Just to clarify, the answer was in response to "PSP2 and/or PSP Phone"... I would consider those very different things ... I can certainly see the PSP Phone being discussed at E3 without a PSP2 announcement, since WSJ all but verified its existence months ago.

HOWEVER there is an established price range that consumers of videogames consider "normal" and Sony, with both the PSP and PS3, were far above that norm.
The next generation of PSPs will use digital downloads exclusively, I would bet my PSP-2000 on it. Not because of the success or failure of the Go, but because Sony blames the PSP's downturn heavily on piracy - and a closed, all-digital download system will seem like an enticing solution. Many of the complaints they've heard against the Go (-the 3000 allows you to use both digital downloads and UMDs, and is cheaper!-) will be rendered obsolete if the next-gen system never gives people the option of UMDs in the first place...
As I stated in another thread, if the PSP2 is download only then I can tell you right now that I won't be buying it.

PSP will be six years old this christmas so I think its time for a new one. This is what I would like:
- Dual analogs - Clamshell or slide design - Better battery life - Possibly a touch screen - Bluetooth and Mic - Built in memory, 16GB minimum - Solid state media (NO UMD's) - Strong launch titles - Improved web capabilities to rival the iPhone etc. - No more than £220
I also DO NOT want the PSP2 to be a phone/console hybrid, phones are trying to imitate consoles, not the other way around.

And the PSP Go is $250, WOW thats way overpriced, its the same thing as a regular PSP but with less and nothing new.
Assuming that it won't use UMDs, nor will it be a download-only platform, I wonder what Sony's going to use for the actual games.

I don't think Sony will be repeating the same big mistake for a second time... DD only is what brought Go to the ground (and it's price of course)
I think their best bet would be memory cards (you can get a 1 GB memory card for 5-10$ and sony makes their own cards (Micro M2) witch probably means they cost them less then CDs).
The iPhone is DD only and the games on that sell great. Personally, I'd like to see a combination of physical media and DD. Instead of UMDs they could probably use flash cards like the DS, or you have the option of downloading the games directly. Piracy was a huge problem with the PSP so I can see Sony requiring people activate physical games online.

why? People who bought the go were wanting a small digital only device. Guess what thats what they got. They knew what they were getting. Even if psp2 is announced it won't be out this year. It takes time to make launch games, and they don't have nearly enough resources to make games for PS3, PSP , PS2, MOVE, 3D support and a PSP2...come on now. Thats just way to much, there isn't enough devs to do that.
Secondly the PSPGo was never made as a replacement for the PSP 1000-3000 line. Its a alternative, so people saying "failure" can shove it. the system was made of overstocked interent reader cases that sony had, they just put the thing together and sold it. They didn't loose anything off it especially at that price. Some people , and this may shock you, really like digital downloads. I know I do, I buy all the time off the PSN store, for my PSP3000.
I guarantee you that psp2 will not be announced this year. Sony said that the psp has a lot of games coming out this year. They just introduced code to stop piracy for at least 60days (don't know what it does). And they were quoted saying they have enough software to get through the year on psp. they would not release move and psp2 in the same year. Its too much. If anything it will be a psp4000 or another redesign, Not a full on successor. It just isn't going to happen this year. As much as you people want to believe it , it won't. And it will only have 1 analog nub....because again it won't be a PSP2, just a new redesign for the existing psp. They don't want to fragment the market.
I will bet money that PSP2 will not be announced this year. (but a new psp1 version may be announce).

All sarcasm aside.. how did you get a big boss bundle. They aren't out for another week yet. OR is this one of those stupid Europe things, like Alpha Protocol where you get the game/hardware weeks in advance to us USA people.
