Orinda Intellectual Properties Don't worry, this is just another greedy patent troll. A "company" that bulk buys otherwise useless patents from other companies in the hopes of suing a big fish like Sony. "an optical disk-shaped recording medium comprising a plurality of tracks " I can see two immediate reasons why this "lawsuit" would be dismissed: 1)The patent itself is entirely vague and could be applied to any recordable optical media (the patents itself could be invalidated for this reason). 2)The PS3 has absolutely nothing to do with recordable media other than the passive ability to read the media. Remember kids, in America anyone can sue anything for any reason at any time.

Sony will pay them off if they lose. The PS3 will continue to be manufactured. Nothing to worry about.
Again, Sony can easily dodge this by giving the fault to the BD association. Im amazed that this companies target Sony and not the actual association that created the devices.

I dont understand how people can honestly care about the hobby of gaming when they want to see companies get dropped out of it. That's like loving sports but hoping the NBA drops out. Or loving baseball but hoping opposing teams get dropped. It's ridiculous.
Nintendo, Sony and MS are all bringing us video games. What is not to love about it? Do you love a company or video games???
Well they aren't the first company to try and sue Sony for blu-ray and fail. Besides a patent on optical disc shaped mediums how general is that, they could probably sue all of hollywood with something loose like that.
The company doesn't really want PS3 manufacturing to stop. It's a ploy. If Sony ignores them, goes to trial, and loses, they can try to press for larger damages. On the other hand, if Sony settles, they can make money off of each unit shipped forever.
All these crappy no name companies sueing console companies is making me sick. God. They all need to be shot. Their just desparate and greedy. It's pathetic. Why can they just freely sue a company such as sony like this. It's like so easy. They will lose like all the others though. Patents suck. Why do we need them. I don't get it...
