Someone from RPG Site posted in the Resetera thread about this, making claims that someone at Sony is intentionally targeting Japanese games and games with a Japanese/anime art style. The poster even goes on to claim that whoever's doing it also harass developers into not speaking up.

Dig through the thread to find his posts, their name is Theswweet.

Not what I expected, thought they'd make the boobs smaller or make the girls dress like quakers.

Anyhow, maybe they just need to move the SCE American headquarters out of the bay area, might make a world of difference.

Hope it's not true, that sounds reprehensible. Glad it's being brought up.

Thought it would be boobs or panties, but no it's blood. I mean wtf? Is this just Japanese hate or will Sony censor all blood on PS5 now?

Calm down. They're indirectly clapping weebs, which is a positive.

Sony allowed TLOU2. That's all that needs to be said.

Sex scenes and gore is allowed, but you need to be western.

Anything anime/handdrawn is a no-no for Sony.

What a shitshow of a company.

By the way, Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! is created by a Westerner (Dan Salvato), which surprised me.

Let me guess, you were a young kid who started on 360, then switched to PS4 last gen, and only ever played aaa Western titles your whole life.

Leave the Bay Area, as well leave the "wokeness" behind as well.

I read the post and they didn't provide any examples to evidence what they said. It seems the game has heavier content than this but it isn't censored and people concluded Sony has a problem against teenagers practicing self harm on screen. Why is that? I don't know.

Sony - Blowing people heads off and shooting cops equal ok. But showing a little skin, not ok.

This is pretty confusing since death mark has some very bloody visuals and that part of the game was left alone. The Switch version is uncensored btw but since I own Doki Doki on PC, whatever Sony does is not my concern. This is Sony's fan issue.

If ResetEra thinks Sony has become racist, that's really something.

Don’t care about this game but if The Last of Us isn’t getting censored then it’s plain hypocritical.

This game is not intended for children, hence the ESRB "M" (17+) rating. Do not let its cutsey appearance fool you as it is a dark and distrubing game.

At least the Switch and PC versions are uncensored.

Looks like a dangerous game. I am surprised it's not been given the ban. It could give people depression or suicidal thoughts! Can't believe it's on the Nintendo Switch - a console known for fun, cartoony games :o

I suppose you have no idea how popular this game is, but that's not even the point. This just adds to a ever-growing list of titles that father sony has decided to protect us all from, going over the ratings board's heads and deciding what is or isn't appropriate.

Since you don't care about this game, specifically, you do seem to care about gaming and the industry in general, considering how many games you own. What if you made a game the way you wanted it to be, and then the politics of the day intervened and said you had to alter your creative works to be on Sony's platform? And then, what if you noticed that Sony was being biased and letting another developer keep the same cuts that Sony wanted you to change? And what if it was because of your cultural or racial difference?

Would that scenario possibly make you upset?
