I don't expect to people to comment this. I expect people to stop with absurd statements of Sony dying. It's not like the Vita is the only thing Sony is selling. Stop with those doomsday threads to Sony.

It's all about advertisements, if Sony wanted to, they could make everyone in America buy a Vita, they'd just have to out-advertise Apple's iPad.

The "stop saying X company will die" threads are more annoying than the actual "X company will die" threads.

The product needs to have an interesting feature for that.

Tikeio

You are basing yourselves in the sales of one console to a country that worships Nintendo.

Sony sells Playstation 3, TV's, Audio systems and other things. It's not like the Vita was going to put them in front of the market.

It's foolish to declare a company dead based on these first sales. Obviously you know anything about economy.

This is a gaming forum so when people say that Sony is going the Sega way they (hopefully) don't mean the entire company. Sony executives won't greenlight another console if its going bad for them financially gen after gen.

***** Note ****** This picture is real, from the riots in the UK.

Sony IS in big trouble. They had to sell of their LCDs to Samsung, and their Spiderman propriety. Also it seems like Sony pictures will be sold in the near future. (Wall street speculation.) Sony/Ericsson is also being devastated by new companies like HTC. I don't think Playstation will be going under, at least not for a while.

Obviously, you've fell for a trap that you should have ignored and not taken seriously.

That's the whole point of the "Sony is doomed" topics. It's just to get Sony dick riders to whine for everyone's amusement, hence this topic.

Sony is not doomed. Although they do need to smarten up and start launching their products correctly. PS3 is my favorite console this gen, but they did some really stupid things at launch. The Vita's launch also could and should have been handled much better in Japan. Either way though, Sony is not doomed.

I don't think they are going anywhere either. I think people are concerned due to the poor sales of their Bravia T.V., Blu-Ray players, and other electronics. They have been in the red for the last 3 quarters. Vita did sell poorly after the initial launch, but so did the 3DS. We'll have to wait and see how it does in the US and UK regions. Sony's stocks had dropped 50% as well. See for yourself.

http://www.advfn.com/p.php?pid=qkquote&symbol=NY^SNE

Not trying to be a hater. Just trying to provide some proof as to why some people are saying that Sony is dying. I personally don't think they are, but they haven't been doing great in the market the last couple of years. I think they can recover over time.

I'm not a Sony dick rider, I got a ps3 this Christmas. I always owned a PC, and I had a 360 since 2008. I love the gaming world, I don't «marry» a console, I just play the majority of games I can.

Here, I defend Sony because most of you don't know what you're talking. Just because the crowd says Sony is doomed, you all agree.

If Sony was bankrupt, the next-gen would be a total flop.

Playstation 4 wouldn't exists, so no core game exclusives

Xbox 720 will pour a lot of focus on Kinect, so a lot of casual games

Wii-U is a casual console, enough said.

The route Xbox is taking with the casual stuff and Kinect is what it's making me like less of Microsoft and more of Sony. I am not an economical expert, but I have the standard teachings to know that such thing won't happen.

The PSVita wasn't even released globally and you already doom it..

I really like the products Sony makes. However, I am suprised they didn't learn that a price tag on a product is a huge deal. Some companies like Apple might be able to get away from that, but Sony can't.

What a silly thing to say. Japan is the only country where the PSP is still alive, and you should know that if you want to convince people that you know what you're talking about.

The only profitable division Sony has is SCE, and if the Vita fails then that will become another money toilet like the rest of their divisions.

You think that's all us Vita-doubters are basing our beliefs on? If so, then no wonder you seem confused enough to create this thread.

Sony's older LCD HDTV were crap, but the new LED Bravia are pretty good. I don't like the way their apps are set up on their menu though. I like Samsung HDTV a bit more. I own both so I can easily judge the quality. I'll be getting a 40in Samsung HDTV in the future.

Also, to the person who mentioned Sucker Punch. That movie bombed at the box office. It cost $82 Million to make and only made $36 million back. I thought the movie was decent, but not great. I gave it 3 stars out of 5. So that movie would have actually lost more money for Sony. Luckily Sony didn't produce it. It was Warner Bros.

new ps3 owner here as well, picked one up a few weeks ago. already completed uncharted 2, working on uncharted 3 and god of war 3...that is, when i'm not playing gears 3, bf3 or skyrim 3 on 360. just downloaded dc universe online yesterday, pretty good for free i gotta say.

uncharted, while good, is overrated imo.

I have a Bravia XBR 4 myself. It think it's an excellent LCD. I've always been a fan of Sony TVs from back in the Trinitron/wega eras. Their computers have always been terrible.

"well duh of course they are not going anywhere."

then sony sells off it's interest in lcd televisions and starts to outsource all their tech divisions. lol, ironic right?

Ill agree about the laptop, it is really nice looking but doesnt have much of the functions others have but I dont know much about computers at all really. Strangely, I've had many people attempt to trade me what I thought were nicer laptops for mine but I never have. TV is about the same as others imo. I like PS3 over other consoles because of my onine clan I played with for 5 years but I do play 360 exclusives and sometimes the Wii when my gf makes me. Im just a Sony brand slut I guess. The customer service and warranty/protection plans always seem better then other brands though imo.

I don't expect to people to comment this. I expect people to stop with absurd statements of Sony dying. It's not like the Vita is the only thing Sony is selling. Stop with those doomsday threads to Sony.

Sony won't be going anywhere, however they can't continue the way they have been they need to change their ways and change them fast. They're up to their necks in debt and have already started selling off assets, and I can see them down sizing the company in the next few years, will this effect their gaming division who knows.

It'sclose, considering nobody is buying anything else and Sony thought it would be a good idea to throw out a Tablet under the radar with no advertising and thinking that would sell. Which as of yesterday is also code red. So yeah, Vit is the only thing they are selling along with PS3 financial wise.

[QUOTE="percech"] Sony makes crappy tvs now, and their Vaio laptops aren't even in the top 5 for quality.OfficerLeach_

The Vaio brand has always been trash. It is the perfect example of form over function.

Lol yeah, i was about to type the Vaio brand is usually bought by people that don't know much about computers but I didn't want to make it sound negative..

They priced the tablet too high. Plus the tranformer Prime is the only Android tablet that high end tablet buyers car about.

Anyone who says that Sony is not in a world of hurt has not looked at their quarterly financials lately. That being said, I hope they can reverse the ship. But they are a big company with (probably) too many employees and they definitely have too many products.

But they will in about a few years from now if they keep it up with more big losses throughout most of their divisions.

I won't deny Sony is hurting. I think people here tend to overlook, however, that the Playstation brand has been turning profits for Sony - it just gets forgotten among the losses of Sony's other divisions.

Price doesn;t matter when 98% of the potential buyers including a few Sony and Electronic store employees not knowing it existed. Also mentioning no advertising or promotion, thinking the Sony nameitself will sell it like those god awful looking Vaio laptops that don;t even look like High-tech computers.

Nintendo should buy Sony.
