Sony's Bend Studio (Days Gone, Syphon Filter) working on a new IP!

Awesome news but I was told that waiting until 2024 for a new game was awful. 😎

It was stated the new IP will expand on the Days Gone open world so I'm a bit confused what they meant by that. Expanding on the engine? On the combat? On the world itself making it a off branch? I still need to play Days Gone. I have it downloaded but no time.

Eh, never played any Syphon Filter game and I wasn’t to interested in Days Gone but I’m willing to at least see what they’re next game might be. It may be something that piques my interest.

I've been playing it. I'm enjoying it. Definitely worth a try.

Wow man you never played any of the Syphon Filter games? I would have never guessed that. They might show their age a little more now, but if you get the chance I would highly suggest giving them a shot. If you do then use the taser and don't let off the button... lol

It took them 7 years to make Days Gone, so good luck to them on their new IP that's apparently only just started pre-production.

Its unfortunate they had to waste 18 months on an un-asked for Uncharted remake they didn't want to make, that they ultimately threw away.

Lol at anyone who expects this "hypothetical" game to touch the PS5 this side of the decade.

@WitIsWisdom: Yeah for whatever reason they just were games that were never really on my radar. In fact I know quite little about them really.

Here's hoping they get a metacritic score in the 90s otherwise Ryan will close them down I bet.

Gotta see more but I'm glad Sony didn't try shutting them down and instead allowed them to work on something new. Hopefully they learned from Days Gone and can speed up development of this new title.

@NathanDrakeSwag: Yeah they were on PS2 and PSP, at least from what I am aware of. Had and still have my PS2 but never had the PSP. 🤷‍♂️

Coming from that studio, lol. Might just as well break them up and put them in studios who make good games.

I know. It was my thread and I remember it was mostly you crying over the gamespot 9/10 score and insisting GS scores didn't matter and MC was the new gospel.

It's only good on a PC, great port that smashes the PS5 version.

PS5 version was pretty good -- minus the loading.

On-topic: Sony must fill pretty confident in them to give them another new IP.

I hope whatever it is, it's better than Days Gone. Not an amazing track record honestly. Looking forward to their Games Fest presentation. I want to see if Sony is diversifying from the third-person cinematic trope.

Umm, there is no ps5 version. Now there’s a ps4 version that works on a ps5 with some bonus upgrades , but there’s no ps5 version.

It's sad to hear how close we were to a Ryse 2 or Days Gone 2 but they never entered full production... Both games had flaws so all the more reason for sequels to improve those flaws and build on what worked.

This industry only seems to allow sequels to games that were monster hits. Forgetting that megaton franchises like Call of Duty had 5-6 games before it hit gold with its legendary multiplayer in COD4. Or GTA, which only became hugely succesful when GTA 3 turned the series 3D.
