Maybe finally this can stop the Sony/PS3/PSP doomed threads lol:

Nikkei reports today that Sony will be posting an operating profit of between 10 billion and 30 billion yen over the April through June quarter. The company posted a 25.7 billion yen loss in the same period the year before.

As contributors to the turnaround, the site lists strong sales of product in China, strong performance of new SLR camera models, and strong performance both domestic and abroad for LCD televisions.

It looks like video games contributed as well. Nikkei states that Sony's games and mobile division reached profitability for the quarter thanks to cost-cutting measures.

Quote me on this.. $50.00 price drop for PS3 incoming for the holidays. $249.99 120 GB model, $299.99 250 GB model and $399.99 250 GB/move console bundle. Makes perfect sense to me considering Sony has to have a console with a price range to compete with the new $199.99 360 AND they want to aim to the casuals.

Yeah, they've turned things around.

I'm not really into sales really, but good news for the company.

Sony couldnt stay in the red forever. the ps3 is a good console after years of tripping up. I just dont think it can be overlooked that they have been toppled as the industry standard for gaming.

Since when was Sony not making profit? It's not like the PS3 is the only thing they produce.

They can only go up from here, especially since the PS3 is becoming profitable.

Bout damn time :|.

Really though, this is good news :). Don't know what else to say other than that.

EDIT: Whenever my family invests into a 3D HDTV, it'll be a Bravia most likely. So, Sony, when you're losing and making money, I'll be a customer (only with the good products though!).
