I'm no genius trader or anything...but I think EA saying they are shifting their focus to the 360 over the PS3 had more to do with a stock drop than blogs saying that Madden runs smoother on the 360.

they really don't need this right now...

the price and lack of games is what's keeping people away...

once they learn the hardware is underperforming against the competion, while priced much higher, is not going to bode well for the holidays for sony.

madden has typically moved more than a few consoles, i can see this version moving a few too... just not sony's console..;)

If you mean from EA....they have already said they will prioritize the X360 version above the PS3 version. This is the reason why Madden X360 was running at 60 FPS and PS3 wasn't.

I expect nothing to actually change to be honest. It seems EA has become a default 1st party developer rofl. I kept telling people that there was more to it when Xbox's president of the gaming division leaves to EA.

To highlight my point, look at Medal Of Honor Airborne, Skate,and Orange Box. All are made by EA and guess what.....they are releasing it on X360 first giving them timed exclusives for month(s) depending on the game because they are giving X360 the majority of develoement time.

It seems to me PS3 owners just shouldn't buy EA games at this point. Much like the Wii arguement, if they are going to make crap games DON'T BUY THEM. If you do that they'll make them on par with X360 (and on time)...assumming PS3 doesn't fall behind in userbase.

btw, 16 cent drop.....you can't honestly think that means anything for their stock lol. That's like .034% drop.....oh noes they are doomed!

When madden came out on 360 it didn't run at 60fps at first. Now theres a version that does run at 60 fps on 360 who would get the PS3 version?

The PS3 has a low install base in America, i think in comparison to any game the PS3 version would be doing poorly.

The only reason EA kept madden off the dreamcast is because EA stopped development for sega, after sega pulled the plug on the saturn. EA had already invested a good amount of money into the sega saturn which sega unexpectively stopped support for because of the lack of sales. EA then said they weren't going to do business anymore with sega.

what did sopy gain? lead consideration for development and marketting... ever notice how most of EA games had the "PS2" logo after every commercial, even tho xbox versions were available? i did...;)

it's more than 30 fps that's the prob. it's the prob that $600 hardware as being perceived as chugging along while a console almost half the price runs smoothly....

given the casuals dislike for expensive gaming and madden being a proven system seller, this is really bad news for sony and the ps3.

EA dropping Sony is huge, quit being silly cows. If they're willing to do it, I promise more companies will too.

PS3 is a horrible failure and I cant stop thanking myself for denying my impulse to buy one at launch. I'd feel bad for Sony if they hadnt lied to their fans in order to push thier crummy new Blu-Ray format.

With EA bailing on them their popularity in America just evaporated. I know here at GS ppl like RPGs and Pokemon but in the real world casuals have Madden, period. Thats why they make a new one every year and thats why they dropped Sony over the performance of ONE game's sales. Its not just another game, its MADDEN, noobs. PS3 sales will grind to a halt in America by mid-'08...
