Sony: PS4 Is The Console of Choice For Shooter Fans This Generation

The first-person shooter audience is shifting to PlayStation 4 this console generation, according to PlayStation group marketing manager Lauren Bradley.

"This generation, the shooter audience is tending to switch over to PS4, so we’ve got high expectations for Star Wars Battlefront around both launch and into next year," Bradley told MCV.

His thread said the "exact opposite" based on one game, 343's lower 85/100 metascoring Halo 5. Good score for any game, but not a legendary score for the iconic franchise. He got the game early and it had the word Halo on it, and it worked for his console with an "X", so of course he thought it was the greatest shooter in the universe, but then again, he only has one machine, so he will never know if that is true.

Despite some weaker Campaign and no split-screen options for the newest Halo, it is clearly it's a good game though, all jokes aside

I understand you were just taking a jab at Salt_Fries and it seems you agree that Halo 5 is a good game but, out of curiosity, what next-gen console exclusive first-person shooter is better than Halo 5 in your opinion?.. Also, what next-gen multiplatform first person shooter would you say provides a better overall package than Halo 5? Finally, what future first-person shooter do you anticipate providing a better package than Halo 5?

If you can't name any, then it seems that Salt_Fries was actually spot-on to think that Halo 5 was the greatest next-gen first-person shooter in the universe.. regardless of how many consoles he owns

Honestly, if one can avoid Shadowfall, they should.

Insofar as it's the most popular home console, then yes I guess it is the "console of choice for shooter fans". I will say that up until this generation I preferred the Xbox controller layout for shooters, but the DS4 has now taken that crown. My hands are comically small and I've got the beginings of arthritis, and the DS4 is definitely more comfortable for me. As anecdotal evidence, I've put in about 100 hours into both the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Battlefield 4, and have a signficantly higher KD ratio on the PS4 version.

Oh they will probably choose Ps4 then hate the controller and PSN for playing said shooters.

If you game online with a console it's just done right on Xbox One

Taking into account multiplats and exclusives, it's a tough call. However, it's hard to disagree that the shooter audience seemed to have switched to the PS4 along with many other kinds of gamers.

Xbox has all the same shooters as PS though, with the addition of Halo, Gears and Titanfall. (and loss of Killzone, I guess)

Its hard for lems to accept Halo is no longer a top shooter or system seller. CoD, Battlefront/Battlefield, and Destiny are what most shooter fans play and PS4 runs all multiplats better so of course shooter fans will choose PS4.
