Really? Ouch. that stinks, and I hope that things get worked out for you.
Out of curiosity, since to the best of my knowledge you're the first here with an actual device not working with the update, could you tell us exactly what controller and keyboard you have that was affected?
We've been going through tons of controllers, keyboards, HDDs, Flash Drives, Headsets, ect and it'd be nice to get firm product models that are actually affected.
That is the reason ms has to sell it's own HDDs because of hackers. Blame them for both cases instead of MS or Sony!

And the 360 is still the pirate platform. Imagine what would happen if it used a standard HDD that people could plug into their computer and flash.
My USB Hub with PS/2 converter for keyboard works fine too, not to mention my Logitech Ventage USB headset

It does use a standard HD, they just made a special casing for it. Inside it is a regular cheap HD that they sell for 5x as much.

Installed on the 360 HDDs are MS system files.
i love how this board jumps to conclusions...Most likely its only temporary.
Most likely i will be called a cow for this

It's a shame that they did disable support. I've always admired Sony's open support of third party hardware, which is an idea that the other console makers should follow.
What you shouldn't admire them for is their end user agreement, which included the reservation of the right to brick your console and deny you access to any online services. I also admired them for their support of third party hardware, and likewise their support of open software standards, but that's why I'm upset. Their end user agreement affords them the ability to do much, much more than what they've done already. They could go Xbox tomorrow on us if they wanted to.It's a shame that they did disable support. I never implied that I did admire that. Almost all major companies will force you to agree to much more than they plan to implement. This is simply for the reason that if they do choose to implement a particular thing, they cannot be sued over it. They could go the route Microsoft has gone within a day. Will they? Probably not.

They should justly be sued for taking out features they advertised the platform as having... That they put it in the end user agreement should serve as a warning to you, as a consumer, that in order to protect yourself you shouldn't sign the agreement and shouldn't purchase their products. Signing that agreement is effectively a contractual agreement to take it in the rear if at any point Sony decides that's what they fancy... Just saying.[QUOTE="Dark_Knight6"][QUOTE="Brownesque"] What you shouldn't admire them for is their end user agreement, which included the reservation of the right to brick your console and deny you access to any online services. Lets be clear, they did not remove third party support, most of them still work. Its only a few products that don't seem to work and they did not do that intentionally. The reason this happened is to stop the jailbreak practise whereas MS doesn't allow third party products to force consumers to buy their brand only.
i'm also curious as to which products don't work anymore since that seems to be an answer the TC is avoiding to answer.

The 360's HDD have been hacked for some time. You can upgrade your hard drive witouth buying a new one from MS, you just need to already have the HDD case and to buy the right type (the same models that microsoft are using). Heck even PC World has the tutorial on the website. The only limitation you have is that you cant up the space to higher then the standard MS ones (even if you use a 1tb hdd it will only detect 250gb)

This is why Sony will be winning their case against removing OS. Sony's lawyer came out and has said the plaintiffs have yet to provide any evidence of Sony advertising the other OS feature through commercials, on box advertisements, or press releases.
They certainly never advertised anything about them being a system that is open to 3rd party unlicensed products.
if Sony got rid of the blu ray drive......that would be beyond hillariousFirst Linux. Then USB. Next its the Blu-Ray drive.

Mind giving us the full details of that USB controller?
I have used several USB devices on my PS3 and none of them have malfunctioned. Game Controllers, USB flashdrives, and a 1TB USB Hard disk.
In fact the very last thing I used (only last night, which is long after the most recent firmware update) is a 3rd party Guitar controller (not the official Guitar Hero/Band Hero controller)for use with the Guitar Hero games.
Did they even patch anything yet? I thought they were working on an update to disable the knock off controllers. I wouldnt be surprised if this is a precursor to being able to detect those USB dongle hacks.-ArchAngeL-777-That's what it does. Some controllers have the USB microboards in them, so they are blocking anything with those.

They are being sued for linux removal. And they will not lose the case, because they did not advertise linux, nor did they remove it from systems that had it. The user removed it by making a choice between updating or losing access to the psn. Simple.
And Sony is not obligated to allow 3rd party, unlicensed, hardware to work on their system. They just didn't have any reason not to until now. So, yes, you blame the hackers, who make these things necessary to protect their network and their interests.
crap i didn't think this affected me but i guess i need to see if my logitec wireless kb still works.
i guess it's no biggie if it does not since i have only used the thing like 10 times in the last 4 years but still, bummer if it's disabled.

the TC hasnt even responded. he didnt mention what controller it was or anything. anyways i tried my usb headset, external hdd, and my street fighter arcade stick, and they all work fine.bizzy420
Yea, I have a strong feeling this didn't really effect allot of people (just like Linux) yet allot of haters are jumping on the bandwagon.
I have a feeling the OP just needed to reset his controller :P
I have a hard time believing you when very few people have reported having problems with their controllers working after the update. If you're not lying, what controller and keyboard do you use? Now, 1 of my controllers doesnt work
and also I have a keyboard taht doesn't work !
