Both have their strengths and weaknesses, but it really just depends on personal preference. What kind of games you like, whether you're interested in Blu-Ray, how much money you want to spend, etc.
If the PS3 seems too expensive for you, you might want to wait until the 19th, which is when Sony is rumored to announce a price drop/cheaper model.
Stevo is right that the 360 has more critically-acclaimed games, but it's still all about what your tastes are.
PS3 better games, better controller, better graphics, better and more reliable hardware (no RROD!!!), Free online.
[QUOTE="delta3074"][QUOTE="double_heist"] Uh... the JRPGs aren't that highly regarded in the Xbox 360 :|. I'd say they're more spectular in the DS and PSP. The only spectacular ones are Lost Odyssey (I guess) and Tales of Vesperia (which is coming to the PS3 anyway).double_heistread the topic title dude, it's between 360 and ps3, between the ps3 and the 360 the 360 has the highest rated JRPG's, and a score of 8 or above is considered 'good' round here, which equals 'highly regarded' PS3 then. Valkyria Chronicles and Disgaea 3 ftw. :P Like I said the PS3 has the highest rated SRPG which both of those are.So for the people that need to have that very niche game style then there you go. Meanwhile the 360 does better in jrpg and wrpg.

But making the JRPG into ARPG, SRPG, and Turn-Based RPG is getting stupid in my opinion.[QUOTE="double_heist"][QUOTE="delta3074"]read the topic title dude, it's between 360 and ps3, between the ps3 and the 360 the 360 has the highest rated JRPG's, and a score of 8 or above is considered 'good' round here, which equals 'highly regarded'rybe1025

What about the rpgs made in Korea for example are they then WRPG?No almost all Korean rpgs are jrpgs
What if the next FF was made in Canada would it be a WRPG now? No it is still a jrpg just made in Canada
I could give other examples but you get the point.

That's irrelevant. Final Fantasy XIII and Disgaea 3 can both be broadly classified as RPGs (or even JRPGs, according to you), and yet they are very different.
JRPG - Japanese RPGs meaning RPGs made in JapanWRPG - Western RPGs meaning RPGs made in the West (US/EU)double_heist
Not when they're used as RPG subgenres, in which case JRPGs are RPGs in the Japanese style, and WRPGs are RPGS in the western style.
Just stick with RPGs.double_heist
Yes, let's simplify genres until they have only arbitrary definitions.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go play an action game; maybe Gears of War or Devil May Cry.

it's better that way. They're action games anyway.and subcategorizing too much is getting annoying. no wonder there's racism and hatred (it became living to non-living, then humans to animals, then the race categorization).

it's better that way. They're action games anyway. Well, yeah. Obviously someone who likes DMC is going to be interested in Gears, since they're a fan of action games. Just like how someone who likes adventure games will probably own a Wii, because they like games like Zelda and Sam & Max.Xbox 360 has more games, and the most critically acclaimed games as well (including exclusives).Stevo_the_gamerI have to diagree with you on that one, please support you opinon with facts on why xbox 360 has apparently ":more games" and "mroe exclusives" i would like you name some exclusives that the 360 has. please dont post something saying 360 or ps3 has more games or for that matter anything without giving facts supporting your opinion. PSN Exclusives: Prototype, Infamous, Uncharted 2, Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid 4 (along with Metal Gear Onlline), MAG, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, Socom Confrontation, WarHawk, Gran Turismo 5, Heavy Rain, PSN/PS3 Exclusives: Flower, Wipeout HD, Ragdoll Kung Fu, Super Stardust HD, PixelJunk Monsters, Cuboid, EchoChrome, The Last Guy, Lumines Supernova, Comet Crash, Crash Comando, Fat Princess, These are just some of the ps3 exclusives that i could think of but there are many more. The ps3 also has Blu-Ray technology with a 55GB disk compared to a microsoft 9GB disk. The ps3 XMB is much more easy to go though compared to the 360 dash board (thats a personal opinion) plus the best part is it has free online.

It does in fact have more games than the PS3, and it does have more critically acclaimed games/exclusives (just check Metacritic, or look at the exclusives spreadsheet if you trust GS).

