Sony: Killzone 2 3D Patch Was A Misunderstanding

News that Sony is preparing stereoscopic 3D enabling patches for Killzone 2 and Gran Turismo 5.

Sony has sent out a clarification and an apology explaining that no such patches are planned and that the whole matter was a misunderstanding.

"Unfortunately, our feature did not make it clear that the 2D game footage was included for demonstration purposes only," Sony explained. "We apologize for the erroneous inference that 3D versions of LBP, Wipeout HD, Killzone 2, Gran Turismo 5 or Super Stardust HD are in production."

I would love to play a FPS or a racing game in 3D.

Someone posted this (they said this in Qore), Sony also had a comment toward it again.

Sony afterwards said they didn't mean to imply that all those games ( LBP, Wipeout HD, Killzone 2, Gran Turismo 5 or Super Stardust HD) won't be getting the 3D patch, just they haven't announced which ones are yet (maybe waiting for E3).

So technically there is a chance that KZ2 is getting a 3D patch. But who knows!

But i've just spent £10,000 on a new TV to play them both.... Thanks again sony :roll:

Wow 6 posts in and nobody is claiming Sony killed gaming because of this. Not even one "EFF THIS, I bought my PS3 for 3D!" I am impressed SW.Hahadouken

well theres only a few who actually bought the PS3 for 3D gaming, I guess it was an extra

Well as i seen SW don't really like 3D currently :p

I don't know if there's that reality show called Big Brother in you countries, but anyways here in Brazil , part of sony's merchandising in the program was letting some of the participants take a look at video games in 3d , and the game shown was wipeout fury.Wonder why we didn't have any announcement or something like that :|

Misunderstanding?Everyone knows that Ps3 cannot handle stereoscopic 3D because it is e very old hardware.

3D is still a good 10-15 years away from being in a majority of middle class households. It took DVD almost 10 years to take over. Blu Ray has been out four and is still a minority, technology like this is cool, but at the beginning until it becomes affordable is just a novelty...Nuck81

They promised 4D ... Then hinted towards 3D. Atleast they have 2D down :P

But how would 3D work for KZ2?

KZ2 is 30fps locked & for 3D you need 720p 60fps per eye...

well its a round up number, but so far you wont be able to use/see 3D for less than $3000...in canada

I would only care about 3D gaming/movies/TV if we just dont have to wear glasses

sadly in canada. amazon doesnt have what US amazon has

well its not sonys fault you spent 10000 on a tv , , i guess you must be rich cause that would be waste of money other wise

it's essentially a pointless update to the gaming aspect?

the use in upcoming Blu-Ray movies is there, I understand, meaning the customer do not need a dedicated Blu-Ray player to enable 3d, they can just stick to their PS3 for that.
