Sonys Downfall?

Am i only the only one tired or reading threads about how sony is going to fail, and how the PS3 could be the end of sony. I thought it might be usefull to enlighten some of you in the fact that Playstation is only a small percentage, i think i read 13% somewhere. Sony sells tvs, dvd players, they have movies, music players, mp3 players and all kinds of electronic stuff, so the ps3 hurts them, but not enough to kill them.

I don't even think SCEA is taking losses, because they're making money on the PSP and PS2 still.

Sony will not fail, anyone who says that honestly is stupid. They own 2 major movie companies (MGM Grand and Columbia pictures), they sell all kinds of TVs, they are forerunning the "flexible tv" (dunno who else read/saw this, it was a slim/flexible display), they sell blu ray players and DVD players, they sell computers, they sell MP3 players. They also sell stuff for cars (DVD players, CD players, radios, etc).

No, I'm tired of seeing the countless threads too, but trying to have a legitimate, logical argument with a fanboy is like talking to a wall. Luckily there are lots of people here who aren't that ignorant._AsasN_

Same could be said about cows saying that Nintendo is/was going to die.

I don't even think SCEA is taking losses, because they're making money on the PSP and PS2 still.

They are. first quarter net profits were negitive 2 billion dollars.

What hurt the PS3?

Too much too soon and more importantly, PRICE.

It all comes down to price. They put too much in the thing, heck, i cant think of something they forgot hardware wise!

Of course some smart aleck wants to type "Games, LOL." but seriously, that PS3 is packed with too many goodies that increased the price.

With as much going on in it, Im surprised it has such a fantastic Defect Rate compared to the PS2 or 360.

Oh well, in time it will go down...

If PS3 absolutely failed, it would be a huge blow to Sony.

If it is they can only blame themselves for pushing Blu-Ray first, games second. They are most likely going to win the format war against HD-DVD but are they going to win the console war? :?

Console possibly, handhelds nope PSP is selling just fine, as long as they make profit they WILL continue.

I'm more worried about Microsoft since they haven't made a dime in profit, Peter Moore left, and some of their games are being released on the DS *though this is nothing new remember Sonic and the Neo Geo Pocket*.

I don't think Sony is really worried about lossing because they have so many assests that they can use to keep things going (actually the losses there having could be a great tax write-off for the other branches of the corp.).

I think there are more movie studios that Sony owns or owns a major share of (Tri-Star) is one of them. Also people seem to forget that a lot of the video/audio equipment used to film most of these movies is manufactured by Sony. One of the local news rooms just recentlly finished remodeling there news rooms and all the HD camaras are Sony.

So Sony being in trouble is far far from any kind of truth.

Just something for the M$ fans to really think about.

I dont think its the downfall of the playstation brand. Last generation gamecube was way in last place in the console war, and you could have said that is was the downfall of the nintendo brand, but they came back and are now dominating the sales, almost tied with xbox360. I think if sony started planning now for the PS4, they could get things right, and im hoping that they will learn that $600 is alot of money for a gaming console. The PS3 should have not been released until this upcoming winter, so that it would atleast be released with some really good games and not crappy ports.

Welcome to the forum that is ran by lemmings. Get use to it, because they will try an do anything to make the ps3 look like it is not worth it, and not acknowlege that there system has even bigger problems but are so fanboyish to try an cover it up even if they are getting milked more then cows and sheep, lol. people are talking about sony ENTERTAINMENT. as in the sony game devision. don't be ignorant.

cows say the same about MS. even though ms is one of the most wealthiest companies in the world. and the losses from the 360 is merely pocket change to MS

You know winning the format war makes Sony a lot more money than winning the console war right? Not that I believe that is what Sony is doing, but think about it.
