Here is what aggravates me. Hereis what we have hadsense E3. Sony coming out with a new model (possible another for cheaper reasons, and two discontinued models this year). What aggravates me is the fact that cows are really excited about it. Why should you be? Here you began with two models one for $600 the other for $500. They discontinue the $500 because they aren't selling any.Now they discontinue the $600 because it is not selling. So now they make a newer model for the same price, but added space, and a game that comes along with it (Does this remind anyone of the Sega Saturns path?) On top of that there are rumors of a newer version for christmas.

So lets look at what cows said about 360.

"It was rushed! Look at the hardware problems, that proves that it is a rushed product"

Indeed 360 has had its issues, but Microsoft admitted to it, and tried to make a newer model to fix those issues with cows bashing ittremendously. So if you cows sat here, and bashed MS. How can you sit here, and be excited about the newer models? Ecspecially when they burned the people who already had the 60gb. You guys are acting like Sony has made a hell of a move. On top of all of that. How can you sit here, and say Sony did not rush their system when they don't know if they want a 60gb, 20gb, 80gb model sitting on shelves, or if it should be $400, $500, $600? Give me a break, and think about what Sony has done.

Is it really a major difference in model if all they are doing is changing the size of the hard drive (which is easy even for the onwer of the system to do)?

An 80 gig model is not going to burn anyone buying the 60 gig right now or that has a 60 gig. It is 20 gigs for pete's sake. Nobody is going to trade-in their 60 gigs to get an 80 gig model.

Microsoft has not tried to fix those issues. They simply cover it all up with a warrenty. Besides, the newer 80gb models won't have any new features that you can't obtain, like 1080p on the elite or a new color. Because PS3 owners can switch out the HDD with any 2.5" Serial ATA HDD.

They are only supporting 1 SKU. Old SKUs are replaced by new ones.

Unlike idiot companies that have 4 SKUs for the same consoles simultaneously.

Sony thinks it should be at $600. But they can't sell it at $600. So they are trying to sell it a $500 and give people who pay $600 more bang for their buck. (which is still dubious without the EE) I think we can all assume that a sku at $500 will exist even after the 60 gigs models sell out.

I dont know I just see a different way thats all. I just don't how you can take away a cheaper model for the customer. Then force them the 60gb model for that price. Then say there is a price cut, and then make it temporary because they are stop the production for that model. Then force $600 on the consumer again. If they make a cheaper model its going to have significiate downgrade, rumour stating that it wont even be backwards compadibility.

There's also a rumor about the 80GB dropping in price by the holidays. PErsonally, I'd rather get that because it comes with the new controller and the whole BC isn't that big of a deal. What do you buy a PS3 just so you can play PS2 and PS1 games? SEriously, after awhile many stop playing the old games. I have a PS2 and DO NOT play any PS1 games on it, so I could care less.

Sony didn't burn us PS3 owners by making it cheaper later. MS burned 360 owners by releasing a messed up product that will continue to malfunction until there are no original systems left and MS will count the replacements as "more 360s sold!!"

You do know that people aren't buying PS3s because of the price? As soon as the 60gb version dropped sales jumped dramatically. People want more for their money, they are willing to buy PS3s, but they want to get more for their $600.

I thought it was already established that systems replaced under warranty were never counted in shipment figures?

The difference between the Elite and anything you're seeing with the PS3's are that the Elite came with things that should have come on the prior SKU's. The Elite was a kiss and make up with those who wanted a 360 and had a HDTV.

The only reason Sony will make any other SKU, soon, is to price drop. Even this new 80GB is solely more HDD space and to establish the $600 price again. Once minds are set at $600, they bring the second SKU at a lowwer price to grab the audience.

What's wrong with having things priced $400, $500, or $600? Options. And you're all tallking about the HDD space difference like that's a big deal. NO HDD AT ALL IS A BIG DEAL. NO HDMI IS A BIG DEAL. thank you.

What are they doing? They arent really adding or taking anything away. Just some more gigs of HDD space and no EE. The 60GB version already had everything the PS3 could have. The 60GB and 80GB version are essentially the same. No features or the like where taken away or added. They're just cutting costs now by taking out the emotion engine. Big deal.

Yes he did...But when Nintendo came out it was after the fall of Atari so the only way a lot of retailers would stock the Nintendo was if it was not a gaming system. So Nintendo called it an Entertainment system and said that it was because it came with a robot is why it was not a gaming system. So the retailers stocked it and there you go a little history.

Thanks about the sigI thought about changing it, been using this sign for a year now. But I just like it to much.

Indeed 360 has had its issues, but Microsoft admitted to it, and tried to make a newer model to fix those issues with cows bashing ittremendously. So if you cows sat here, and bashed MS. Give me a break, and think about what Sony has done.

xscrapzx

Let me clear things up for you.

First off-Sony discontinued the 20 gig due to them losing lots more money on it than the 60 gig. They sold the 60 gig units at rates of 8:1 when compared to the 20gig, but they were being shipped in quantities of 8:1 as well. So they phased out the 20 gig due to it costing them more money.