Well the ps3 was released one year after the 360 which means the 360 obviously will have more games but that doesnt mean there good ones and could you name some of these critcally acclaimed/exclusive games beacause i cant see a 360 exclusive compete with a game like MGS4, Maybe Halo 3?Guys!! I am planning to buy any one of these two.... so what do you guys suggest????I mean which will be better for buying?dblue45bad place to ask, the sony guys are so desperate for sales they will say anything to get someone to pick one up, go to the store and look at the lineups and talk to someone there, he will prolly be a fanboy too though so be careful lol
[QUOTE="metalgear-solid"]This comes from a user named metalgear-solid. You get more for your money with a 360 IMO, but they're both good consoles. Not really considering when i bought my PS3 60gb launch for £425 and then bought a 360 Elite for £300, once i'd bought all the add ons i needed for the 360, the price came to £380. Then it's £40 per year for Live. If you need to play wirelessly then 360 is deffinately not the console that gives more for your money.PS3 better games, better controller, better graphics, better and more reliable hardware (no RROD!!!), Free online.

And as for you saying "It doesn't mean they are good" then...
Number of quality 360 games
Number of quality Ps3 games
As you can see it has more quality games and exclusives. But you could like Killzone better than Halo and Forza better than GT but that's all opinion...
Bth consoles have good racing games. If you like to buy more acessories for the racing game like steering wheels etc. then i would go for ps3. Other wise, depends wether you are a fan of forza or gran turismo...
Your not gonna get a clear-cut answer. Some people are saying the 360 has the best games, but its common knowledge that the PS3 has the best exclusives, the highest rated exclusive (MGS4), and the best exclusive lineupWadeFan+1

It is not common knowledge and as a matter of fact that is a lie. X360 has a higher quantity of exclusives with a higher quality as well, scoring better here on gamespot. Combine that with the fact that 98% of multiplat games look and play better on the 360, your "better games" arguement goes right out the window.
If you like the 360s controller and play online, 360 is definitely your choice as live > psn.
If your antisocial when it comes to gaming and plan on buying a lot of blu-ray movies id give the ps3 a look
Better Games = Opinion, More Games = 360, Better Looking Games = PS3. Whatever one you buy, neither one will disappoint. Nonstop-MadnessBetter looking games? What? Because currently the console graphics king is on PS3 means the ps3 game library has better graphics than the 360s? Cows are getting more and more ridiculous. The only definitive thing we have to compare between the two systems is multiplats and the 360 versions almost always have SLIGHTLY better graphics

I would personally WAIT a few months and see if the PS3 slim actually comes out or if major price cuts happen. You may have a choice of a $299 PS3 slim or a $299 Xbox360 Elite, not to mention pack in game bundles. before Christmas.
PS3 is the best bang for the buck with built in blu ray and wireless and free online.
Xbox360 will be more expensive if you require a wireless adaptor and pay for LIVE, but, LIVE is easily the best online service if you desire excellent communication with friends , and if you enjoy movies, the netflix streaming is wonderfull.
If it just comes down to games. Both systems are fairly even with multiplatform games. When it comes down to exclusives do you want to play Uncharted, Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, Resistance 2, the Ratchet and Clank games, and upcoming rpg called Demons Souls,or , do you want Halo 3, Halo ODST, Halo Wars, Gears of War series , Forza 3, Left for Dead series, or the upcoming Square-Enix games Magna Carta 2?
It comes down to:
which movie option you like the best; blu ray or streaming netflix
which online components you like the best; free online or pay service with much better communication with friends
which exclusives or types of games you really want to play the most.
YOUR CHOICE.
PS3=
+Best exclusive lineup this year (I think anyway)
+PSN is just as good as live and free (lag wise bioth are the same and feature wise itsa so close it makes no difference)
+Blu ray means high devs videos and no multipe disks
+Very reliable
-excpensive (though may be getting a price cut)
360:
+some multiplats end up slightly better on the 360
+ its waaaay cheaper
+ Netflix and 1080p video streaming coming
Both are great, i tried to be unbiased but I'll be honest I think the ps3 is better right now. Especiallyfor newer exclusives and upcoming games.
