Yesterday, Game Trailers asked God of War creator David Jaffe what he would change concerning the PS3. Jaffe responded that "I probably would have taken the Blu-ray out and sold it for less money."
Today, Sony gave GamePro an official response to Jaffe's much-hyped Blu-ray comments, saying that Jaffe "has earned the right to speak his mind on anything he wants when it comes to videogames."
"While we respect [Jaffe's] opinion, we feel strongly that the future of gaming lies in the ability to deliver more to the consumer -- more gameplay options, more lifelike graphics, more dynamic sound -- all in high definition," Sony's Dave Karakker continues. "To do that, you need a storage vehicle such as the 50 GB Blu-ray disc, because your standard 9 GB DVD simply can't handle the demands of true next-generation gaming."

They say all that crap then they release a game like Motorstorm that doesn't even come with an option to race each track separately and has 8 tracks. "More dynamic sound" Dolby Digital is more than enough sound goodness for most human ears.

Shadow of the Colossus looks *almost* as good as God of War 1 and 2. :D (SotC has a few graphical glitches I really could've done without.....) And what I mean is, they're telling Jaffe, the guy who gave them their best looking game and probably their best franchise, that gamers want better graphics and more options as if he didn't already know all that when he made his statement. I just find that funny and more than a little bit ironic.

They included blu ray to win the new dvd format plain and simple and having gaming attach onto it was an extra for them. That's what they should have said since that is the actual truth.

Well, it's a good thing we have Sony here to bring us "true next gen gaming" - which they've done a wonderful job of so far, I might add.  I remember back when they said "The next gen starts when we say it starts"...  I wonder when they'll give the word?

Zone of the Enders 2nd Runner, MGS2, and FFX is good enough. Either way, as the world's biggest GOW fan, my point is there are a lot of other great looking PS2 games.

Heck, SONY's GT4 outshines GOW and SONY's SotC is great looking too.

Either way, they respected Jaffe's Opinion, and stated theirs, and that post was designed to make it as though SONY attacked Jaffe.

Furthermore, we will see how Jaffe feels when is is making GOW 3 on PS3.

Uh....no I'm not, pay attention.

You realize you are defending a terribly biased post, right? Sony didn't attack Jaffe, and God of War isn't the best looking PS2 game EVAH! (But it is one of the top 20). Jaffe didn't even do God of War II, Barlog did, and that is better looking than JAFFE's God of War.

Yeah, You didn't know that, wow. Haha. I guess you thought I was talking about God of War II, but I wasn't since Jaffe merely produced Chris Barlog's Game. Snap.

Comparing ZoE2, MGS2, GT4 to Gow1.

Either Way, GT4 will probably go down as the #1 anyways, who knows.

Blue-Ray is not needed on PS3. PC put outs better sound, graphics, and HD visuals on a DVD9 and you know why it can do that on a DVD9? Because it has a standard HDD. Oh wait just like all PS3's

Blu-Ray is not needed for Video Games, and is a waste of money.

Sony says the needed word again.

Why hell isn't Devs taking advantage of the greatness that is blu-ray. I payed for it, cows and Sony say how great and important it is, blu-Ray has yet to offer us jack. Is it wrong for me to be upset over this? Is it wrong for Sony and Devs to claim how important Blu-Ray is for next gen games? Sony claims I need this pricey techknology, but then they don't take advantage of it in their games?

NO one asked which is MORE IMPRESSIVE, they (and Myself) were talking about WHAT LOOKED BETTER.

Same reason applies to RE-Make on Cube Vs. RE4. RE-make blows it away when it comes to Looks, but RE4 is more impressive for sure.

LOOKS is the name of the game.

It's been said before and I'll say it again, the PS3 is only a means to get the Blu-ray format into people's homes.  Gaming is secondary to them right now.  The thing comes with a Blu-ray movie, for crying out loud. That's right, movie, not a game, for the Playstation 3. What does that tell you?

what are these true next gen games that Sony are talking about that 360 can't handle?, I keep hearing about Blu-ray but so far it seems to have had zero impact on gaming. Sony need to stop talking about their "true next gen gaming format" that so far has delivered nothing to gamers, and start talking about the games.

Whatever. ONE OF the PS2's best looking games, then. My point is that Jaffe is one of the LAST people who needs to be told by Sony that "audiences want better graphics, more gameplay options," etc.

Well, duh.

CD Rom was primarily used for the first year of the PS2's life, and DVD ROM was left on the sidelines. New Tech takes awhile to adopt.

It is also possible that it isn't needed, either way, IT's Too early to tell. Think ABOUT IT.

Whatever. ONE OF the PS2's best looking games, then. My point is that Jaffe is one of the LAST people who needs to be told by Sony that "audiences want better graphics, more gameplay options," etc.

They would remind anyone who said what David said, no matter how had up they are. You make it sound like Sony is attacking David.

Uh, that isn't true. Kojima and Square still have him beat or at least tied.

With what? If you're talking about MGS3 and FFXII, please, don't even bother responding.

Well, I agree with that.  When I read Jaffe's original rant, I was surprised Sony granted him that kind of latitude, and it is def. interesting. However, it would be even more awesome if he said this after he completed God of War 3 for PS3. That would show he actually developed a full fledged Retail game and didn't need it.

He is right though, as I can see with my 360, DVD is fine, and it up to SONY to prove otherwise.

No, read my...er...second post on this thread. I was just commenting that it's more than a little ironic that the person they are saying it to is Jaffe. It's kinda like telling Steve Jobs, "Dude, people want music on their iPods."

Microsoft may aswell come out with a PR release aimed at sony saying...

"Is the magic in the board? or the hands that use it?"

The majority of the greatest games out at the moment don't even use more then dvd9, sony is pushing a format through a console, its as simple as that.
