Now we just get a PS3 with 20GB more storage, for the same price as before.

they have learnt nothing in the last year sales wise!

they think since they showed some good looking stuff at e3 everyone will go rush out and get a console for 600 sheets!

the wii has proven so far the games dont have to look graphicaly amazing to sell a system its al about the pricing!

i dont know who on earth is in charge of these sort of decision at sony HQ but they NEED to be fired. they screwed over europe and now eventually they're gonna screw NA late comers. Pure and simple arrogance. if after the 60 is discontinued they remove the 2 games and sell the 80 gig for $500 then that's ok, but still there's PAL regions.

Wow... Sony must think that the consumers are dumb. The 80 gig version ps3 has less value than the 60 gb ps3 because of the emotion engine.

Ps3 will always be 600 dollar and it will never be sucessful.

You don't know if the 80GB will have its price drop till then.

id bet money that journalists are adding the usa part in simply due to the fact that the 80gig version has only been announced when in theory he's talking about europe getting rid of the 60 gig ps3 in favor of the 80 gig.

This is, quite possibly, the worst decision they have made. Seriously, this is just terrible. At least wait until you've sold them to all the ones willing to accept a $500 price tag before you do this!

wait wait wait.let me get this straight.the 60gig version will be dropped by the end of the month when stocks run out. and by next month the price will be back up to $600 for the 80gig. v-vega75

Looks like they figured out the skeem long before us. I still think people that liked what they saw at E3 an have the moneyare gonna go buy those 60gigs to save that hundred dollars anyways.

No the 60gig is not going to go back to $600. They are not going to be selling both 60gig and 80gig at $600, that is unless you believe as they do that all the 60gigs out there will be sold out by the end of the month. The thing is who knows how many of them are sitting on shelves? It may take till almost Christmasmaybe Sony will just take alot of them back and recycle them for 80gigs lol. You never know. Regardless once the 60's are gone the 80's will sit on shelves till next year or till the actual price drop.
