Why We Are Excited For Sony Corporation Conference At E3 2015

If Sony is to make PS4 its main source of profits, it needs to revive some old franchises to cement its place in the console wars, and now may be the best time to do so

Despite Sony’s financial struggles, the PS4 has proved to be a highly profitable product for the multinational. Fans have been craving for some old titles to make a comeback on the best-selling console of this generation. We take a look at why now may be the perfect time to play with the nostalgia factor of consumers and bring in tons of surprises.

Sony’s last year’s E3 conference was a hit and miss for many. The conference started off as a typical Sony conference with facts and figures over how well the company has done over the past year. Customers had to go through their veggies in order to get to the dessert that was Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. However, as of yet, Sony has been lackluster when it comes to exclusive titles. The Xbox One has managed to develop more highly rated titles than its competitor. Sony needs to look into this issue as soon as possible if it is aiming to achieve the dominance of previous consoles like PS1 and PS2.

Sony may have to look into some fan requests and fulfill them. One game that has the potential to literally break the Internet is The Last Guardian, a game which was last announced at E3 2009 and is still in development. It only makes sense that the game will be shifted to PS4 rather than its originally intended release on the PS3. Gamers can expect this game to finally be re-revealed for the excitement that it brings to the table. Sony has also been throwing several Easter eggs regarding the return of Crash Bandicoot. Whether the game will be developed by Naughty Dog remains in jeopardy, but one thing is for sure, return of our beloved orange bandicoot will be amazing news for platform gaming as well as loyal Sony fans.

Sony showcased one of the weirdest game trailers at E3 2013. It was a tech demo of what could be achieved on modern consoles and was termed ‘’The Dark Socerer’’. The trailer came from Quantic Dream, the studio behind drama based titles like Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls. Quantic revealed that they had been working on a PS4 title scheduled to release somewhere around 2015 to 2016. A trailer of this unannounced title will spark great interest among fans of drama based games.

There are other franchises as well that Sony has left untouched ever since the release of PS4, such as Resistance, Gran Turismo, and God of War. A return to any of these franchises won’t be surprising, since a lot of rumors have indicated that work over these titles has already begun.

Sony has also managed to establish a special place in the hearts of gamers who enjoy indie titles. One of the taglines it used to market itself over E3 2015 was Playstation <3 indies. One indie title that gamers are anticipating eagerly is No Man’s Sky, a game that blew away the minds of gamers around the world, Sony however, may want the developer of No Man’s Sky to take their time in order to live up to all the hype that has been created around it.

Then there’s always talk of a new Twisted Metal game. The tendency has been to release one title per generation. 2015 may be early for a new Twisted Metal game however, a teaser trailer is not too much to ask for.

Lastly, never count out the possibility of an entirely new IP. What gamers would love to see is a title that does something different, something that Shadow of Mordor managed to do with its jaw dropping nemesis system. What the new IP has to avoid however, is to fail to live upon expectations like The Order 1886 did. What such a failure does is daunt the brand image of PS4, and Sony will be very careful in lending its name and exclusivity to developers from now on.

There is also a lot of buzz regarding other peripherals, most notably the codenamed VR headset Project Morpheus. It is set to compete against the likes of Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. It’s really exciting to see how much support will be given to this headset and how much software support Sony will provide it.

Other than software and Project Morpheus, there could be a word or two on Vita along with new functions of PlayStation TV. We can also expect a price cut from Sony over PS4 to compete with the $349 Xbox One. One thing is for sure, this year’s E3 conference can be pivotal for Sony in assuring its place at the top for the next two years at least. Furthermore, the return of many nostalgic titles that shaped our childhood is more likely than ever.

http://www.technewstoday.com/22086-why-we-are-excited-for-sony-corporation-conference-at-e3-2015/

This coupled with a lot of bullish news on Sony for the day. Looks like things are looking a bit brighter in days ahead for the PS4 and Sony in general. Considering the Cloud has yet to unleash it's infinite power and DX12's 20% power increase remains 'unconfirmed' (LOLz) things could get awfully hot this summer.

And since everyone loves Investment Wars, have some fun with this:

We'll see. I am most excited for Nintendo's this year- Zelda, Star Fox, Xenoblade, and potential rumblings of their new hardware.

No Naughty Dog is a huge bummer, they're regularly the best parts of Sony's shows.

Nintendo is the only one that makes games that still interest me. So they are going to be the only show I remotely care about for the third year running.

Sony's past couple E3's have been meh, and Microsoft's have been pretty horrible.

The E3 shows since 2013 have been pretty craptacular overall anyway.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Treehouse again, best thing about E3 last year was Nintendo's 48 hour game coverage.

Both the PS4 and XBone will probably have a ton of reveals at E3. They are both having great momentum since launch and I'm guessing Microsoft and Sony will want to keep it that way. As far as Nintendo goes, even if they don't have much to show for WiiU, Zelda will steal the show.

