I'd rather focus on KZ3 too, Homefront doesn't really impress me
This topic is locked from further discussion.
This can olnly be bad with thq, sony has a lot more recogniced shooters that will allow dlc for them.
Good. I don't want Sony to turn into Microsoft, paying millions of dollars to get a map pack two weeks earlier. The fact that Sony buys games, not DLC is why they succeed.

"Sony really didn't come to us and say, 'We want to support you and get behind you.'"
Well, I guess PS3 owners will have to suffer with their Full Game released Retail games, and the 360 owners will get to enjoy Homefront DLC early. Wow, impressive.
as Nick Edge said in the comments... "You know, here's how I'll define "not intereseted. Homefront rep guy (HRG): Hey, Sony guy, were going to release DLC for homefront. Sony guy: yeah, sure whatever go ahead. HRG: Yeah, and were going to release it on the 360 first...unless you can "persuade" us otherwise. SG: Yeah, okay, fine, that's great. HRG: No but, don't you want to- SG: *click* *dial toooooooone*" Anyone here actually think Homefront will do that great? Why should Sony focus on that?paradigm68
I was going to post that, but it's true. What do gamers want, more retail exclusive games, or Sony to go after making deals for timed exclusive DLC?
I think what we should want is quite obvious, and I think 3rd Parties double dipping into the console manufacturers for more money needs to slow down.
I don't really get why some Homefront developer's public musings about why Sony didn't moneyhat them for DLC is news...

agreed, only timed exclusive I've bought is the Episodes of Liberty City DLC. But hey it makes the Xbox fanboys proud to have those CoD maps a couple months (or however long that stuff was) before anyone else.[QUOTE="SolidTy"][QUOTE="paradigm68"]as Nick Edge said in the comments... Notice how there aren't any lemmings in this thread?
It's because they got seriously owned. They cannot retaliate.
Tell me- what's the Xbox 360's next exclusive game? Isn't it Gun Loco? Yeah, sorry. Sony's exclusive software lineup is much, much better.
Is is just me, or is the entire concept of DLC becoming one big joke?
DraugenCP
Not just a DLC, but a timed exclusive one :P

Great, but I play games on my systems, not SW. How am I owned? I can't wait for KZ3. If we're going to talk exclusive line ups, the PC destroys all.homefronts dev sounds a bit of an idiot to be fair
"In the remainder of the interview Dickson said Kaos was gunning for a "subtle approach to the oppression," of the occupied United States, then goes on to say we might be watching parents get killed in front of their kids.
"When we first introduced that idea, a lot of the developers weren't comfortable with it - they have families when they go home, they have kids - and were just like, 'Why are we putting this in the game? I don't like this,'" Dickson said. "But we're going for something where we're trying to make the player feel an emotion here."
why introduce the idea at all???

Seems like a lame publicity stunt disguised as flawed moralism.
Now that we're on the subject, when they want to take the 'war is a terrible thing' approach, they should do it right or not at all. This endless good vs. evil crap in nearly every war game isn't going to provoke any sort of reaction or emotion in most gamers because we've seen it a thousand times already in one form or another. What'd actually be the progressive thing to do in a war game is to show that atrocities are committed on both sides. Always. I'm not talking about implementing mindless sensationalism like the MW2 airport level, but more about letting us witness the development from good-hearted human being to wrath-obsessed fighter. This could even be implemented in a subtle manner by having the player switch sides every few missions, and see what the opposing side has done from either perspective.
/Rant. Not that this will ever happen, though. Unquestionably evil terrorist Russians/Koreans/aliens just seem to appeal much more to the crowd.

That's not the argument. The argument is that not everyone owns a PS3, and they cannot take advantage of its exclsive lineup unless they own it.
In other words.... "Sony failed to provide us with a nice batch of money while Microsoft providing us with some nice bags of $$$$.ShadowDeathX
Yeah totally. Microsoft decided to pay millions of dollars to get maps for a game that no one would buy.
But when Sony gets exclusive content, it's because they're gods and developers did it out of the kindness of their hearts.
homefront looks terrible...plus do you remember their last game? frontlines? *uhghhhhh, vomited in mouth a little*
so yeah, this is good with me.
[QUOTE="Ratchet_Fan8"]This is a Serious question! What is Homefront? -Snooze-
Some generic FPS, a king to Frontlines: Fuels Of War, but about North Korea invading America(Yeah right) or something.
I want a game based in France, with Zimbabwe invading.
 Its from THQ aswell, its gonna BOMMBB!! and im gonna laugh :lol:I think Homefront looks like an amazing shooter to be honest, but this really won't hurt Sony at all. Homefrontdoesn't have the recognition of a game like CoD, and I don't even think CoD's timed exclusive DLC dealwith Microsoft affected the its sales on Sony's system too much, tbh. Why then, would a game like Homefront make a difference?

I honestly like that concept more.
French resistance round 2.:P

Don't want then, Frontlines was horrible.

Cause by your approach, theres no hero's. This approach in thought process has allowed countries to be steamed rolled by other countries. Great now not only are we teaching kids in school that we are all bad and no people have a moral high ground over the other, but now lets play this situation out in games. Sorry, but there is good and evil. While no man walks without his own issues, but no matter how bad a good man gets, he will always be better than a evil man and his intentions.I think Homefront has the potential to be really good, but I can see the devs going just for shock value. The SP needs to approach emotion subtly. If they just go through executing Americans civilians in a loud and gorey manner, I'll be disappointed. If they do something with brainwashing civilians and show the Korean side of the story I think it could be great. Please please please let there be a mission where we go undercover as Koreans. Please please please.

"This approach in thought process has allowed countries to be steam-rolled by other countries". Okay, so where does the saying "the road to hell is paved on good intentions" come from? I'm convinced that this world would be a lot less crappy if everyone wasn't so convinced of their own right. Relativism, at least to a certain extent, helps. Regardless of that, I don't see how anyone with a brain could deny that the good vs. evil approach, at least to the extent video games are taking it, is an inherently flawed concept. Everyone has their own motivations in a conflict, and even though some come out of a war dirtier than others, nobody is completely clean. If those developers really wanted to 'provoke emotions' as they claim and show what a war actually does to people, they would have to reflect that instead of reminding us again why we should fight the evil clichéd foreign villains we have been shooting in virtually every modern war-themed game in existance.
