what about extra PS3 costs like component cables (go for about $40 new), or a headset (about $20-$25)???
funny how these articles FAIL to mention that.
Either way, this is desperate spin.
An Xbox 360 costs 199, 199, and 399. A PS3 is 399 and 499. Everything else is an accessory.....an option. You dont NEED any of the 360 add-ons.
What if you just want to play/save games? Then A Arcade would fit the bill just fine. With PS3 ur buying into bluray, wifi, stuff u may not want.
Nope.
One costs $399, the other one $199-$279.
It may have more value (what's argueable), but it is not cheaper.
Here is where Sony goes wrong in that article:
1) 20 GB HDD for the Xbox 360 is really all you need, and they can be bought for $30-50.
2) A wirless adapter can be bought for the Xbox 360 new for $60
3) Xbox Live is so far more impressive than Playstation Network for $50 per year which is $4.17 a month
4) A Blu-Ray player can now be bought for $200
199+30+60+(month of live free with console purchase)+200=$490 just $90 more than the Playstation 3. Then also count in the fact that the Xbox 360 is backwards compatible with some 200 Xbox Origonal Games while the Playstation 3 isn't backwards compatible at all.
so yes while the Playstation 3 is still "cheaper" than the Xbox 360 if you buy accessories for the Xbox 360, the 360 is still cheaper out of the box.

agreed. This is a desperate attempt of sony to put bad press to the competition, since they can't win in a normal manner. The funny thing is that people believe it. jeje...lame.

The people that believe it are the smart ones. The haters are the ones that don't want to believe it. And i couldn't agree with you more about the 360 being cheaper. It's one hell of a cheap machine. If you know what i mean [QUOTE="Cole-Protocal"][QUOTE="zatorys"] no u can get hdmi 20 but dude what about bluray 250$ MasterY_28

Wait for what? I got plenty of games. You're the one that's going to WAIT for better games once you get owned by KZ2. I'm sure you'll droll all over FF13, RE5 and Tekken 6. We MADE those games become what they are today and that's how you thank us? Pfff ! You can't touch me! If you guys like to play the 2005-2006 AAAE games library i got last gen games to throw in your face. That's true. But sadly, the PS3 needs it's hard drive. And I'm pretty sure Wifi adapters aren't usually 100$... That's just messed up.Either way, this is desperate spin.

You can get HDMI and headsets pretty cheap. And I wasn't aware that the 360 Arcade came with a headset...I thought just the Pros and the Elites did. So someone who buys an Arcade is still going to pay at least $15 for a wired headset, and $50 - $60 for Microsoft's wireless headset. It's pretty hard to bring those into the argument, as they wash each other out.
Live is a another difficult argument at times because that can go either way. PSN is free, but isn't the same quality as Xbox Live right now.
As far as factoring everything else into the picture, there are anumber of things that are considered "standards" by core gamers. Every current-gen gaming system, including the Nintendo DS, has WiFi except the Xbox. Hard Drives are par for the course now, especially taking into account all of the downloadable material available over Live.
BluRay isn't just for movies; it's also for gaming. It provides more storage space on one disc and cuts down the need for compression. It's also more durable than a DVD could ever hope to be. And the fact that I own the latest media format without having to put another machine in my entertainment center is a nice plus.
So by the time you've purchased most of the items that a gamer will eventually use, the cost will be pretty close. That's why you base it on games and not on the cost of the machine. They both hit you hard sooner or later. I know. I own them both.
Nope.

Agreed, i got my 360 and had DH out of the box. My friend bought a PS3 and he had to go buy HDMI cable (or he could ahve gotten component) and a headset. That made his purchase even more costly, and had he ought a 360, he would have had those from the start and had extra cash for more games. PS3 = too expensive and incomplete. 360 = everythign you need for HD gaming right out of the box I can't believe Sony would even offer a system without the HD cables considering you can't watch bluray without an HDCP capable tv/monitor, which you cant have over a composite connection. Stupidest move ever by Sony. EVER!The point isn't wether one is cheaper or the other. Its the fact that Sony took so freaking long to even bring up the price difference and how it can be broken down into accessories and what not.
Logitech rumble pad 2 for PC a 4 years old RF controller works great for PS3. So that saves money too. Sony needs to advertise better. Bring these things up
360 Pro has a headset, they go for $24.
The Elite has a HDMI cable. If you want a decent one itll be around $20.
Pro and Elite come with component cables. Brand new in a electronic store they go mfor about $30.
The Arcade comes with $40 worth of XBLA games.
The Pro and Elite still are bundled with Kung Fu Panda and Lego Indiana Jones......a combined value of $70-80
Sony kinda forgot to mention those eh