Secondly, Sony has not burned anyone. How did they burn anyone with the 60 gig?

Thirdly, Every model that Sony has come out with can be modded to do the same as all of the models. All models come standard with HDMI, HDD, and so on. You can buy any SATA HDD and upgrade if the model you bought does not have enough space that you are requiring (160gig HDD runs about $60--versus MS propriotary drive of 120 gig costing $180). The only model to not have Wi-fi is the 20 gig-and you can buy a wi-fi adapter (my cousin has one). The only thing that you can not upgrade are the SD card slots--which really don't matter as all systems have usb ports.

The reason why people hate on the 360 is that there system was rushed. The are having horrendous defect rates. Their new elite model offers HDMI (which is a huge deal for HDTV owners) and the others cannot be upgraded to it. Soas a customer of MS and an HDTV owner--I would be beyond pissed, because now to take full advantage I have to go out and buy a whole new system. Also, it does not come standard with a HDD--which is a big deal as well (note all the devs complaining about this).

The 360 Elite HDMI is useless. It can't even do LPCM 5.1-7.1, Dolby TrueHD or DTS HD-MA, which defeats the purpose of HDMI. :D

Err, not exactly. You can only buy 2.5" SATA HDDs, i.e. laptop HDDs. They're a bit more expensive than standard 3.5" SATA HDDs, still about $0.80 per GB compared to 3.5" HDDs which are down to about $0.20 per GB. A 100GB HDD for the PS3 would probaby run about $80 or so.

The 360 Elite HDMI is useless. It can't even do LPCM 5.1-7.1, Dolby TrueHD or DTS HD-MA, which defeats the purpose of HDMI. :D

Wow, that sucks! Then why did they even make the elite model? What a joke.

Give me a break, and think about what Sony has done.

squallff8_fan

The difference is MS said HDMI wasnt needed, buh buh buh why did they add it in the elite then? LMAO. :P

They even added an inferior version of HDMI, which can't even do LPCM 5.1-7.1, Dolby TrueHD or DTS HD-MA. :D

There's no such thing as an "inferior version of HDMI." The reason the Elite can't do those is because those codecs require specialized hardware, and the Elite would've cost a hell of a lot more than just $479.

As if any of that really matters, anyway.

[QUOTE="HuhJustaBox"]You can buy any SATA HDD and upgrade if the model you bought does not have enough space that you are requiring (160gig HDD runs about $60--versus MS propriotary drive of 120 gig costing $180).mjarantilla

You are partly correct. I was being lazy and meant that you did not have to buy a propriotary drive. However, you can get 120gigs for about $50 and 160gigs for around $70. Shop online at places like tiger direct, newegg, etc. They have some amazing deals.

The reason Sony went from 60gb to 80gb is because putting an 80gb drive in the ps3 was cheaper for mass production. Thank You

True enough. I didn't do any deep digging, I just went on a cursory search through Newegg.

HD Audio = insignificant. Not worthless, but certainly insignificant. Most people can't even tell the difference between CD audio and 256kbps MP3 in passive listening. To those who can, kudos, but you're in the extreme, extreme minority. Like, 0.1% minority

So, as I said:

Here is what aggrevates me:

Lemmings have been bashing the PS2's DRE error for the last 7 years! Right before the 360 warranty issue came out, lemmings were STILL making posts about Sony being sued.

One would think the lemmings would be able to take for a few weeks what they have dished out for 7 years...but then again, this post proves otherwise. BUt this appears to be just one more bit of evidence that lemmings are easily the biggest hypocrits of all the fanboys. Constantly they want to attack others but then they can't handle it when it comes back to bite them in the behind.

Do not even bother. Cows are so very hypocritical. There are a couple on these forums that are not but only a couple. Fact is they made fun of the 360 for having the Elite as the biggest milkage but they will call the 80GB the best thing ever even though it has less backwards compatibility and only 20gb more memory.

I do, but since regular DTS at 768 kbits/sec is already regarded as pretty much transparent compared to an uncompressed source, there isn't much use for anything higher.

Wow.

Ironic that you call cows "so very hypocritical" but then can't figure out why they called the Elite "millkage". Any ideas how the term milkage even came about or who started the term?

And it is hard to take anything you say seriously when you can't tell the difference between releasing a more expensive console with added features that were supposedly "not necessary", and upgarding an SKU with a bigger HDD for the same price as what the previous SKU used to sell for.

And speaking of further hypocrisy...funny how lemmings are now suddenly against emulator software for backwards compatibility. They were all for BC when they thought the XBox 360 had it. They were even still defending it when they found out it would only be done through software downloads.

That wasn't completely irrelevant to the conversation at hand.

Eltroz

You are very confused.

See like I said cows are hypocritical thanks for proving it.

I originally started typing a rebuttal of every single inane comment he made, and pointing out every single thing he gets wrong. BUt it started to get way too long so I focused on the bigger picture...his hypocrisy and ignorance and bias.
