3rd party exclusives .... PS3 won't be a winner or even close to it without being a machine that has all the games ONLY on it .... Sony's is trying hard, and their efforts are finally paying, i never thought that Sony can work its *ss this hard, but they need exclusive 3rd party support.

they need to get their prviously exclusive franchises back (even temporarly) , but as long as Sony mostly depends ONLY on their 1st party, things will be just ok, not good, not excellent .... just ok .

Aren't games like Demon Souls and Heavy Rain made by third party devs? I'm not too sure, but I think I've seen their previous games on different platforms before ( I pay zero attention to these things, TBH...I only stalk my favorite companies :P).

Sony aren't getting 3rd party exclusives that they don't publish and they don't need it with their 1st and 2nd party. They still get the big 3rd party games as multiplat which is fine.

while both games were excellent ( reviews wise) ... a game like RE5, Tekken 6 would be more effective although they were subpar ..... some game just sell for its name.

For me its irelevant if a game is from 1st , 3rd or 4th party , even if it's exclusive , it has to be good and fun to play thats all that matters.

Yeah, and it also costs Millions of dollars to get big established franchises to stay exclusive. I'd rather Sony keep that money towards their 1st / 2nd Party and supporting indie developers (MM with Little Big Planet) and different games (QD with Heavy Rain). They will get Tekken etc... anyway as a multiplat but having their own new IP that they fully control is better in the long run..

From Software is a third party but Demon's Souls was a joint venture directed by Sony.

I think that as long as Sony are getting exclusive games, it doesn't matter if they're 3rd Party or 1st Party.

They are still getting some third party exclusives, but it seems to just be from Eastern developers. Maybe they do need a bit more support from the West, though I guess they do have Agent from Rockstar.

I agree with this ^^^^. Why spend money on games that are going to play on your console anyway when you could put that money on developing your own exclusive titles which in turn improves your overall library.

I guess paying to develop a game is free right? I don't care if MS uses their money for developing a first party, or paying for a third, whats it matter?

...and that's...a bad thing?

That's a pretty huge target range as far as age goes, but I believe LittleBigPlanet, Rachet & Clank, and Modnation Racers would be exceptions to that....

Where did I say that? I didn't. I specifically said I want Sony to keep that money towards their 1st and 2nd party. Read first. Paying for an exclusive from a 3rd party who owns the IP where Sony would have no control over where the next entry would go to exclusivity wise is not the best choice IMO. Look at FF XIII, Tekken 6 and all the other series that were Sonys bread and butter last generation they're all on X-Box 360 this generation. I personally don't care if you care what Microsoft does as I never even mentioned Microsoft. I agree with the strategySony hasbeen using. Resistance, Rachet, Heavenly Sword guess what Sony owns those IP's and have complete control over who develops those games and will make sure they stay on Sony platforms which benefits them as a company and me as a person who wants exclusives for every platform.

your gonna need to bring proof for that. Also a big factor in a lot of multiplat can also be attributed to the economic downturn aswell and the fact companies like money so they are gonna release it on multiple platforms the landscape of this generation is a totally diffrent ball game than that of last gen.

Wha...!? Wheres this come from? Whats the problem with Sony or MS being involved financially with exclusive games being made for their respective consoles of course they're going to be involved. And have any of you stopped to think why third party development studios tend to generally not make exclusives, you restrict yourself to one console and you're loosing out on tons of sales, it doesn't make financial sense anymore.

First off, Sony has 3rd party exclusives. Secondly, why would they need them when they have a bunch of 1st party developers? MS relies on 3rd parties because they do not have the same stable 1st parties like Ninty and Sony. Different business strategies, and each seem to be producing some great games.

This is false. Sony had nothing to do with Demon's Souls. It was published by Atlus. Sony choose to publish Level 5's White Knight Chronicles instead of Demon's Souls.

Sony gets a ton of third party exclusives from Atlus and Nis. Trinity Universe comes out this month and 3D dot Game heroes came out in May

Yeah look, still neck and neck with the PS3 since it's launch, which apparently lacks these 3rd party exclusives. Apparently making exclusivity deals doesn't sell as many consoles as you seem to think it should.

As a gamer I don't care. I don't get payed by Sony / Microsoft / Nintendo. I want the most good games possible. Sony could've taken the money they use to fund and publish Heavy Rain and probably paid SE off to keep FF XIII exclusive but that would've been one less awesome game for me to play. I understand wanting a company to make more money but if that means paying off companies and taking money away from new IP's I don't support that strategy. Why do you think the 360's exclusives are less then what they were from back in 2006 and 2007? Microsoft pay for timed exclusivity and DLC rather then funding new projects.

this aint last gen. sony doesnt have a user base 10 times bigger then the other 2. ms and sony are too close together for devs to get profit from only making their game for 1 console. devs are losing enuff from keeping their games on only 2 this gen. because the wii cant do alot of them.

[QUOTE="2mrw"][QUOTE="Hahadouken"]Yeah cuz 360 is just dripping with 3rd party exclusives not published by MS. :roll:Hahadouken
it's about Sony if it wants to dominate and increase it market share ..... x360 at the beginning did the same thing to increase its market share and look where it's now

Yeah look, still neck and neck with the PS3 since it's launch, which apparently lacks these 3rd party exclusives. Apparently making exclusivity deals doesn't sell as many consoles as you seem to think it should.

PS2 says "hi" x360 lacks 3rd party exclusives rightnow coz they were all timed exclusives ..... PS3 is neck and neck, and it will be neck and neck for the rest of this generation, the dominance will never be complete. if you ask any person about his console of choice, it will be hard to choose ..... If Sony wants him to choose the PS3, then it needs to bring more 3rd party exclsuive games.

LBP2, infamous2, KZ3, and another sequels i totally forgot about it ....... sequels of very big AAA games, Socom 4 already anounced as well, we aren't into E3 yet.

chuckle, thats a flood? some sequals to **** games, and other games you have no idea when they'll release? We better get the life raft!

they are all AAA, they are all of different genres, they are all million sellers ............what more do you ask for ???

3rd party exclusives are a rarity on any platform, really. It's not in the best interest of the devolopers or publishers, unless Sony pays them big time. The last one was MGS4, I think. Regardless, the first party exclusives are just fine, I don't mind me some Killzone, inFamous, or Uncharted.

They have a ton of first party devs so theres really no need for them to look elsewhere, unless something catches their attention like LBP. Microsofts first party isnt as strong so they make all teh dealz

Who is this "he" in your theoretical situation? Which guy goes looking for a console and says "hmm these 1st party games like Uncharted, Resistance, Killzone, God of War, Ratcher, Heavy Rain, look pretty badass, but where are the 3rd party exclusives? Can I please get some exclusives made by Capcom or Namco that are exclusive to the PS3, because I care who publishes them?" What does it matter to the end-user whether it's 1st or 3rd party? It just seems like a weak excuse to pick at something Sony-related. That seems to be the way of SW though. No AAAEs? AAAEs matter. Lots of AAAEs suddenly AAAE's don't matter but sales do. Lots of 1st party exclusives? Well now we're into 3rd party exclusives, try and keep up Sony. It's just amazing to me that people still hit this agenda so hard, 4 years into this gen.
