Sony: "GT5 Planned for October 2010"

According to an Italian gaming site, a Sony representative at last week's Game Developers Conference informed them the company was looking to release Gran Turismo 5 in October of this year. While GT5 received little attention at the show, Sony's marketing vice president, Peter Dille, re-affirmed the game would release this year. Of course, October also fits nicely within the "fall" release window mentioned by European Sony executive James Armstrong last month.

This gives Sony plenty of time to establish themselves in the 3D television market over the summer, providing the platform to introduce GT5 as the technology's "killer app" at the start of the popular holiday buying season. While we must be wary of this somewhat anonymous source of information, it lines up with everything else we've been hearing as of late. Time will, as always, tell.

i think i'm not alone when i say i'm reserving myself to just be happy when the game is in my hands... have a hard time believing everything they say about GT5

Well at least I have Forza 3 now...what a joke.

Since when does a major shift in television viewing get established in less then a year? If 100k people have a 3D tv by then Ill be impressed. Anyway I will believe it when I actually see GT5 on a shelf, other then then its just another opportunity to delay the game.

Ha! Consumers are still taking their sweet-ass time upgrading to regular ol' HDTV (ditto for Blu Ray), but I'm sure Sony will be able to establish themselves in the 3D market in a matter of months (because people definitely want to sit around in their basement wearing those goggles). Better stick to running Japanese interviews with Yamauchi through google translator, GTPlanet.

Back on topic, I'll believe it when I see it.

You're trying too hard. GT5 has been delayed once, and that was for Japan only.

I'll wait for a confirmed relase date either from Sony or PD.

Cant wait for this game, I just hope its as good as Forza3, which is the most amazing racing game ever imo (along with Turismo 2)

If this is true, than all i can say is: About freakin time (although it gives me time to get wheels for Forza and GT)

In order to avoid further disappointments am doing my best not to take such 'release date' statements too seriously.. I'll just make sure to get the game 1st day when its actually available at my local store :)

It was playable at several game conventions including TGS last year.

• Fill-up space at each Sony E3 Conference
• Develop during 90% of the lifespan
• Release when all the hype is gone

I'm almost inclined to believe Sony just uses them to be a filler for their yearly Sony E3 Trailer. :lol:

I was hoping for June/July or something. October dosen't bother me because there's so many great games coming out in the meantime. My anticipation is on cruise control for GT5. Come fall, it should be pushing 200MPH :P.
