So we got Sony made a survey unvaling some premium service plans (means they don't need to be there):

http://destructoid.com/elephant/photo-m.phtml?post_key=158197&photo_key=125501

Lets make SW edition of servey, so quastion is:

Sony is considering offering a premium PlayStation Network subscription in the future. The subscription offering would provide new premium features you could choose to pay for and are in addition to the features currently available for free such as access to online multiplayer gaming (current features would remain free).

Can't say I'd choose either option, but then again I don't pay for Live and it has many of those features equally worthless and Live has the only acces to online if you pay. They are both a waste of cash but at least PS3 online games stay free.

Option 2 seems like the best, but 70 bucks seems a little steep lol

Eh, I can hardly follow the chart let alone pick how much money I would want to spend on stuff that is irrelevant to me. I gues 2?

Option 2 looks the best, but I'm not a fan of the price. But then again, playing online would still be free. :P

If I were to pick I'd go with with option 1, although the free PSOne Classics is drawing me to Option 2. I went with Option 1 though

I'd go option 2.

But it probably wouldn't be available in Australia/Europe/NZ for about 2-3 years after its ***/NA release, so I'm not really concerned at the moment.

I know what we have now is free, and it 's good. I also know what we have now will continue to be free, which is awesome.

As far as these premium deals, I don't know. It's a shame the industry has forced Sony to move this way, instead of making Xbox LIVE pure profit situation Cheaper or Free for consumers, but what can you do? The consumers have voted with their dollars, and the vote was, yes please.

I've spent well over $400+ on Live over the years, closer to $700-800 when you factor my other, second 360, and when I think of the future in how much this hobby is costing me...I have to shudder.

As far as Destructoid goes, they aren't very neutral, and their website is designed to get hits with outrageous opinions.

Finally, all these premium service's are $70? Exqueese me? Only one $30 option? Where is the All in one inclusive Uber deal, these all have variables I would want. I don't think Sony would offer in pieces like that, or try to confuse the consumer so much online options. I'll just wait and see.

I have questions about half that stuff they would be trying to sell me as it is. I like a few things from some of them, other options are just flat out stupid. I can't vote in the poll, since I wouldn't choose any of these.

None of the above.

I've been trying to come up with a good solution that's best forthem and us , but I can't really come up with anything because I don't know the details behind a lot of those things. But my general advice to them -

  1. a $25 per yearsub - playstation/sony related perks - Qore/Betas/freebies , loyalty reward program , trials , cloud storage , etc.
  2. a $25 per year sub - includes all of the multimedia and socialthird partyapps -catch up tv, internet radio , music vids , facebook , etc.
  3. cross game chat should be free for everyone !
  4. scrap the rental/access deals for a little while.

That way freeloaders can be happy (me) , more serious playstation fans can be relatively happywith ps perks (some guy with trey4life as his name), and people that want to use their ps3's for other things can also be somewhat satisfied. Give people a little more flexibility and choice. That's a lot better than going $70 for a lot of things people might not ever care to use or try. They simply won't bother with it.

Option 2 looks the best. I have no problem with the price for that amount of content either.

No. They're THINKING about charging more for PSN than XBL. Key word is THINKING.

I would like to have 1 with ALL the features... but anyway...Im having a hard pick between option 2 and 3...option 2 doesnt give me exclusive sony brands experiences or custumer priority...but option 3 doesnt give me discounts or allows me to play PS1 games! option 3 is also lot cheaper...I think that my dad will only pay for the third option :S

Now, now. I'm sure it's just a phase you are going through. Trust me, there are way better gaming options then just Sony. It'll help broaden your perspective of gaming...

PSN is fine for being free, but i would never pay for it, even if those things were included.

I just find PSN unwelcoming after playing about with LIVE.

PSN should be far more intergrated, and not just a little icon at the end.

Option 2 though :)

Yeah, that's why it won't make Sony a lot of money. If you don't have a hook, you won't reel them in. Call it unfair, greedy, whatever. Live nailed it.

Option 2 seemed to be the best but not a fan of the price. If they made the price $50 I'd be fine with it though.

None. I don't see anything that I do enough of on those lists to justify $70.00 per year, and that isn't much money.

While I don't condone the price of XBox Live, it's a little naive to think that all the content provided by these services (Live, PSN, Steam) are actually free for the providers. The more and more these companies want to put up (from downloadable content, videos, trials, events, crossgame chat), the more it costs them to provide and support. It was only a matter of time before Sony needed to find a way to get something back. For example, does everybody know that YouTube is a losing enterprise? They're hemorraging money, but Google continues to foot the bill until they find a way to make the add support viable. But most people just see it as "free videos". Heck, even all those "free" public TF2 servers on Steam that people play are costing someone (or some clan) money. If Sony continues to provide free online gaming, that will be a win for the PS3 owners in of itself. But this gravy train of everything else being free always had a limit.
