And six months later, at that lol.
Thoughts, SW? Did you care that much about Abby in TLOU 2? I really didn't care about her or her motivations to be honest. I feel like this was a failed character study.

With TGA just around the corner, seems Sony's trying to stir up conversation. What's the old saying? No such thing as bad publicity?
Heard bits about the game. No interest in it myself, even if Sony might decide to port it to PC one day. Reeks too much of "the David Cage" for my liking.
Overall, I think it was still pretty good.
They took some big risks w/ the storyline(s) and, for the most part, they turned out fine.
The fact that they are making a trailer of it still, implies the game is still doing somewhat well, but I dunno. Didnt it drop hard after the first month? And didnt make it back on the charts?
Just feels questionable at this point.
I believe it has a lot more to do with being near the video game awards season. It's just Sony's reminder this game came out in 2020 and they're interested in awards.
This is the equivalent of "Oscar bait", a commonly despised tactic in the movie world.
I'll give Abby some credit that she was Negan (from Walking Dead) of TLOU2 and that's all I gotta say about her. TLOU2 was okay but as of now, I prefer Ghost of Tsushima for being a new IP and that's saying something.
I think GoT will take GOTY from TLOU 2 at the Game Awards, but I know you're rooting for Animal Crossing 😉

Dude GoT definitely deserves it. At times I would forget I was playing a sucker punch game. It's incredible how they went from Infamous to GoT in the same gen.
Dang, that makes me want to do another playthrough. Great use of music. As for Abby? I think I came to like her more in the end than Ellie, so Naughty Dog did a good job with their execution, I feel.

I agree. Bizarre to me that someone would lament a console game for being "a failed character study". As opposed to what exactly? They made me care about this character and about both sides of the argument. It was incredibly powerful.
Game was awesome. She's not there to be liked, she represents the opposing side of a rampage of revenge.

GoT is a good game but still suffers from some large missteps. The further into the game you are the more obvious they become.
Before playing the game, i was worried she will ruin the game. At the beginning of the game i didn't like her at all. By the end of the game i liked her story. Would absolutely love a dlc/expansion that is just centered around her and Lev getting to where they were going.

Yea, they've matured and are up there now with some of the best. I think TLOU 2 had amazing AI, maybe best I've seen last gen. Great combat and graphics. But GoT had a more likeable character and story, maybe because we played it after TLOU 2 lol.
I really like playing abbey’s part, but then again I don’t take games serious enough to a point that I get all butt hurt about it.
@SolidGame_basic: is GoT that great? The ratings on gamespot have pretty much called it a flop.
I just beat the last of us 1 on ps5 and loved it. I didn't agree with joels decision at the end, **** over all of humanity to save one girl and then lying to ellie at the end. It rubbed me the wrong way and honestly I don't like Joel as much as I should a normal protagonist. He's almost a villain in my eyes, though I understand he does what he does because he thinks of ellie as his daughter.
I also purchased the last of us 2, haven't started it yet but im well aware of all the spoilers. I dont think I would care even if the story isn't that great.
The thing I didn't like about tlou is how hard it was to kill enemies. I played it on normal and I struggled so hard to kill the zombies, clickers, the soldiers using only stealth. Forget that, the cannibal guy was nearly impossible for me, and I had to change the difficulty to easy just to get past him. Maybe I suck at games, I dont know how someone would beat the game on survival or grounded modes.

Bricks and bottles.
I know you didn't ask me, but GoT is excellent. Must play if you're a fan of the source material.
Didn't play it, but the impression I got from most people is that TLOU 2 was sort of underwhelming. Is that true?
Seems to home come and gone rather quickly.

It has great action and stealth, decent pacing, great graphics. Some people just need to get over some personal issues if they're finding it hard to enjoy the game. I finished TLOU1 remastered again after finishing TLOU2 two times.
I loved TLOU2.
No where as good as the first one in my opinion. To me part 1 was perfect and there was really no need for a second part.
But honestly I didn’t even cared that much about Abby.
I did like her friends, since they didn’t seem to approve at the end what had happened.
But overall it was a great game, I just which they would had focused more on the virus and the infected.
Most of the game you have to worry about people, rather than the infected.
But it did had great AI.
Overall great game that got my goty vote.

I enjoyed GoT. It's a fun game. I wouldn't call it a masterpiece, but I think people really liked having a samurai game that was authentic and the combat was good in my opinion. An all around great game. It actually has one of the highest user scores on metacritic (9.2 out of almost 18,000 reviews!)

I'm glad you enjoyed it overall but didn't you think there were huge improvements on the first game?
The level design alone blows the first one out of the water imo.
I love the prequel but even back then it didn't have the best level design. This one was far more flexible.
@biggest_loser:
Yes, as far as the mechanics go, part 2 is way better, from the level design, the crafting, the stealth element, and of course the AI are way better overall on part 2.
But I was talking more about the actual characters, and story, I just think part one was perfect.
But either one of the 2 is by far the best games I played in the generation, and both are highly recommended.
The main plot is terrible, full of emotionally manipulative writing and characters doing stupid shit. The actual gameplay and encounter design is pretty good. But then again I'm a sucker for this type of setting in media.
Im just so tired of talking about this game. I liked it enough. It was fine. No, I didnt like Abby that much. I understood it. I get the motivations. I just didnt think it was as compelling as the first game. Now im leaving this thread before I get another headache from this game.
Didn't care about it when it came out, don't care about playing it now. ND has changed and not for the better.
It’s pretty pathetic this game still bothers you. I definitely didn’t love it, but I just moved on like a normal adult.

Umm... what bother? Just the normal "it's on another system so it's not gud" stuff. If you are referring to my comment, then you have skin thin because I simply am indifferent to it.

How do you know they've declined if you haven't played the game? Whatever you think of the story aside, ND's game play mechanics just keep improving.

I stopped caring about their games after UC4. It was ok but tired. LL didn't interest me and neither did a sequel to TLoU. Things the company has done just puts me off, like consulting Sarkeesian, Neil Druckman insulting people on twitter etc. Don't like the direction that TLoU2 went with, concerning Ellie and Joel so I can't see spending money for it and supporting all that.
Plus I'm not fond of stealth mechanics in games in general, but I'll give it a try when it's dirt cheap, maybe, perhaps used, just to say I gave it a chance.
