Then make the system worth less. Sony isn't thinking of the consumer much at all with this plan. Either that or they only want to target a very specific market, and that market isn't going to carry the portable in today's market.A system that's well worth $300+ as it is is being sold for $250, and you think it should come with more? Consumers are very intelligent.

Don't like it, don't buy it. I and many others don't pay for live for a reason. If you don't want to pay, wait for a price drop with a bundle.

Usually companies do all kinds of market research, not just for the products design but also to determine pricing and the types of bundles/accessories that they can "get away with" selling at a premium.
Now obviously Sony's market research must suck giant donkey balls or else they wouldn't have thought it OK to price the PS3 at $599 and then people to get 2 jobs it pay for it.
In all seriousness though, Sony doesn't need to bundle even 4GB in. They defintiely should include SOME memory though, even as small as 1GB or less built-in just for basic game saves. It is lame if some games actually REQUIRE a separate accessory SD card. It would be OK to sell proprietary memor "moneymaker" if these were just optional, but they should give the customer some barebones minumum of memory so that no game actually REQUIRES a separate add-on from the get-go. Maybe in the end we'll see that actually the cards aren't 100% required on day 1.
Then simply don't make it worth more than it sells for. Simple business practice that the majority of companies live by. Sell everything for a profit. You honestly wouldn't know the difference if they had announced the Vita with slightly less powerful hardware a year ago, you'd still be excited about the tech leap. Off topic: I wonder what the clock speed on the Vita's GPU is, where it lies between Wii/3DS and PS3A system that's well worth $300+ as it is is being sold for $250, and you think it should come with more? Consumers are very intelligent.

Just like MS builds their own custom made hard drives. I find it even more ridiculous that a console is sold with 4gb at this day and age frankly.I total agree........the PSVita is a very amazing system and the price is very good for a system like the PSVita.Did the 3DS price was 250$ on start...??lol The biggest rip-off i ever have see...lolHow do you think they are keeping the price at $250? A cellphone with these specs would retail at like $600.

[QUOTE="Eponique"][QUOTE="Pug-Nasty"]The 3DS comes with 4GB I believe. It is not the same type of memory.......The PSVita memory is a new format, for piracy, and they are the most fast type of memory. Yea, because we all know Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick Duo Micro stopped piracy. When the Japanese have piracy already rampant on the Vita by new year's day that entire new memory card format will be for nothing more than to get more money from consumers.4GB? What an odd amount of memory to expect to get with the system.

I doubt adding 1GB-4GB of flash memory would cost anything, these things retail for less than $8 while being sold at a massive profit, plus sony would get a large discount. I'm sure Sony could add 2GB storage if they wanted into each unit for like $1. They don't want to, obviously. How do you think they are keeping the price at $250? A cellphone with these specs would retail at like $600.

But that's the point, it's another $8 out of each system you sell, which if you do sell a lot turns out to be quite a bit. In order to lessen the blow (which at this point any blow Sony takes is one felt throughout the company), force consumers to buy your proprietary memory units on which you actually turn a profit. It's a ploy to market the Vita as being less expensive than it actually is.
I dig the Vita, but the drawbacks are too much to be an early adopter. Give it 2-3 years for a redesign with better battery life, a more full catalog of games, and more appealing price point and I'm in.

That's how I feel. I didn't purchase a 3DS until it had been out for some time and I was rewarded with a price drop and good games. I'll wait for the same to happen to the VITA.

Why did you ignore the part where I said it would cost them $1 instead of $8? If 2GB SD card, USB drive, etc cost $8 at retail, they are likely being sold at a 50% profit minimum, meaning it probably costs in the $2-$4 to make it, ship, market it, etc. Ok, well Sony/Nintendo/MS all get massive discounts for ordering in massive quantities for contracts that last 3-5 years on hardware. They could easily get someone like Toshiba, to produce 1GB-2GB flash memory for the Vita and sell it to them for $1 each, maybe even less. The idea is here that a 4GB PSV Memory Card retails for $30, likely costs less than $10, let's just say somehow it costs $15 to make, that's a $15 profit per card for Sony. That's why they're doing it, to make more money obviously even if it would cost so very little to put in the Vita, infact wouldn't they have to contract someone else to make the flash memory itself, to put into their PSV casing anyway? What you gonna do? Play the PS Vita games on your camera? The PS Vita can have it's own standard, because you don't need to use it anywhere else, and it's probably faster. At least Sony is giving you the option of upgrading the storage, unlike the Iphone. Martin_G_NMaybe save photos to the same SD card, so I don't have to buy a new one? Or maybe if I don't feel like taking my phone with me to somewhere, but I still want my music, I can stick the SD Card into my PS Vita or 3DS? And I bought an Android phone for many reasons, and standard, expandable storage was one of them.

[QUOTE="dracolich55"]Kinda like Ninty releasing the 3DS at $250 without any games. Its like buying a computer without a operating system.bonesawisready5Actually the 3DS shipped with Puzzle Swap, Find Mii, Face Raiders, as well as gave out ExciteBike 3D, Pokedex for free. Also, I have 20 free games from them due to the price drop. Every single one of those are terrible. Just put the word decent in front of any and his post is very, very true. Oh and lol at the 20 free games bit. First of all there's only 10 of the 20 to download so far, and almost all of them are complete trash. The only one that is even remotely ok is Super Maro Bros. I have a 3DS btw. The 20 free games thing is an absolute joke. They could have at least had the decency to either give away games that weren't complete trash, or better yet let people choose any 20 games they want. Also the launch lineup sucked major balls. The only decent games were ports of games I already own. One of which I already have on another handheld for an insanely low price(Rayman 2 on PSP via PSN). God I wish I never bought this thing. That price drop was above and beyond a dick move by Nintendo. A bunch of crappy NES games don't make up for that. Here's to hoping the GBA games are at least decent.