The only things I know for sure will be part of E3's press conference are Uncharted 4 gameplay footage and Bloodborne DLC.

Remember all the countless times people hyped up consoles and games etc....

And then fall flat.... ( Watch Dogs one example )

Don't see why you would act like you are a gold fish with memory span of 3 seconds. Remember HYPING is a waste of energy.

........

But it's ok to hype The Witcher 3...

CD Projekt RED in you we trust !

I am shocked that the word hype is being used with Sony in the same sentence. Not really..........

I'm going to guess that we'll see a lot of cgi trailers, and some gameplay footage of games running off a pc. The new games they show will be targeted for release next year, but they will be delayed to 2017.

I thought MSes was the worst. All they did was show trailers that could have just been montage all while twiddling their thumbs ignoring the 500 pound gorilla in the room which were their promises for Cloud power and DX12. It was pathetic.

You are correct. Last years E3 only solidified SONY's stranglehold on the gen as sales leader and showed people numerous AAA blockbuster games in the works,

It'll be worse this time than it was last year. Not just the hype, but the disappointment. We're going to see even more stuff that we won't care about like Morpheus and news about new services (vue) and non gaming stuff. Sony wants you to buy that stuff so bad.

I'm actually looking forward to MS E3 conference. Hopefully the rumors of Battletoads is true and Phil was saying that jrpgs will come to the Xbox One is encouraging.

But Nintendo and their Treehouse event is the best part.

Hope it is. I thought last year's E3 was a bit bleah from the big 3. What I want to see from people are games with hard release dates not vague promises of "sometime in 2016 maybe" or "2017ish" and most importantly bloody gameplay. Stick your cutscenes and mocked videos up your arse devs!

As it should be for any market leader with momentum.

You should the thousands of articles that pop up for Apple whenever we get close to November.

New iPhone or new PS4 re-designs / price-cuts is stuff that will get the masses speculating for months. I'm sure Sony has never been more content to be sitting in that throne again.

you guys think the same thing about practically every conference. Even when Sony's PS Experience was some of the most awesome conferences in the history of this industry people were still saying that it was meh. Like seriously, what you guys expect out of a conference? And things are not gonna get better from now on with the focus on indie games, hardly any AAA games worth the hype anymore.

I agree with this. Last year's E3 wasn't earth-shattering but Sony would be wise to use their current momentum with maximum effect. Lots of game announcements with a price cut would be a big win for them.

Because over half of what they show (at all the conferences) is smoke and mirrors. Vaporware, games we won't see for years, games we saw last year, stupid gimmicks, not real gameplay, games not even coming close to what was promised, even faked gameplay ffs and then endless cutscenes. I guess I just feel jaded now by the whole E3 show.

To be fair to last year's E3 (and I know I've been bashing it a bit) they had blown a bunch of loads at launch annoucements prior to it.

Everyone hypes but yeah Sony seem to perfect overhyping and underdelivering more than the rest. It's like they have a formula every E3 of showing a bunch of games (with no actual release dates and even if it did have one, that's not a guarantee it'll come out on time since Sony leads the way with delays), showing a bunch of games (with no actual gameplay), and showing a bunch of games with good graphics (these games always look their best on these shows but they downgrade by launch). So Sony do their part hyping the crap out of their E3 then their fans gets all googly eyes and does the rest for them by believing what was shown will meet the hype. But one by one what were shown gets delayed, downgraded, flop and maybe even canceled but by the time you could laugh at them and their fans, the next E3 is already here with a new set of Sony hype to make their fans googly eyes again. A never ending cycle.

I am excited to see what all have to show. I want to see what starfox looks like for Nintendo, want to see what games xbox get and want to see more from Sony VR

do you think they got better camera and audio guys this year?

was that E3? I remember laughing @clyde46 defending the cameraman though :P

I think it actually happened at multiple Sony events so it kind of came up as a joke in the stickies during the live presentations.

Last year wasnt that great, im hoping for some new game announcements

I agree with this. Last year's E3 wasn't earth-shattering but Sony would be wise to use their current momentum with maximum effect. Lots of game announcements with a price cut would be a big win for them.

To be fair to last year's E3 (and I know I've been bashing it a bit) they had blown a bunch of loads at launch annoucements prior to it.

There was no way either of them were going to stand a chance against Nintendo. Sales be damned, Nintendo's E3 last year was HAM.

@Shewgenja: Ya MS and Sony didnt have good e3's last year, Nintendo's wasn't super great, but it was good (better than MS and Sony). Hoping for a better year, 2014 wasnt a good year...

Announcements of announcements.

Only the brainwashed Soony media writes articles licking the boots about a future show, that might show something great, that may launch sometime maybe in the not so distant future.

My god.

One could say the hype is unconfirmed.
