for it. Take into account all the problems with the rest of Apple's products and I'm skeptical. Especially sense the reports from Cingular that it only allowed 40 minutes of talk time before it needed a recharge. Now while Apple is saying this is fixed I remain....skeptical.

Why wouldn't you get a 2 year plan with a cell phone :|

When they designed it, they wanted every feature to be two touches away. I think people will be able to figure it out, no matter how illiterate you say they all are. Which by the way, I'm impressed. That's a lot of people to talk to. I mean, you had to talk to all business men to figure out they're all illiterate.

Because maybe I would like to not be obligated to be stuck with a provider when the phone stops holding a charge and the service quality sucks.

Every provider thus far in my experience has been the same. The first year, everything is generally working just fine. I may have to replace the phone within the one-year warranty, but otherwise the coverage does its job. But that second year you're still obligated to stay witht hem, the service immediately takes a nosedive, the phone can barely hold a charge, and the phone you got for free or paid so much money for can't even hold or place a call anymore.

Being able to buy the phone and get a shorter contract or no contract at all is a very powerful thing to have available.

So they had a problem with one product. A minority of one generation of one product. Regarding your sisters' troubles with her iPod, how old is it, and did she charge it constantly? If she always had it on the charger after using it, the battery is going to start to die out. It's just like a cell phone in that regard.

Use a rechargable product until it's nearly spent- then plug it in and recharge it, then take it off the charger. This is common practice. This is how I used my iPod and cell phone, and they're both going strong after 2 years.

She had to start charging it constantly right after the 1 year warranty ended. She did the regular practice up until then. And while it might be 1 freak occurrence there are a bunch of forums talking about this problem. Not only for the video Ipod either.

and why would the iphone be considered something for business?? with the way the working class is today, it would be more problematic to implement new touchscreen controls, because they are all computer illiterate. it won't become anything but a rich man's toy, at that price. jeez, 600 AFTER a 2 year plan... horrendous. even more horrendously priced than xbox 360.

Why wouldn't you get a 2 year plan with a cell phone :|

When they designed it, they wanted every feature to be two touches away. I think people will be able to figure it out, no matter how illiterate you say they all are. Which by the way, I'm impressed. That's a lot of people to talk to. I mean, you had to talk to all business men to figure out they're all illiterate.

come on man, you know what i meant. the vast majority of the working class is "how do you work this here doohickey?"

well, not that bad, but still. i agree it would be easier to use if people could figure it out and get used to it. but the problem is, people won't.

iphone is so unnecessarily overpriced, even more so than ps3(ps3 isn't really overpriced, but since the general consensus is that it is, i will use that opinion to argue). plus it's easy to break. it will no way be as breakthrough as ipod. and NOBODY WILL BUY IT.

and if you would think about anywhere else in the world besides the US, sony's got apple OWNED in terms of mobile phones. in example, india and japan, 3/4 cell phones there are sony ericsson, while NO ONE has an iphone....

and how is sony getting smashed by microsoft and nintendo? all they're doing is selling a console that sells in the same market as playstation does.

I'm buring an iPhone as soon as it coems out.

why? if you're that rich, obviously you already have an ipod, and a multimedia/business phone(blackberry, chocolate) i don't understand why you would pay that much for so much stuff you already have.

I know, I was just pulling your chain (overexaggeration for the win ;) ). I don't think you're giving people enough credit, though. With every operation a mere two touches away, I can't imagine people would have a hard time figuring it out.

Tha'ts my point.
