The Wii was built around a gimmick just like the Wii U. The Xbox and PS3 primary input source are still a traditional controller while the gimmicks are just an option....

Building something around it doesn't make it a gimmick. It makes it integral to the gameplay sources. You need them to play. Adding motion to something that isn't a motion based system is the definition of a gimmick.

Considering its rivals will have movement functionality it could cripple Sony's iteration. Its a neat idea but it's nothing more than an expensive toy. Also I imagine the sound quality would be garbage on such small drivers. 5.1 emulation can be really good but lacking that deep bass on such small headphones
