Yesterday, Activision CEO, Bobby Kotick, threatened to stop supporting Sony's consoles if it didn't stimulate Playstation 3 sales by cutting its price.

Today, Sony issued an official response.

"PlayStation has tremendous momentum coming out of E3, and we are seeing positive growth with more than 350 titles slated to hit across all our platforms, including many anticipated games from our publishing partners," PlayStation spokesman Patrick Seybold said. "We enjoy healthy business relationships with and greatly value our publishing partners and are working closely with them to deliver the best entertainment experience."

that was so empty. More empty than my christmas tree on christmas. What is sony thinking anyways. Like come out and say "were working with activision to come to a plausible solution" not "our consoles going so fast after e3 we wouldnt worry"

what did you expect him to say?

"aw, forget activision, what you bought your ps3 just to play guitar hero and call of duty and singstar? pffffft, play some real games, we don't need their shovelware titles anyways"

That was hardly a response. I have a feeling though that Sony may just drop the price in the fall.

The best response would've been no response at all.
Still, that generic nonsense was essentially the same thing.

No the best response would be "Here's an idea Activision, all your employees lie on the floor, and all our employees teabag you."

lol, the expected lame response. everybody knows there's most probably gonna be a price cut and Sony is playing dumb so that consumers wont stop buying at the current price point.

Expected. And this response doesn't help or hurt Sony. 1.) Sony may very well drop the PS3 price this holiday. 2.) It won't be because of Activision. 3.) Activision won't drop PS3 support.

So late-summer/early-fall price cut confirmed? They're clearly taking Activision seriously (otherwise they would have told them to **** off), but they didn't say they were working with Activision to find a solution (which would imply a price-cut is on the way, something Sony would want to keep under wraps until the last moment).

Because they are professionals. Even if they didn't care, they would've said the same thing. Sony doesn't wanna look like the deal breaker in front of their players. Activision's CEO is acting childish, he thinks that having MW2 allows him to do whatever he wants.

This may look bad for Sony. It may look like Sony would be bending over backwards for the developer and more developers may start making demands when there mad with Sony.

is that even a directed response?

It sounds like more of a "call sony if you are the news with questions and this is what you hear" response

Sony's response seems very mature and more classy...
Hinting and undermining Activisions CEO who's acting like a crying 10 year old.

We all know Activision are not going to do anything, and Activision CEO looks like a moron.
But TBH the majority of people ive spoken to or commented on it would rather have seen Sony say goodbye, even if it would of been apossible blowto Sony.

Who the hell cares?

Let Activision halve their target audience.

I can't remember the last time I bought an Activision product, certainlynone inthe last two generations.

I don't even understand why Activision came out and said what they did. If they said it before E3 maybe Sony would have thought about dropping it then, but waiting till after E3 to say this when its so obvious that Sony will drop it at TGS... I don't get it.

What did people expect Sony to say? "Oh we're dropping the price come this fall, don't buy a PS3 till then!!" or "Hey Activision, why don't you just shut the *bleep* up!" It would be an absolute disaster for them either way, so they're obviously going to make the neutral statement.

i said just this the other day, and i got flamed like mad for it,if SONY give in to this more devs will jump on the bandwagon, not just with SONY either, devs should not be allowed to dictate console prices, attitudevision where quite happy to reap the rewards from SONY the last 2 gens, now they want to drop them like a hot potato, i call that backstabbing, i can understand valve doing it, as they never really made a penny from SONY, it's still bad that they are taking this line, but not as bad as what activision are doing, activision probably wouldn't be around if it wasn't for the ps1
