I wonder if the pricing will stay the same or will there be a price increase

Tiers? Shit, thanks Nintendo.
Sony had such a good thing going with PS1 and PS2 digital BC on PS3, they should build off that instead.
Hmm, seems less a direct Game Pass competitor than a toe-dipping supplementary service, at least for now. The key difference is they're not planning to have day-one launches for blockbusters, which would be crucial to pursuing the same scaling and content breadth Game Pass is going for.
All in all, willing but cautious from Sony, as I expected.
Well we shall see. Game Pass is an amazing service. Sony’s going to have a very difficult time matching it.
Oh well, their goes Sony's quality stamp. Eventually they will do the same as MS and release day one, equalling more quality instead. Probably throw in some micro transactions to make up the potential losses, consoles have turned to complete shit.
Xbox continues to revolutionize the way we play games.😎
Does it? I was told Game Pass was a failure and was bad for devs and gamers. Why is Sony looking to compete? They must enjoy failure too.
Thats funny when it was sony who started the model first and MS copy them.
PSN+ predates games pass by allot.
@madrocketeer: lol "new blockbusters"..
In response to your reply in the duplicate thread: Forza Horizon 5, Halo and Age of Empires 4 numbers speak for themselves.

Gamepass is a copy of PSN+ and PS Now.
I though you people had admit this already i was wrong.
Apples to Oranges I'm afraid. Sorry but you can't compare the two at all. Game Pass is really Netflix of games and PS+ is to Xbox Gold.

Yea, it's funny how Lems have a problem admitting that these days lol. Sony gave us PS+ and PSNow first. And if you're a fan of subscription services, there is really no reason for you to hate on PSNow. More games and more affordable.

Gamepass is a copy of Sony services, but Sony is looking to copy Gamepass. Nice logic.
@SolidGame_basic: There’s a reason less than 2% of PS gamers subscribe to psnow….it’s bloody awful. Not only the selection of games, but the fact that anything past last gen is streaming only and it doesn’t include a single ps5 game.
Saying that Gamepass copied psnow is bizarre when Sony themselves have spoke about a future gp equivalent on ps.
PlayStation games coming to PC and PlayStation planning a new subscription service to compete with Game Pass..
looking forward to seeing if Sony fanboys will actually embrace these changes after spending the last few years bashing Xbox for taking these initiatives..
going to be an interesting 2022 all around..
Does anyone see Sony honestly releasing their top tier games as day one releases for this service? It'd be awesome if they did, but I just don't see them doing so.

So streaming for games is something that Xbox made up? lol. They even had PS Now on TVs which Xbox is now calling "the cloud" lol.

it just depends on how seriously they want people to take their service..
nearly every entertainment service is anchored by day-one content.. whether that's Stranger Things for Netflix, King Kong vs Godzilla for HBO Max, or Forza Horizon 5 for Game Pass..
subscribers tend to want to know what they're getting for their money.. "all 1st party Xbox games launching into Game Pass day-one" is an easy selling point.. "a vague library of PlayStation titles" didn't seem to help PS Now previously so not sure why anything would be different with this new service unless Sony is planning to make bold changes..
day-one PlayStation Studios titles would be that type of bold change and would bring plenty of people to the service, myself included..
Well we shall see. Game Pass is an amazing service. Sony’s going to have a very difficult time matching it.
If you talking content, I disagree. To me, Sony have the better library.
Now if you’re talking functionality, possibly.
No day 1 games though. That’s a big difference. That one difference between the two services is a real big deal. I’m curious to see who breaks…
The key difference is they're not planning to have day-one launches for blockbusters,
It doesn't say that though. Jason is just guessing that could be the case. Seems like Sony's plan is to get all their games on Microsoft Windows PC and have a Game Pass competitor. Great news for gamers.
@PSP107: sadly the future seems uncertain about how long that's viable, it would be great if they ever though to have the digital PS1/PS2 entitlements carry over between platforms, I'd have the confidence to have kept building my digital library

Yup. It's working VERY VERY well for Xbox. No reason Sony wouldn't. Most games are still SOLD to consumers, not subscribed.
So I am now beginning to think I kind of sort of remember a while back they mulled over separating older titles from PS Now so they could use their revenues to bring more contemporary titles to their service. I'm beginning to think that's really what this is about.
Funny though how this is reported like a new BC tier is a counter-punch to Game Pass, whereas I would imagine if they indeed are doing this to increase library of contemporary titles then the BC-tier move is really just cutting dead weight. Even more so considering PS Now already offers this stuff.
@SolidGame_basic: What? No! How are you this confused? Gamepass isn’t streaming. Xcloud is. People comparing psnow to gamepass are getting it wrong. Streaming is not fully viable right now, much less 2014 when psnow launched. Psnow is a separate subscription service while xcloud cannot be subscribed to…it’s a perk to Gamepass Ultimate.
Gamepass is tiered. Gamepass, Gamepass for PC and GP Ultimate which includes both plus xcloud, eaplay, games with gold and more. This is what Sony are countering…a basic subscription service which includes BC only games, and a higher tier which includes ps5 games.
@sealionact: i think there will eventually be another Game Pass tier for just xCloud (maybe $4.99 or something) but i'd imagine that's still a loooong ways off from launching..
but i agree, these Game Pass comparisons to PS Now are silly.. Game Pass has day-and-date releases across the board for 1st party titles (including some day-and-date 3rd party games) while PS Now doesn't even have a single PS5 game available in the service over a full year after the console has launched..
it's a night and day difference..
I actually think good can come of this if Sony really tries to play it up. MS just said they were throwing in towel with BC and now this might twist their nipples to make them go back.
It doesn't say that though. Jason is just guessing that could be the case. Seems like Sony's plan is to get all their games on Microsoft Windows PC and have a Game Pass competitor. Great news for gamers.
Well, considering it's Jason Schreier, I would wager it's a very well-informed guess.
It also matches well with Sony's track record. They tend to be very cautious about moving beyond their comfort zone. Not having day one blockbusters until they get settled in seems a typically Sony thing to do.
Xbox continues to revolutionize the way we play games.😎
thought ps now came out first. even though gamepass when it came out was better.
Gamepass is not copy of PSNow because PSNow started off as EXCLUSIVELY a streaming while Gamepass was and still is primarily a game subscription service that allows the users to natively download ALL and play games. That is the difference. You and the rest of your goons @tormentos, @SolidGame_basic can perform mental gymnastic to damage control the fact that Gamepass has changed the way people play games and Sony is trying to emulate the success. 😎
The other interesting fact is that your Sony fannies are sub to Gamepass and not PSNow. 😂
Seriously, is anybody who has a ps interested in this? Isn’t this just charging for BC games while not including any day 1 games…plus psp games on ps5…I mean, why?
