Here's the LINK to its source;)

The fine folks at Sony have a nice promotion going on that could make buying a PS3 a little bit easier on the old pocketbook... Sign up for (and use) your new Sony credit card and you'll get a $100 credit applied to your card after your purchase. Of course, this credit can be applied to any gear you might want, but the PS3 is clearly begging for this. It makes the PS3 "Elite" a steal at $499 bucks! Take that Xbox 360 Elite. You'll also get:  0% Introductory APR and No Annual Fee  Full Platinum Visa benefits 5 Sony Rewards Points per $1 spent at Sonycom, Sony stores, and ImageStation.com * Exclusive members-only deals on Sony products Yawn. Just make sure to pay your newly minted debt off quickly or your PS3 might cost you way more than you bargained for.

No thx.  I already have one credit card i don't need another.  I bet not many people get that either.  The ps3 is still 599 for the top model.

Credit cards were developed in Hell and sent by the Devil himself to destroy your finances. If you can't afford the PS3 just charge it on your new Sony card. That's a good idea Satan!

Credit Cards are wonderful if you know how to take advantage of them. Don't buy anything you cannot pay off in 3-4 months. My credit companies must hate me because I never give them time to add any interest. Thats how you use em.

This is a great deal, I could get the 20GB model for 400, and pay it off in two months. No fuss.

I don't like to walk around with cash. I generally buy anything I can with credit. I also don't like activating new credit cards for immediate bonuses such as this one Sony is offering. (Mainly because I did do that a few times, and it's bad to have too many active accounts..)

You open the account. Get the discount. Pay it off right away and close the card.

Sure it'll hurt your credit score ever so slightly, but it'll be back up soon after.

True. I think as long as you close it quickly, there's not too much issue. But, still, it's just a hundred bucks. Whatever.

Well thats a pretty good discount haha. If the PS3 had a 400 model, most people wouldn't be complaining about the price thats for sure.

Credit Scores are so sensitive. You open a card, it goes down. You close a card, it goes down. You consistently pay it off and have a low to zero balance, barely any movement at all. Its so weird.

Same here. Credit Card debt is the worst kind of debt.

Here's the fine print of the offer: It takes 2-3 MONTHS to get the credit. No thanks.

Offer subject to credit approval. Card credit will be applied to your Sony Card account 8-12 weeks after your first purchase. Offer expires May 31, 2007. First purchase must be made by August 31,2007. In some instances an application may require additional processing, in which case Instant Credit will be unavailable. When you are approved for the Sony Card, you will receive your account and CVV2 number on-screen. Please make sure to make note of your account and CVV2 number as this information will not be available until you receive your card in the mail. If you are approved, you will be able to make a one-time purchase at Sony****com only, with up to a maximum line of credit of $5,000. Additional purchases with this account cannot be made until your card is received in the mail.

I hope you know that many places do this in order for you to get a credit card. You can go to best buy and get all kind of deals if you buy the stuff with a best buy credit card. This is a credit card thing nothing more. If you don;t mind having an extra one and have good discipline, go for it.

Nope, it doesn't say that you have to buy anything at the Sony store. This credit is available on the first purchase a person makes. So if I wanted to, I can buy a 360 for $100 less.

Same here. The problem is that people carry balances over from month to month. That's just not a smart thing to do. I'm glad to say I've paid off all my cards in full every month and I don't spend more than I can actually afford. As a result, I have an excellent credit score as well.

I love credit cards that have cash back. put everything i can on my cc. but i'm also someone that tracks all my accounts and finances at least twice a week. I always pay off my credit cards the same month so i don't get any interest. only debts i have are grad school, car and mortgage but they are all fixed rate 3-5.25%. so i'm not worried. that said we know that the average american has 8,000 in cc debt so we aren't the norm.

The way the economy is headed, i'm not interested in having too much debt, the coming boomer retirement, and the unwillingness of both the parties to address the massive and increasing debt is very worrisome, its almost garunteed that our generation is going to need their own savings.

this changes nothing, if the ps3 really had a good lineup bynow ppl would pay the 100 extra dollars for it, i know i would, but it dosent, and by each exclusive they loose its one less motive to buy a ps3 dosent matter the price tag on it. if they manage to keep ff13 and mgs then sony might be able to get back on their feet, if they dont....
