Sony readying teats for future milkage.

Well Sony are telling its US customers to get ready for some price hikes of all things PS due to something called tariffs, not sure what they are, so if someone could explain them to me thst would be great 🤭

Nice of Sony to give people a heads up (lube) ahead of time so it doesn't feel so dry when they do raise the price.

Me personally, I'm happy about this, it's about time the US paid its fair share like the rest of us around the world.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand.

Not just Sony but everyone is using the Tariffs excuse just to raised the prices just to please the shareholders. They want to see prices go up and not down. MS can take a hit but decided to do it anyway for their own gains and the same can be said for Nintendo. Sony cannot afford to take a hit and they really want to raise the prices but they know they're going to take a backlash if they do regardless if they use the Tariffs excuse, Sony is in a wait & see approach.

Edit: Tariffs are not always set & stone. They are base by base cases.

A Tarrif is a bullshit word for a tax on imported goods. Said tax is paid by the consumer. Trump is a liar and idiot.

@davillain: If that's the case then why doesn't the government serve the citizens by passing some anti-price gouging laws and prevent companies from doing this? The FTC should get involved and do some investigations because that sounds like collusion. They should do something to help us out.

@davillain: For me this is about Americans rightfully paying their fair share. Sony has shielded Americans from price rises while raising the price worldwide so they don't have to charge Americans what they should be paying in line with the rest of the world.

This is not hating on you guys, just that the rest of the world believes (rightly) that we shouldn't have to pay for your countries leaders decisions.

Xbox fans already have their Xbox consoles, have had them for years, and don't need to buy their games because they got that Game Pass. What he's really talking about is those Sony fanboys posing as always disappointed Xbox fans. And that's rather ironic too as it is those Sony fanboys that Microsoft is shaking down with the pricier games. He's right though, give credit where it's due, Microsoft be milking those 🐮 "Xbox fans" 🐄

Sony/MS etc can use the excuse of tarrifs or inflation and "justify it" and get away with it but only for so long, but who do you think was the first country to allow you to get a refund even on digital games that are deemed broken, that's right our government, we have a lot of great consumer laws.

You should worry about your backyard and Sony abusing the rest of the world to save you a couple of bucks.

Personally im a fan of tarrifs and happy trump is adding them. People have too much money anyways, spending money on stuff like games while the government is broke and 35 trillion in debt. There needs to be more discipline on all sides on getting the debt under control. Some armchair folk believe that debt is fine for a country. Sorry its not fine. You are irresponsibly spending 100s of billions per day on interest to just SERVICE the debt. This isn't sustainable. Unfortunately I dont trust Trump to do the right thing, and actually pay off the debt. That's just the tip of the iceberg, the crumbling infrastructure is a disaster waiting to happen. I think the next thing to tarrif should be all the junk and pre-made foods. With the amount of obese Americans walking around, I think it could truly make America great again if everyone lost some weight around their waists.

As for the ps5, I dont think sony wants to raise the prices of their consoles. MS was willing to do it because Xbox is less a console and more a platform. They sell their games everywhere, including on mobile, on Playstation and switch, on PC and on gamepass. MS doesn't rely on just consoles to sell their product and they could care less if the price of Xbox goes up. Sony isn't in that position...and Nintendo is in an even worse position. I would like to see how many people actually buy a switch 2 when the console is priced the same as most smart phones these days

As for companies offsetting prices in different markets, that's what they do to avoid the black market and also so they don't disrupt and potentially lose a valued market. Look at the history of pricing goods, they maintain consistent regional pricing across the world. The only way this will change is if the USD devalues.

@last_lap: I was a non pc gamer before this gen... Had a many year dormant steam account and was mostly gaming on switch....

PC delivered the deck to me and steam os made gaming more seemless like a console. In terms of having appeal, pc has done fine in my neck of the woods.... They are also not immune to the price gouging were seeing.... And they're all digital. I mean?

Raising the price in the US won't stop sales or even hurt sales when their competitor has raised theirs.

Simply put, its time for the US to pay their fair share.

consoles get cheaper and cheaper to make over time. no reason for 100 bucks price hike on xbox a american product. yet every thing is made in china. because we believe in slave pay.

@gifford38: The win where companies are just moving manufacturing to India instead? Maybe some foresight here would have helped, as well as a plan for companies to meet certain expected milestones. Instead companies are looking for ways out that the government wasn't able to predict.

As for price hikes, again, government needs to do something about price gouging and stop letting this happen.
