That Playstation All-star is just awful. The mechanics are... well... dated and boring, and it clearly has an unbalance issue.

Anyone actually thinks this game has a chance ?

No it looks like unoriginal sh*t. But then again I wasn't much of a fan of SSB either. That Playstation All-star is just awful. The mechanics are... well... dated and boring, and it clearly has an unbalance issue.

Given a lot of people in the media that have played it have written how fun it is (even many who thought it;d be bad going into it). I'd say it has a good chance.

It looks really plain to be honest.... there were some power up items but the fights themselves seem unskilled and truly unbalanced. Dying with but 1 skill is really lame.. that's why a lot of people didn't like SSB brawl because of the ultimates.. some characters ult just 1 hit killed you instead of just helping.
If they launch it at $40 it will do pretty well, but right now it does not look like a good $60 blockbuster.

I'd say try before you knock it. It doesn't seem the type of game or genre even where you can tell if you'd like it by watching it.No it looks like unoriginal sh*t. But then again I wasn't much of a fan of SSB either. yes cause by LAW, games need to always be ORIGINAL and UNIQUE to be considered good at all. Love the logic![QUOTE="Joedgabe"]

If it's FUN and it works, that's all that matters. According to previews this seems to be the case.

except it doesn't work...besides the fact that the gameplay itself looks bland, they are still stuck using that grey color palette this gen seems to love in the West and instead of making everybody stand out from the background, they all seem to blend in.I used to think the idea behind this game might've worked out, but then I noticed something that essentially makes the gameplay broken.
At first I thought you fought your opponents to build your meter. Level one supers are the weakest, but if you manage to hold off until you acquire a level 3 super, it can be quite devastating. This much is true, but I also thought that if you died you lost any meter you gained. this would result in a risk and reward type of gameplay and it sounded interesting to me. Either you risk holding off on your super to gain more meter for a bigger payoff but risk losing it all if someone picks you off with their own super, or you use what you have and claim points the safe way.
The E3 demo showed that even if you die your meter remains... That makes no sense. Is there any risk in holding on to your super at all then? They better fix this
the game is not fully developed yet. Look at crysis 3 gameplay at e3 he has full energy bar even while using cloak and runningI used to think the idea behind this game might've worked out, but then I noticed something that essentially makes the gameplay broken.

[QUOTE="_Cadbury_"]I love how All-Stars is apparently a SSB clone but also destined to fail. From what I've read, people who have actually played the game, have enjoyed it. No one expects it to be a 10/10 title. It's just another game to enjoy.JohnnyCageMKBecause Nintendo has enough well known mascots to make it work. Their characters don't seem out of place. Sony has random crap like Sly Cooper vs Fat Princess vs Big Daddy vs Nathan Drake. Thats just dumb.
I don't think well known characters matter much. While they might help what makes SSB great is it's unique combat that actually works. Damage by % the higher it is the further the toss... and if you're out a bit further than the screen you're dead..... all that with good fighting mechanics.
Genious.
Most of the idiots slamming the game better,do some history research on fighting games and mash ups.
Like I said before, if Sony wanted to copy a game mechanic that was good and not completely be seen like they were ripping off Nintendo, they should have ripped off Power Stone.

Nintendo has the most iconic game characters but seriously who gives a damn about characters like PaRappa the Rapper. Mael Radec and Fat Princess? who gave a damn about ice climbers, Daisy, Roy, Captain falcon, Marth, mr game-a-watch?
Daisy was not in any of the Smash Bros games(Daisy is an alt costume color for Peach.) and the Japanese fans apparently give enough of a damn about Marth to vote him into Melee's roster.
As for Roy, there are several people who were upset that he did not return in Brawl and as for Captain Falcon, I think more people know him from Smash Brothers then from F-Zero. Regardless, CF is a very popular character in the Smash Series.
About the only two I would agree with you on is Mr. Game and Watch and the Ice Climbers. They are somewhat popular, but those two are retro characters who were pulled out of games and handhelds that many modern fans have never played.

I think you would actually have to play the game to say it doesnt work, not just going by the colors in the game
It will flop in sales like most PS3 exclusives.JohnnyCageMK
Gran turismo > halo reach
Uncharted series > gears series
all sales wise
I game mostly on PS3. This game looks fkn awful. You are right. That Playstation All-star is just awful. The mechanics are... well... dated and boring, and it clearly has an unbalance issue.

Gotta agree with that. Power Stone is a far better non-traditional fighting game than Smash Bros. can ever hope to be. But i bet people would still call it a Smash rip-off.
I think I'd rather play it on my Vita than the PS3. But yes it still looks like a pure ripoff of SSB except stupider since you'll have a Helghast soldier jumping up and down like Mario. Seems like the only people who are defending this game are the cows.

Well, it certainly won't put up anywhere near SSBB numbers (+10 million). Game looks like s**t, to be honest.

Clearly one did not grow up in the 90's since your dismissing Parappa.
it clearly has balance issues? The game isn't even out yet? Also Blizzard balanced starcraft for almost 10 years. :roll:That Playstation All-star is just awful. The mechanics are... well... dated and boring, and it clearly has an unbalance issue.
