Is PSVR officially dieing or dead now? Sony really didn't show anything PSVR related and only showed a few games between the transition and at the end of the showcase. Hell they didn't even show anything about Ace Combat 7 either. I really want VR to be a success, but it seems VR is just a dead platform all around. Not a lot of developer support from the big developers. Hell Sony had a segment just for PSVR last year, but nothing this year. Not looking good.

What do you all think?

it will be a niche sideshow for VR enthusiasts. thats it.

sort of like french fries to the hamburger.

the real answer if it was a success as many claim will be if sony makes a VR set for the PS5.

I'm ultra bummed that there's no word on Ace Combat 7. Per VR, its audience is dedicated but trying to showcase those games next to the AAA PS4 titles doesn't make them look all that good. I don't know how Sony is planning to try to move more of those units but I don't think Sony is going to leave the market. Quite the contrary, I think they want to stick around but they have to open themselves up to the more active parts of the VR community which requires updating the hardware in a more meaningful way.

To be honest, I kind of didn't pay attention to the VR stuff even though I like my VR. I need to watch it again. I think at this point it's not going to change the dynamic of the industry (at least not at this time), but the people who have them will get games. Sony will always vaguely mention it in their advertisement, but it will never get a huge showing unless we're getting RE7 level VR games. It's just a side piece of being a PS4 owner.

VR is really cool. The issue with PSVR is the set up is horrendous. There's too many wires. And the games are too expensive for 2-3 hour experiences. I'm not spending $30-$40 on a 2-3 hour game. I always wait for games to go on sale.

They showed their PSVR library afterwards on stream. From Software is also making a PSVR exclusive. I'm not a fan of the gimmick, but it does not look to be dead.

VR doesn't need to show a bunch of games at E3 to be relevent. The PS VR library is already pretty big.

They could not bring a new game, won't happen, and GTS (if it keeps improving), Rigs, and Job Simulator etc. would be worth owning a VR set.

It doesn't matter to me that they didn't show a bunch of new games, and that new games will continue to come out without any E3 hype.

I'm looking forward to the Ace Combat game.

Showing VR games off on outside screens doesn't do the actual experience any justice either.

I hope PS5 is backwards compatible with PS4 VR and they use the power to improve games that need improvement. I would really drool over Gran Turismo Sport in 1080p and it would be a memorable, rare video game experience.

Must be on deaths door as there's no PSVR thread from quacknight, reduc, shewgenja or blueberry bandit.

They are the top VR "experts" here and yet not a peep from them.

Sony announced 7 games for PSVR around E3 and the actual PSVR booths at E3 stretch very long. They are using up a lot of space so clearly it's still a focus. PSVR2 on PS5 is when it will get really big.

VR has a far better library than Kinect and Kinect has had 7 years before it got discounted. This isn't even counting upcoming releases.

Nope. You do not understand how technology works. Something as powerful as VR will be a commercial success once newer generations hit. 3D TVs were never asked for, never changed anything and was only used in entertainment. VR has applications for most industries out there, has been a sci fi dream forever, and changes everything about computing.

PSVR is alive and well. AS others have said in this thread, Sony showed 5 PSVR games after the main event, one of which was From Software's exclusive new PSVR game. In addition, today Sony held an entirely separate PSVR-only E3 event, where they talked about a bunch of upcoming PSVR games. The dev behind Dreams have confirmed that PSVR support is coming day one; Ace Combat 7 PSVR is on the horizon; Firewall Zero Hour, the PSVR's new exclusive CS-style multiplayer shooter with Aim support is on the way as well; and a bunch of other games. Lots of news; not a lot of time personally to post about it. I couldn't even finish Sony's main E3 event--no sleep makes one grumpy girl, lol. Anyway, here's a video I found real quick streaming the PSVR event held today. They had a bunch of devs on to talk about upcoming PSVR games, and showed a bunch of games. I've watched snippets of it. Good stuff if you're interested in PSVR. Enjoy:

If it's not hurting the PlayStation brand in anyway, let them continue to support it. I think every gaming company now has some sort of of VR/AR product. If these companies want to gamble on VR, good for them let them. VR will never replace or even get close to replacing traditional ways for home gaming. VR gaming is a cheap party trick, VR gaming is a novelty like coin arcade gaming at Chucky Cheese and Dave N Busters, there are some fun games but eventually you go back and stick to the traditional way of gaming.

@lilseb93: There's one wire that comes out of a box that has a HDMI output so friends can see what's going on, on the tv, and a USB wire that's never seen. Unless you have the old model.

Was using my psvr yesterday and found a good chair to use if anyone is interested. It's a bar stool with a short back that swivels. Was pretty awesome. Only thing I need to figure out is how to get myself back to the original position(straight at camera) sometimes. RE7 gold edition is on sale right now and I still haven't tried it on VR. Yeah I'm a wuss, but thinking about getting it.

That's gotta be freaky. I don't mind admitting I'm a wuss lol. I think you can play it non VR also right? If so I'll probably get it. For $20 it's not a big deal I guess.

@super_swiper_oc: You definitely haven't tried VR if you think it brings nothing to the table. Immersion is increased 10 times in a good VR game and horror causes real trepidation within you. VR's main issue is the price point, most just don't want to spend as much as the console itself and consequently game production is slowing for it.

I'm more interested in Pimax 8k. 200 degree FOV and 4k upscale will be a huge immersion boost over 90 degree FOV and 1080p resolution. Plus onlyneeding one base station for 360 movement will help cut down on setup hassle.

Also the new updates to Vorpx have improved the experience for standard games. No tweaking necessary and they all look and function well...just need that higher resolution so distance isn't so blurry

You have never tried VR, so you won't be able to comprehend this until you try it. But I'll list what it adds to gaming:

Depth Perception, higher FoV, "feeling" rather than seeing, much more freedom in movement, many new innovations to all genres especially stagnating genres like FPS that completely change in VR, a much more socially connecting aspect to multiplayer, intuitive interactions with the world, and lots more.

Funny, because the vast majority prefer the VR version after comparing the two, just like the vast majority prefer racing games and space sim games in VR. Some genres are simply better in VR. Horror, Racing, Space Sims are perfect examples but even FPS, Platformers, 1st person RPGs feel so much better in VR. Multiplayer is undeniably so much better in VR as well with proper social presence and interactivity.

VR also had no impact on the idea of 1st person in RE7 as that was decided beforehand.

The game plays just fine without VR. If you're talking about the 1st person perspective, as I said, that was decided before VR was even talked about. You seem to be complaining about a non-existent problem here.

it was like a 1st person point and click adventure. everything was static. almost like CDi games or like a DVD menu. where you point at something and just click.

you cant jump because people with vr would probably fall on the floor. there were tons of jump scares obviously for VR as prior games didnt have as many.

choosing to go 1st person and conveniently release it in VR seems more than coincidence to me. the game looked gimped for the purpose of VR.

Those were probably just design decisions in general. Jump isn't necessarily needed. The game is only better because of VR so this was the best decision they could have made.

How dare you compare the combination of burgers and fries with PSVR? =(

Or did I missed something?
