hey you know what just because sonys nintendos competitors dont mean they cant be friends , after all nintendo is the original reason they existed
if it hadnt been for nes , nothing today would be the same
i gotta give my respects to sony now!
well Sony didn't really save their arses....but for all those fanbois that were talking crap about the Dual Shock and how it copied the N64 controller...well thankx to Sony still releasing that thing in 1998 is what really saved Nintendo alot of money and headache after this outcome.
the Dual Shock should forever be remember as a hero.
salute!
Anascape couldn't sue Sony because the Dualshock was older, lol...Xbox knew that their design ripped off someone and they didn't know who (triggers, Dpad, Twin analog scheme, etc.), so they just payed up. If they had waited, they would have been helped like Nintendo as well. Interesting stuff.
The nerve of Anascape to file a patent in 2000 when Sony already made and was using the technology before them. What did they do, buy a dualshock, find out Sony didn't patent it, and then sit on the patent to make money?
I didn't really understand all that numbers crap with the patents. So all I really understand is Sony bails Nintendo out of the fire.Greyfeld
Random company suing Nintendo over an earlier patent that they have, but Sony already has a working controller in the market therefore making said patent invalid.

So it wasn't intentional, Sony's side of the case just happened to save Nintendo at the same time?[QUOTE="Gxgear"][QUOTE="Greyfeld"]I didn't really understand all that numbers crap with the patents. So all I really understand is Sony bails Nintendo out of the fire.Nerkcon

I'jm glad I wasn't the only one who had trouble with this, I was going to post this story a few hours ago but GS forum + PS3 browser= headache! Yes, The Evil Empire known as Sony indirectly saved The Holy Kingdom of Nintendo from getting ripped off.cant post direct linkhttp://n4g.com/industrynews/News-508913.aspx

Can someone find the address of this Analscape please? This is like their 5th attempt at getting money out of games industry based on worhtless patents.
From what I understood and skimmed over, it's basically there was a little loop hole in one of the patents that the company sued Nintendo and Microsoft for. Sony's original Dualshock was that loophole. siLVURcrossBasically what I got out of it. I wonder if Ninty will start selling Gamecube controllers again.
What you have planned Kung Fu?!Can someone find the address of this Analscape please? This is like their 5th attempt at getting money out of games industry based on worhtless patents.

i have one it involves the good old dog crap in a bag trick :P (jk incase i get modded).
But silly patent is silly, this company is like that EDGE gaming who tried to sue EA over Mirrors Edge and had the nerve to get a game taken off the app store over it having the name Edge pretty friggin pathetic companies like this actually exist.
These patent scalpers (that's what i'm calling them) are scum. Anascope never would have made such a controller anyway, just waiting for someone to fall into the trap and pounce.

The suspense will drive them insane! :oCan someone find the address of this Analscape please? This is like their 5th attempt at getting money out of games industry based on worhtless patents.

Maybe if you ignore the fact that theres nothing sue worthy, and that sony has been working with similar tech for over 6-10 years.
Guess sony should sue nintendo for having 2 analog sticks on thw gamecube.
That was funny.
Because Sony released the Dual Shock 1 back in 1998, Nintendo was able to win their case with some random person.
