SONY: We can only achieve sales through bundles

MGS4, GTA4, GT 5 Prologue.

Isn't anybody curious how these games would sell if they weren't included in a bundle???? Isn't anybody curiious how many PS3's would sell without these games included????

Well Sony doesn't want to take that chance. Apparently they have no faith in their userbase. So instead, they are bundling these great AAA games that have no reason to be bundled, as they can get sales perfectly on their own.

I don't know. Personally, I find that this is a weakness, as Sony clearly thinks they only way to fuel sales is to bundle games.

You could pretty much say the same thing about the Wii. With all those idiotic non-gamers buying Wii just for Wii Sports. You could pretty much say that about NES, Genesis, N64, or any console that was ever bundeled with a game.

I do think that bundles help, but I don't think it's the only way to sell consoles man. The PS3 has been selling very well lately with out the bundles.

It's a business decision and it's smart. Just like the exclusive content deal was a business decision that will help out the 360 version.

hes talking about the US only. ANd in the US, the PS3 outsells the 360 by roughly 5000 - 8000 each week. Compare that to the majority of 2006. I wonder what the gap was in that year?

The MGS4 and GTA IV bundles should be pretty limited imo because it would take a lot of cash on Sony's part to get them into their bundles because they are third party games. Consumers will have the option to buy the cheaper system in Europe or Japan and the game seperate so it is no like they are free pack-ins. Now some people are going to want to go after the 80 gig ps3 in NA because it has b/c , runble controller , Pain game ....... and they might not be interested in MGS4 neccessarily ...... but whatever , they are getting what is best for them ;) MGS4 bundled sales won't ever show up on the NPD charts so we can know how it really does there beyond the bundles ....... but at the same time a lot of MGS4 fans that heaven't bought a ps3 yet are going to want to get the bundle anyway.

so if somebody doesn't want a ps3 at all sees the bundle , he'll just change his mind and buy it ? or if mgs4(for example) wasn't bundled with the ps3 , people woudln't get a ps3 and then buy mgs4 ? :|

bundling a game with a system is a plus , but isn't the main factor affecting it's sales
