obviously a PR stunt, but it's good that Sony seems to attempt to boost its public image with these little sort of things more than say for example Microsoft (or at least I hear about sony ones more)

obviously a PR stunt, but it's good that Sony seems to attempt to boost its public image with these little sort of things more than say for example Microsoft (or at least I hear about sony ones more)

If it were a PR stunt, more web sites would cover it. Regardles if it is though it was an awesome thing for Sony to do and I'm glad for the kid Sad that the kid got mugged by a pathetic excuse of a human. But Sony did a good thing, and the thought behind it and getting his system back will surely brighten up the kids day It's little things like this + the fact that Sony is really the only one of the big three that is catering to the core gamer + that they listen to its fans is the reason why Sony is the bomb! Lol in my eyes

Reaching out to people while getting a little PR is a win for everybody. Hopefully the kid is aware of this and contacts them since they apparently don't know who he is.

Yes, the best thing for them to do would be nothing right? Pretty sure the kid doesn't give a damn if they're being "phony" - very nice of Sony, that video was really upsetting.

Uh no. The point of a big PR stunt is to get as many out let's to cover it and report not just one small gaming website Regardless, Sony did a good deed Now, M$ on the other hand I wouldn't be surprised if they had set cameras right there and televised it and braged about it all the way "look at what we did"

Whether or not it was done for PR we'll never know, but I must say it's really sad that the same people that watch that video with anger and disgust pretend that there is no such thing as sympathy and compassion in this world. Sony may be a big corporation with a massive bank account, but that doesn't mean every one that works for them is a heartless bastard. A decision like this doesn't have to come from the top of Sony. Any regional or local manager working for one of yheir many departments could have decided to give the kid a new PSP and as far as the media is concerned it was done by Sony. Hell, David Jaffe, as a Sony employee, could have made the decision and it is still done by Sony. It's just sad that nobody here can think it's possible that someone who works for Sony could have seen that same video with the same feeling of anger as most of us felt and genuinely felt bad enough for the kid to want to do something nice.

Wow a"source" coming from m$.com. Lol thank you. And not to start a fanboy war but I can definitely go into greater detail Reports of M$ strong arming developers and dropping shady deals. Under going shady practices and or against the competition. Monopolizing I mean it is some what speculation but the FACT is that Microsoft was found to be in vioation of usa anti trust laws and was peanilized.
